"Official" 2025 Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

I own a small business and as reward / team builder for my staff, they picked a trip to WDW. That deal was made when we were just starting out and I said sure when reach a goal of 40%. We reached that last year so I am now cashing in on that deal. So that my staff can get the most out of WDW, we are driving down Thursday morning, checking in at the hotel, and heading to MNSSHP. For Friday and Saturday, we are likely doing Animal Kingdom and EPCOT but the whole team hasn't voted yet so it will be either HS or EPCOT; definitely heading to MNSSHP and AK.

The team is excited about going to MNSSHP as I have already been but they asked a question that I wasn't completely sure about. I was asked that if they wanted to dress in costume (according to Disney's guidelines of course), does it have to be a Disney-related costume?

My answer was of course since it is a Disney event but I thought I would ask the forum to double check.

Thank you in advance to the answer.

Does not have to be Disney related. We are just being aliens with antennae and glow bracelets!
Another year I was a spider web!

First, wow, what a generous boss! Okay, there's no need to only have Disney related costumes. I've been dressed in generic costumes (fairy, witch, ghost), but I've also seen a lot of non-Disney branded costumes, like Dragon Ball Z or Pikachu. The only thing to remember is the Disney costume guidelines - nothing violent, keep it family friendly and no face masks. Here's a link with details: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/

Nope, it doesn't have to be. The only times I dressed up, I went as a baseball player and a dalmatian

Thank you. I printed out the guidelines for them. They all have reviewed them and I can see the wheels turning as they think up costumes to wear.

No, it doesn't have to be but most people will be wearing something Disney related. I went last year and wore a costume related to an anime I enjoy and I stuck out pretty distinctly LOL

We actually noticed majority of people didn't wear costumes as much as Halloween themed t-shirts, and not just Disney ones.

When did you go? I went in October and most people had a costume on. If it was August then yeah I'm not wearing a costume.

Ok…we now have MNSSHP tix for Sunday Sep 14. This will be day 3 of a 7 day stay. Staying at Beach Club. We have never been to MNSSHP.
What is..or is there.. a strategy for doing MNSSHP?
— Best time to arrive?
— Must do things?
— Must do eats?
— Park strategy?
— Buses Ok to/from BC ?
— other ?

Any wise Dis members with experience and counsel ?

TIA

definitely make sure to see the parade and castle show

We got our tickets for the Sunday before Halloween! It's the same one we attended last year for our first party experience! We wore a Disney Halloween t-shirt and will do the same this year. We want to be comfortable to enjoy all of our time at the party. We saw more people dressed in this manner than in a costume. We are so excited! Looking forward to when Disney drops more party info about the rest of the available activities and treats. I hope they are still going to offer the parade twice! It was our favorite part!

Not knowing your priorities, here's a suggestion:
Sleep late, have a pool day. Eat brunch, followed by a healthy dinner around 2pm.
3pm - head to MK in your costumes
4pm to 6pm - arrive, do any rides that are closed or have a Halloween overlay so you can compare. Shop! (Some shops may not be open during the party.)
7pm - Snack time! find a spot that works for the parade (8:15) and Hocus Pocus show (7:35) send one party member off for food
Post show - Character photos, rides, ToTing
9:45 to 10:15, find your spot for the firework show, enjoy
10:15 until party end - this is where you really make out with short wait times on the ToT or rides.

Gonna admit that I had to sit here brainstorming for about five minutes to figure out that ToT meant Trick or Treat and not Tower of Terror!

Past parties we ate a late lunch at a sit down.

This party we will use our party morning as one of our sit down breakfast days. We will sleep in a bit, have a nice breakfast. Relax, explore area we end up having breakfast, then when we are at our resort, split a quick service between us before we go to party so we can try all the party food. Halloween usually has some fun savory items!

We have hoppers, so we arrive around 4 or 5 and just use regular entrance if there is a big line for the party and get our wristbands inside.

Buses are fine from Beach Club at that time. We always took the bus from there.

From there it's whatever you guys prioritize!

Has anyone been with a 3 year old before? We’re going in October for the first time and are debating if we should take our kids to the party. It would be about $750 for all of us (our youngest would be free). But I’m struggling to determine if it would be worth it? He wouldn’t want to wait in line to meet characters. He does like parades but might be scared by this one? He’d enjoy the trick or treating but it seems like an awful lot to spend if I’m not sure how much he’ll get out of it

The two cheapest MNSSHPs are during our August visit and qualify for the DVC discount. This is a "before" back to school trip. My wife is a teacher and starts a week before students so I've always taken my sons for a trip this week. This year my youngest son is a senior in high school, so we're doing the trip in style to Walt Disney World! My oldest son lives in Tampa and will join us for a few days (it's tough living in the real world with work and all that lol). Excited to plan this trip! We're DVC and staying at Boardwalk Villas (I have Beach Club waitlisted, but I'm not hopeful). Thanks for the wonderful tips and planning activities everyone!
