Question for the HHN vets. We are going to have park tickets when we do HHN at the beginning of October.

When we leave the parks for a mid day break, will they let us back in up until the park closes at 5pm?

How early should we make our way to the holding pens? I assume everyone has to be in a pen by 5?

Don't think I've seen anyone mention the HHN Bar yet over across from Mel's.

They will have photo opportunities with some of the original characters from the various houses.

Sounds good, but my question is will they have photographers there? That always seems to be something they are lacking.
As a solo traveler I don't mind buying the photo pass, especially with the AP discount in September, but the lack of actual photographers is always frustrating, especially during HHN. Yeah I know everyone wants a selfie...

I also see a photo opportunity over by where they had the Peacock bar last year.
Looks like its going to be the Bulmhouse Wolfman.

Yeah that sounds about right. You can come and go from the park as many times as you like until closing.

Getting to a pen can be challenging so be sure to follow the signs. I walked all the way to the NY area last year and they sent me back and around by Mel's to enter the NY zone.

I hope the food is good this year. That surfer boy pizza on the light French bread last year was amazing. I also liked the peanut butter mousse with Reese piece, I think it was yuri’s favorite.
It’s frustrating that the menus aren’t out.

I think last years event really made people forget UO hasn't really ever published or announced menu's before the event. We had always had to wait until Menu's were up on the food booths and vloggers took pics of them,

Looking so forward to some vlogs this week! Several vloggers, like Jackie/Super Enthused, just posted an updated video with lots of covered props for scare zones, food booths going up/locations (no menus yet...) and the portals for the entrances are placed!!

Yes, we've done this every time and hope to this coming trip. We're checking in on our HHN day, will do parks for a while, then HOPE the room is ready, at RP early enough to unpack, refresh for just a bit, and make sure we're back inside Universal before 5:00. Must be through tapstiles, in park by 5, park closure. Do you have HHN express?
If you don't have express, I'd get back to the parks/pens a lot earlier, and get in the S/S pens earlier. to have a good spot/jump on things. Once, I did have to ask to leave queue for the restroom, TM let me out, and back in, but don't wait too long, as the lines might start moving. Last year, I was able to buy the corndog, and eat it in the S/S line while we waited. Depends on the pen/location, what's available, nearby, etc.
If you have express, I didn't find last year, that it was as imperative to be in pens all that early. But we did hope to do a couple houses standby, and repeat w express. And agree with @tony67 , the lines/pens, where to enter can be confusing. Don't be afraid to ask TMs if you're in the right place, or where line is, etc. to make sure!
Hope you have a great trip. Our 1 night is also early Oct, and we're getting so excited!

Can't say I will be happy if they do that since I changed all my plans based on that not being available.

What over others heard and what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for the info. We do have express pass. Knowing we wont have any problem getting all the houses done, we will probably watch some reaction videos to pick a couple of house we think we will want to do more than once and use the pens to do a couple on standby.

I've heard that, but from what I have read, it's not so much a rumor but just a general hope and thought if they did it, that's when it'd be. The other thought was offer it when Rush of Fear ends

Glad I stocked up on dining gift cards at the Mardi Gras Deal - too bad they are not offering them during the AP Appreciation event like in the past.

I do hope the bars will be real bars and not just vats of premade drinks.
Lots of bitters and syrups - hopefully not too overused again.

At least they have the option of a "Premium cocktail mixed with your choice of liquor" so that is a plus.

Have to wait till the event, but in general it does seem a bit underwhelming food wise.

I expected much more from Monstruos, but some of the others sound decent.

FYI:

Stay and Scream locations this year are World Expo, New York Courtyard, and Today Cafe

None in San Fran area this year, and Simpsons was replaced with world expo

I don't know if it's that or where the house entrances are? Didn't Simpsons usually release into the ones that you entered where dreamworks land now is?

Yeah - was thinking the same thing - maybe a typo or cut and paste issue from the previous item "Korean cheese dog"

Not sure what Korean corndog has to do with it in any way shape of form. That said - SuperEnthused was there Saturday and was able to try one and it is huge, but i'm not really a mint fan..still looks interesting

Supposedly the rumor is coming from some insiders...but we all know how that goes... I have to assume the money from that is too enticing.

Additionally annoying is another rumor that they may have Bill and Ted there for a meet in great on October 9th outside the Summer Tribute store where they have the Bill and Ted Phone booth...so one more reason to be annoyed that I changed my plans.
