Our Halloween party costumes arrived! We’re going pretty simple, costume t-shirts for my. Husband and boys and Rey skater dresses for my daughter and I (she chose).
Yes, adding additional guests to an existing group for a sold out party is often allowed. We’ve heard up to 50% of the original group but in your case they were able to add 66%. This happens often but is not guaranteed. Glad you enjoyed your party!!We had an excellent and really not-so-scary time at the 8/20 party. We originally booked for just DH, DD, and me, but my SIL and her partner were able to purchase tickets at MK Guest Relations at the park entrance the day of the party despite there being a sign stating that it was sold out. They walked over around 1pm after we had lunch at Chef Mickey's and were able to get tickets on their first attempt. The CM mentioned the term "party matching" and said that it's easier for them to add guests when they're part of a travel party in which some members already purchased tickets. Not sure how accurate that is or if there's more to it, but that's what they were told.
We got on the bus from the Riviera around 4pm and there was a very long line for security when we arrived at MK at 4:15 - however, they quickly opened up more lanes and we made it through security, got our wristbands, and were walking through Town Square within 10 minutes. We decided to prioritize rides this time - DD and I have been to three parties before and always took time to meet Pooh and Friends, but we skipped any long character lines this time since it was DH's first party and he's more into rides than character meets.
We got our candy bags and headed to Tron - we had entered the park earlier in the day and joined the 1pm VQ, and we were within our BG return time. We ended up waiting 45 minutes in line and got on at 5:30. As we were walking down from the ride exit, we saw CMs leading the standby line of party-goers up toward the ride queue - it looked like they had been holding them near the Tomorrowland Launch Depot until that point.
We did some more rides between 6 and 7 (IASW - 6 minutes, BTMRR - 11 minutes, Pirates - 5 minutes) and then ate at Pecos Bill. We tried the Cajun burger (DH had the burger and I ate the fried green tomatoes) and spiced chocolate mousse bar, and I thought both were good. When we left there around 7:30 we got to see the Hitchhiking Ghosts in Frontierland - their costumes and makeup are so well done! From there, more rides (SM - 17 minutes and SDMT -15 minutes). We walked by Elvis Stitch - so cute! - but didn't stop to meet him. We decided to meet Alice and the Mad Hatter since that's who DD and DH were dressed as (I was the White Rabbit). At 8:40 we joined the line as the third or fourth party for the 8:50 M&G, and our PhotoPass photos are stamped 8:57. They were really fun characters to meet! From there we did PPF (19 minutes) and a little trick or treating, and then found a spot to watch the fireworks. I miss Hallowishes but this show was still fun to watch. As soon as it ended, we dashed over to Haunted Mansion (12 minutes). Madame Carlotta was very entertaining and I almost wish the line hadn't moved quite so quickly. After HM, DD and I trick or treated some more while DH stopped to eat again. We went through Princess Fairytale Hall and saw Maleficent and the Evil Queen. The CM was adamant about keeping the line moving so we ended up going through 2x on each side to be able to interact with them more. At 11 we headed to Frontierland for my favorite part of MNSSHP - the Boo to You parade. We were just in time to see the Headless Horseman ride through.
After the parade, we decided to end the night with Tiana's Bayou Adventure and it became a backstage adventure instead. After a 24-minute wait, we boarded at 12:06am and got just to the dancing okra in the bayou garden when there was an announcement that the ride was coming to a stop. First, it was the standard themed announcement - but it was followed very quickly by a CM voice calling "all CMs to tower," and then an announcement that we should remain seated and would be assisted by a CM shortly. The announcement also instructed us to put away our phones - my last photo before that was timestamped 12:16am. We were escorted down some stairs to the back of the ride where we received a recovery MEP that we ended up not using. Then we met up with my SIL and her partner for group photos on Main Street, which are timestamped 12:43am. Even then, the PhotoPass photographer wasn't rushing anyone. He took SO many great photos of us in different combinations of our party, tons of Magic Shots, and was so funny. I sent in a Cast Compliment while we were on the bus back to our resort. If you ever come across Mark from Auburn University, he is the person you want taking your photos!
I think it's safe to say we'll be back next year!![]()
Weapon props "that could be mistaken for an actual weapon" aren't allowed. The interpretation of that can be shaky. Here's a 2008 post about it. I had a foam ax (part of a Haunted Mansion attic bride costume) denied in DL. My choices were to throw it away or go back to the hotel. It was a toy, and part of a bouquet of roses. I was allowed to bring the roses in. I got the idea from seeing a kid (between 9 and 12) with an ax in her bouquet at WDW the year before, so maybe DL is extra strict? In any case, I wouldn't invest too much in weapon props. We'll be going to the party in September. Our group is going as Pirates. Do they allow you to carry in plastic knives or swords for the costume? Or are props like those not allowed? What about Captain Hook's hook?
Just don’t. Save yourselves the hassle of dealing with it all night and guarantee a quick run through security. We'll be going to the party in September. Our group is going as Pirates. Unfortunately not. This year, there's a pirate band outside of the ride. Are they still having the actors and CMs in Pirates running around and interacting with guests during the ride?

I dont feel like you actually missed anything.oh shoot. Last year, I was really hoping to see it, we got to see a part of it on the first 10 seconds o POTC but then the ride broke and was down the entire rest of the party.
I was hoping we'd get to see it this year![]()
Didn’t ride Tiana because I had glued a prosthetic pig nose to my face
I was watching a live stream of the MNSSHP and saw Gus, Ezra and Phineas were out and about. Does anyone know if there is a photo op with them, or do they just hang out on that balcony by the Country Bears?
They’re the HM Hitchhiking Ghosts…Could you have possibly been watching a stream from Oogie Boogie Bash or maybe an old live stream? I'm not sure who Gus (Cinderella?) and Ezra (Star Wars?) are but if you're referring to Phineas from Phineas & Ferb, it doesn't sound like he's at MNSSHP this year.
They’re the HM Hitchhiking Ghosts…
I had to google them to find out who they were! Who knew they had names?Oh! Sorry, I've always just called them the Traveler, the Skeleton, and the PrisonerBut they just stand on top of the Frontierland buildings and wave/entertain the crowd from there. No photo op.
