Has anyone been to the last party of the year? How crowded is it usually?

We've planned a resort-only trip around x-mas, but are now considering adding MVMCP on 12/22. If it's going to be as crowded as a peak day, I'd rather skip it.

Very crowded. But they don't sell any more tickets on that night than on any other night. So a sell out on the last party night of the year will be the same crowd level as a sell out on any other party night. Definitely get your tickets in advance though!

It will sell out, but a sold out last party is no different than a sell out any other night. And nothing like a peak day. Just remember that crowds for the party exclusive events will be high every party, sell out or not. Have a good plan and you’ll be fine!
When you say to have a good plan, do you make a tourning plan on the touring plans site, or do you just make a list of what you want to do and stick with that? I use touring plans for our regular park days, but I was trying to make one the other day for MVMCP and it wouldn’t let me optimize it. Just curious. I love messing with my touring plans for months in advance. Hopefully I am not the only person that does that..lol! Anyway, I want to make a good plan for the party, so if there is another way to make a good plan, could you direct me to that site? Thanks!!!

I hand craft a plan based on our must do’s using reports from prior parties on waits, etc. Anyone here would be happy to review your plans and offer advice on timing so please don’t hesitate to ask!! The first page of this thread has lots of great info on character meets, if those are a priority. If you’re mainly concerned with rides, most if those will have low-ish waits all night, so just prioritize and don’t leave yourself criss-crossing the park as the hub and Main Street can be hard to maneuver on party nights.

Great! Thank you. We are more focused on attractions, than characters. I’ll write something up and post it here and see what you all think. Thanks for all of the advice so far!

We have 6 day park tickets plus the party ticket. When I make fast pass reservations starting at 4 on our party day is it going to let me make 6 other days of fast pass reservations? I’m a little nervous too about entering at 4 using the party ticket and it instead taking a day off my 6 day pass.
*To clarify we technically are going to be in the parks 7 days, 6 day park hopper and 1 day MVMCP.

As long as you are staying onsite, you can start making FP reservations 60 days prior to your arrival, starting at 7am EST that morning. You will be able to make FP reservations for your whole trip. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking about making FP reservations on your party day starting at 4, but there are not FP for party nights past 6pm.

There is a separate entrance area for MVMCP where you will get your Magic Band or ticket scanned and then get a wristband.

I was wondering the same thing about it counting towards my park day if I enter during that 4-7 time. I was planning on scanning my MVMCP ticket barcode to enter as opposed to using my magic band. I don't trust the magic band to differentiate the two. For the fatpasses I'm pretty sure you can make fastpass reservations for the entire duration of your trip regardless of the number of ticket days you have purchased.

To be safe, I always take my hard tickets and use them to enter. But if you enter through the designated event entrance, it is not “supposed” to take a day off your regular tickets.

And yes, you can book FPs between 4 and 6 as long as you do not have any booked for another park in the morning. When booking, however, make sure you do all of your regular park days FIRST, then come back and do your party day.

Finally decided to go for it and bought tickets for Nov 11 . Also booked the plaza dessert party . Haven’t been to the Christmas party in awhile- looking forward to it.

I haven't received hard tickets. I got them when we went to MNSSHP in 2017 but I didn't even think about it for the Christmas Party. I'm not really worried about it taking away a day since we're Passholders, but it seems weird that we didn't get the plastic cards this time.

We got plastic cards for tickets in 2016, but never since then.

When you purchase online it will automatically default to email delivery unless you change it manually.

We went ahead and bought regular park tickets for the day we're attending MVMCP. I wasn't planning on it, but they were only a few more dollars for the kids (DH and I have APs), so we figured why not. What are some things you would recommend to get done in the park before the party starts? We've never gone to a party so I'm pretty clueless.

I've not done the Christmas party before but I think the same concept applies for the Halloween party. I would plan on hitting up any attractions that you enjoy that aren't open during the party and plan FPs for those where the line won't be drastically shorter during the party (like 7DMTR).

We have always watched the 8:30 parade around the hub area. Wanting to try watching from Frontier land area so we don't have to line up so early. Around what time do you need to be in place to get a good viewing spot and where are the best places to set up in that area?

I'm thinking they will - they want to draw crowds from GE and keep all the parks full. Extending F&W and offering season passes to parties will keep people moving. It's actually a really smart strategy and that season pass could be really attractive to guests visiting for 10 days. I would choose a season pass over a dessert party any day.
Heck it's an attractive pass even for me as I'm staying a week, there's four parties, and I already have two anyway.

Last year we were there at 8 and this year we'll go a little earlier (like 7:55). This year we're getting a snack first and bringing a book or something to read while we wait!
