Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

So after watching Rogue One, I was rethinking my costume to rebel pilot tank top. I remember looking for one a while back ago, but no luck. Anyways, I ran across these rundisney shirts at disneystore.com that could be used as training shirts (or running shirts in general). If anyone is up, there's free shipping with any star wars purchase today (12/18):

and this was mentioned on the dark side thread:

Anyways, still no luck on a rebel pilot tank. I guess I could make one with an orange tank, but I'm too lazy and not creative. I might buy a rebel pilot t-shirt and cut off the arms to make a tank ... or just stick to the original plan.

I saw those a few days ago. WANT THEM ALL! With Christmas coming and my birthday five days later, I'm dropping all kinds of hints (i.e. sending the links directly to my husband)!

Hi guys! I'm playing catch up! Haven't been on the boards too much as life is just super busy right now.

Last weekend I did my 11 mile run. It went ok. Knee hurt the last two miles. That was actually the last run I did because I got sick. I’m feeling better today finally but probably won’t try running for another day or so. I’ll see how my chest feels.

For race wear I ordered DD, DS and I a BB-8 iron on that says rolling to the finish line. I’ll put that on black shirts for each of us. Does anyone have any tips for applying iron-ons to tech material? Mine will have to be tech but the kids will most likely be cotton. I want to get DD a black sparkle skirt to wear with hers. I’ll probably wear a black and white sparkle skirt I currently have for mine, unless I buy a new skirt at the expo. For the Half I’ll wear my Raw Threads May the Course Be With You tee and a black with blue lightening sparkle skirt.

The 10k will be DD’s first. I’m sure she’d love to stop for at least one character photo but we’re gonna play it by ear and see where our pace is at and how long the lines are.

Finalized our hotel reservations, which just means I cancelled the “extra” hotels I had booked. Can’t wait to see waivers and corrals and course info! I’m super excited! Nervous for how my knee is gonna do during the half, but know that I will finish no matter what!

How will the corral information be released. I think I read in an earlier post that they'll be posted this week or next. Getting excited!

Well my best guess is rundiney will either release it this Friday (since WDW corrals was released last Frida) or they'll wait til after the holidays. Usually they don't release them this early. If they release it you should get an email with a link from your waiver. That will have your bib # on it and then you can find your corral based in that. The last few years someone usually finds the link to the waivers before rundiney sends them out! In that case you'll see a post here with the link!

Woohoo - DH just purchased tix to see Rogue One on Friday morning with the kids. We lucked out as our preferred movie theater (assigned recliners) just released them today, so we got seats smack dab in the middle of the theater. He was at the theater watching Moana with the kids (while I toil away here at work.)

Another newbie question - what time do most people show up at the corrals? We are not early birds so I don't think we'll be shooting for the front of our corral. We're staying at DLH if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

I have the same question! Also staying at DLH. I hope I can sleep in a bit later than my 3 AM wake up for Wine and Dine...

Thanks to everyone for their helpful answers to my last questions - hopefully we'll see K-2SO on the course and some other cool Rogue One characters!

It depends what time you want to be in your corral. If you want to be at the front of the corral I’d get there as soon as the corrals open. I actually prefer to be at the back of my corral cause I like to sit on the curb as long as I can before the race start. The less time on my feet before the race the better! Race starts at 5:30 for the half, so I want to be in my corral by 5:00. I’m staying at Hojo’s on Harbor so I have a 20 minute walk to Disneyland Drive. I will probably leave my hotel about 4:15 so I don’t feel rushed at all. This gives me 45 minutes to walk through the esplanade, through DTD, through security check over to bag check, check my bag, use a portapotty and then head to my corral. Staying at DLH you’re really in the best location. Assuming you’re not checking a bag or stopping at the portapotty, it shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to get from the hotel to your corral. Last year and for Tink the security check was very fast so no need to worry about that holding you up.

Kirstie - once again, you are so helpful with your answer! This helps out a lot! Thank you!

Is 5am the latest we should be in our corral?

Yes, just to make sure you have time to get there safely and calmly.

Every year I see people rushing to make their corrals and do you really want that added stress before you run 13 miles? You could be forced to move back corrals as well which just adds to the stress as well.

This seems to be the norm. We are at grand Californian, so we wake up at 4, leave the room by 4:30 for the walk over and in the corrals by 5 at the latest. Gives us plenty of wiggle room since the corrals are right outside the hotel.

I recommend getting there early. I left my hotel (hojo) later than I wanted (4:45-4:50) and with bag check so far from the corrals and then the huge crowds walking to the corrals and just the sheer size of the corrals, I ended up having to run and made it in the middle of the national anthem. Stressful! :scared:
