Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

"Unlike the Fastpass+ system at Walt Disney World, the MaxPass system does not allow users to select Fastpasses months, weeks or even days in advance. This is still a same-day program, and users must activate the entitlement on the day they visit the park.

Nor can users make Fastpass selections from home before even heading to the parks. Visitors must be inside a theme park to collect a digital Fastpass to use the same day, though MaxPass users need not walk to their selected attraction to claim a Fastpass ticket. A MaxPass user can walk onto Main Street, U.S.A. and claim a Fastpass for Splash Mountain if they want, without ever stepping foot in Critter Country. The MaxPass app also allows users to claim a Fastpass for a ride in the other theme park, so a user in Disneyland could claim a Fastpass for Radiator Springs Racers before park hopping."

Boy my head is swimming from this.
What about APers??? I have resisted and will continue to putting this stuff on my iPhone.
Don't even get me started on photopass and linking it to my AP☹️☹️
Guess I'm "old school"....I like my paper FP.

I hope MaxPass (or MaxiPass if you will :P) means they're going to have wifi in the parks. I used soooo much data when I was there for Tink last year.

I read the article about MaxPass about three times and....I'm not sure I fully understand it. So many questions. I just want to ride Radiator Springs without my hair turning grey while in line.

My understanding is that the only real difference is that you pay $10 and you can get your FastPass tickets on your phone. So you don't have to go to the physical kiosk. For example, you're in line for Space Mountain and you've reached the time where you can get a new FP, you can get a FP for Radiator Springs while in line at Space Mountain instead of having to walk over to Carsland. It will work exactly the same as a paper FP (you'll wait in the same FP line, you'll have to wait for the appropriate time to get a new FP, you'll have to be in the park), you'll just have it on your phone and save yourself some steps.

Yeah me too here, will be following along on the new maxpass info! I either want them to roll it out for spring break and get all the kinks out (and reports back on how best to use it!) before we get there or wait until summer. I don't want to be in the first stages of this when I'm a newbie and barely know what I'm doing to begin with, let alone add another new learning curve with this too!

Got it, thanks. $10 to not walk to a kiosk? I can kind of see the appeal for those who are trying to get multiple fast passes on a busy day. But this and paper versions at the same time may be chaos in the beginning. How will they know if you're still inside property line? Can you enter in the AM, go to Downtown Disney for lunch and pick up a couple fast passes while waiting for food? Still so many questions.

Speaking of questions, I have one: is there a thread for help with costumes for the run? As in, "definitely do not wear X because I did and it was a fail" or "I did X this way and it totally worked"? I did a search and found a costume thread for races but it was more sharing costumes and not so much in the way of tips.

Cant' help with MaxiPass - with costumes, whatever you decide to wear...I would definitely take it out for a test run before the races. People can tell you what can and cannot work for them, but what works for one person may or may not work for you. It's part of training! :)

Have the DL races gone to using Photopass photographers like WDW? I have been spoiled this year with the free downloads from my AP. I'm going to have to look into photo options for Tink. I'm going to want some race photos, especially for HockeyDad's first race.

Yes! I got photos for Tink last year.

I had a Premier AP then, which has since expired. I too am curious to see what the cost will be for photos!

When is everyone buying their tickets? I read on the DL board here that the last couple years there were price increases in very late Feb. I'm thinking this month may be smart to get my tix? Thoughts from DL vets?

I looked into the Premier AP for this year, since we will be on both coasts, but it was not worth the jump from the discounted DVC pass that I have been buying. Does the Premier AP include Photopass pics at DL? I didn't account for that possibility.

It did last year!

The Premier AP made sense for me last year, but then they increased the price astronomically. I was so sad when they did that! :( I have a WDW AP but it would be double the cost to upgrade to the Premier AP, which just does not make sense for me with one DL trip planned this year. If I had a second DL trip planned I'd probably upgrade.

Makes sense, it's just that I have a crafty friend who is gung-ho about making the costumes since she won't be able to race herself. Honestly, I think she just likes making stuff for any reason. I'd hate to have her make something for me only for it to not work out. If it were me I'd have no problem testing costumes and tweaking the results. Oh well, I'm sure she'll understand

Well...they do have some guidelines on costumes, like what is and is not legal. It's mostly common-sense stuff:

I will say that fellow runners will appreciate costumes that are not intrusive to others - like if you have a giant set of Tink wings that can whack people around you in the face, that may not make you too popular. :) Personally I don't know how people can run in tutus, so I avoid those, but plenty of people seem to be able to do it! I also don't like running with mouse ears on...the headband-type squeeze my head and the hat type aren't breathable. And no cotton!! Doesn't breathe well! :)

So you're saying I can't wear Carnival style wings??? Damn :p

She's going to make me a bustle tutu. I'll just tell her to keep the amount of fluff to a minimum
