Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

The parks are always so empty that week! its after spring break so kids are all back in school and before the grad nights happen. Thats why we always go then! Last year in 2 days we got in a total of about 40 rides, sit down breakfast, lunch, and dinner, saw the parade, fireworks, world of color, and had time for starbucks breaks =) we pretty much killed it.

What day is everyone coming? Im not racing this weekend ( I am running Disneyland half weekend in September and possibly super hero weekend in November) but my mom and I always go the second week of may. We will be in the parks the 9th and 10th and leaving on the 11th...might make a pitstop on thursday to the expo before we head to the airport =)

We arrive early on Thursday morning (gotta love the time change flying West), so planning to drop off luggage at hotel and head into the parks!

@roxymama I really hope your mom can go with you.

We're driving down Wednesday and will leave Monday afternoon. Hit the expo super early on Thurs.

Are any of you DIYing parts of your race costumes? I was perusing Etsy for some cute bows or hair accessories to match my outfit and kept balking at the shipping charges that would make them all rather pricey. So I've started to get some hair-brained ideas to go to Michael's for parts and then borrow my mom's glue gun. This may end poorly!

Wondering if it's just gonna end up costing me more to make it myself?

I'm being costume indecisive again.

Finally have all my trip stuff done.

  • Hotel for the night before we fly out (we fly out early from KC which is a few hours from home so driving up the night before) - Check
  • Purchase military discount park tickets - Check
  • Arrange and pay for shuttle to/from airport and hotel - Check
Now if only it were time for the trip!!

I still haven't bought my tickets yet. I gotta look into that more very soon!

Good job. I still need to pay off my hotel, book shuttle airport and buy tickets...:rolleyes1

My mom and I are leaving at like 2am Thursday morning to drive down and get there in time for early morning Expo time. It's a 6-8 hour drive from where I live in the SF East Bay.

Riley (cat) will have to go in the Disney kennel much to her annoyance since it'll be too early to check in to our hotel and leave her there.

Probably leaving between noon and 2pm on Monday to head home.

We are flying from Boston on Friday. My DH has a gig late Thursday night, so it's going to be a long day for him. We are staying at Paradise Pier on Friday and Saturday and then we move to the GC on Sunday. We fly home Wednesday.

We originally planned to fly home on Thursday, but discovered that my DD17's senior year spring concert is on Thursday. We paid a ton to change the flights and I rented the points for GC so we are eating that too. Oh well.

My trip is from Thursday through Monday. Thanks for the reminder about the airport shuttle. I guess I need to take care of it.

How are the airport shuttles? I was just planning on using Uber and then I have a discount code for a free ride on Lyft (up to $50), so I'll be using that to get to LAX. But how much time do the shuttles take? Are they efficient/cost-effective? Uber is estimating me at $20-25 from John Wayne and then $50-60 to LAX.

ETA: Also, I'm flying in/out of different airports (clearly) because I used points to fly and that was the most efficient way. Nothing like trying to get a last minute trip, 32-hour trip as cheap as possible :)

We're leaving from the Bay Area too.

Mom and I are flying in separately to John Wayne on Thursday mid day. She leaves early Tuesday and I leave late afternoon the same day. Planning on probably three or four park days (avoiding Sat & Sun) but will play it by ear with the crowds. I probably won't buy my tickets until I arrive as I'm not finding any amazing deals anywhere online.

I wonder how many are coming from the Bay Area? I live in the East Bay.

Not Bay area, but Sacramento area so not too far.

I'll be flying in Friday morning and leaving Monday evening. I've had pretty good luck with Super Shuttle, except for my last trip. I made the mistake of needing to take a shuttle while the half marathon was still going on. After the shuttle hadn't arrived at my hotel an hour after they were supposed to, I got nervous and took Uber so I wouldn't miss my flight.

I travel a lot for work out of LAX and SNA. If you book http://shuttletolax.com/ , it's only $20 to LAX. I've used them when my husband can't take me during the week and had good luck with them. I had a ride from LAX to South OC for $80... so I'd try to get something that's a bit more reliable :)

I'm from Sac too!
