hi all! I have a couple of questions. I haven't been to MNSSHP in 20 years. How do most people handle ir? Do you do MK that day and stay for the party or do you go to another park and then come over for the party? I think you can do that even if you don't have park hoppers. I will be there at the end of September. Are most adults in costume?

Can't wait!

MK is historically a good park to go to on party days as many choose to go elsewhere due to the earlier park close.

We tend to go to MK on party day, go back to the resort to rest and change and then go back for the party. We do attractions during the day and focus on exclusive party offerings during the party plus attractions with party overlays.

I don't know about costumes but my friend and I are both wearing halloween attire. I have a summer dress with ghosts, pumpkins, skulls and such on it and she is wearing a black dress with candy corn ears and a halloween minnie loungefly. So adults do dress up whether costume or just themed.

We are also going to MK that day because usually crowds are lower.

ETA: we do go back to the resort to freshen up and change before the party though. I'm not able to do rope drop to party close without a nap

Now wouldn't that be a great idea!

Several years ago, 2019 maybe? I was already in the park and able to get in line before 4, there were maybe 5 groups ahead of me. (I brought food to eat while waiting) They came in to check we had party tickets and gave us our wristbands in line. Don't think they do that anymore. They started meeting quite early, before 5. After meeting Jack & Sally I headed to the line for the Pooh gang, was able to finish that M&G before 7.

The last few times I have done the party I have skipped the M&G altogether,.
For the last few years Pooh and friends wont be in halloween attair until the party starts officially.

Yes to his clothes, no to his guns. Swords are iffy. I've had a clearly plastic 9" hatchet called a weapon, but I've seen little pirates with swords so maybe if it's one you bought in the park? But I suspect the guns are a hard no.
I've gone full Jack Sparrow with just a sword before but it's not super lifelike...I could probably go without it just to be on the safe side. Just walking around dressed up and in makeup is a damn good time anyway lol. And I'd have to do Pirates inception by riding Pirates as Jack of course!

This is what we do, too!

Oh - and we dress up every year. Either in costume (I have been Ursula and a HM cast member in years past) or in cute Halloween outfits such as a previous poster mentioned.

We typically don’t do a park that day and rest during the day. We will book the last lunch at Steakhouse 71 or just stick around our resort and head over around 4-4:30. The only time we would consider another park the day of is if it’s a short trip.

You will see people dressed up, Disney bounding or not doing anything. It’s really up to what you feel comfortable doing but remember it is still Satans armpits while walking on the sun hot when you are going so I wouldn’t overdue it. Last year my DH & I wore HM attire, the year before I wore a Halloween t-Shirt with an orange tutu but hubby wore nothing, we wore matching shirts for Boo Bash in 2021 and I’ve previously worn nothing but regular day clothes or gone as Cheshire, Mike Wazowski, Pizza Planet delivery guy. This year I haven’t decided what I’m doing. There’s so much you can do and no one will judge on what you wear.

Go and have an amazing time!!!

I am hoping Tron is a standby queue - it was wonderful at the After Hours event this past March! Maybe Tron will be standby and Tiana will VQ? 🤞
Tron has been a VQ at the holiday parties since it's been open for them. I do not see that changing until if and when it goes to standby permanently.

Personally, I would hate to waste party time on it anyway. After Hours is one thing, you're there specifically for rides and tickets are capped. But there is so much party specific entertainment at MNSSHP that you really don't want to spend half the night in a standby queue for something you can ride normally during the day. Even the physical line for the VQ once your group is called can be a time suck. But VQ is the ideal way to ride it at this event imo because if you're fast enough with speed strategies, the first BGs get called before the party even starts. That's what happened when I went last year, I got into one of the first groups and my group was called at like 6:20 or so. I had barely gotten off small world, which is what I was on when I pulled it--I had a brain fart and forgot about the 6pm VQ when I was walking by and saw the posted wait was 5 mins so hopped in. Which was fortunate for the large clueless family in the boat with me because I gave them a quick crash course in how to do it when I overheard them sounding extremely confused. We were all successful and I did my good deed for the day, lol.

We never do a park the same day as a party we're attending--if we want to take advantage of the low party day crowds at MK for touring purposes we always rope drop it on a day we're not going to one and hop to another park in the evening after our midday break. Normal park touring + party in one day, even with a rest break, is just too exhausting for us. I did it on my solo trip last year and remembered why I usually never do. I was dead the next day and ended up canceling plans just to recover.

Typically we do a pool day at the resort and then shower and change into costumes and head on over to MK around 4ish, sometimes 5 or 6 depending--we tend to do 8-10 day trips so losing an extra hour or two of getting in early won't make or break us, and once was enough for the Jack and Sally craziness. One reason we really enjoy the monorail resorts for party trips is because it makes getting to and from a lot less stressful. This year we are at the GF and we plan to have a pool day, then have an early dinner probably at GF Cafe and head over to the party.

This was our experience last year. We got into the VQ, but both times when we arrived, we were told we would be in the line for more than two hours - missing the second parade, the fireworks, and basically the second half of the party. We walked away both times. If you still have a 120 minutes wait, I don't see a lot of reason to even try for the VQ system when party time is so limited.

VQ is really a feast or famine situation, sadly. Even during a normal MK day, Tron's line can be upwards of 60 minutes if you hit it at the wrong time. The rule of thumb I've found with the VQs is the higher your BG number, the longer you're probably going to wait in the physical line. It tends to snowball. And there's a marked difference in your wait time based on your group. Like my experience last year was the total opposite of yours, I was in the initial chunk of groups called for the party and it was a walk on straight to the lockers and then the loading area. I was on and off the ride before the party even officially started. It was a night and day difference to the 30 minutes we waited during the first time we tried EEH at MK. So it is absolutely worth it to try for the VQ, but you have to be super fast to get one of those low groups, and not everyone can manage that.

Is a Jack Sparrow costume/attire allowed?

I'd assume certain toy swords are ok seeing as when we were at Magic Kingdom in February this year, my wife bought our son a very cool light up sword that made sounds right outside the Pirates ride in one of the shops. The handle was pretty cool too as it was made to look like a large "D" from the Disney logo font.

Anyway, assuming it's "toy like" enough, especially from within the park, it should be fine :)

Last year was the first year for Tron and VQ during the parties. Nothing has been announced for it to be the same this year so I’m not counting on it but we will see the first party and if it is it could change anytime. It is also available for purchase between 4-6. We did VQ at 6 last year and were lucky enough to be one of the first groups boarding before the party started but if it had been after I wouldn’t have bothered.
