Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

REMINDER: PROOF OF TIME NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED BY 10/11/16!

We got our links from Raw Threads this morning and saw that date information. Thank god I just ran RNR San Jose HM with a good proof of time - it bested my Tink 10K from earlier this year, so I used it!
I feel like we were cutting it close to get it submitted!

Love love love the 10K and half medals!! But the challenge medal is just wah wah waaaaah. Here's hoping they don't change the Kessel run medal! Just getting around to booking airfare (big sale on Southwest!). I'm starting to get excited about this one - I hope they will mix in some Rogue One stuff since that movie comes out in December!

Based on this year's races, we might get some Rogue One mile markers for the 10K and banners in the family reunion area where the band plays after the race. Last year those banners were all Force Awakens. We might also see some cosplayers from Rogue One along the cosplay section of the course.

I did it...I ONLY signed up for the 10k. The OCD side of me will go crazy not continuing with the challenge for the 3rd year but the logical side of me knows that's the only medal I really wanted.

Thank you for posting this. I checked last week and it was sold out. I just signed up and am now running the 10k!

I'm guessing it's TAs giving bibs back that they couldn't sell.

The deadline for TAs for Marathon Weekend in WDW was October 4 so it would make sense that Light Side'a is coming up soon since it's the week after Marathon Weekend.

It's been crazy at work, so I haven't had time to check in on the DIS! I LOVE the 10k medal!! And I'm glad I checked in and saw your note about the 10k being opened back up! I'm hoping my bf will sign up, but I'm not sure that he will. I'm still contemplating last minute signing up for Avengers, but we'll see. We just booked an unexpected WDW trip for December, so perhaps I should save my dollars. lol.

How'd everyone's training go this weekend? I ran a long 5k race on Sunday (it was actually about 3.7 miles). It went well. Bested my previous pace in this race by about 30 seconds.

The 10k medal is the coolest. Almost makes me want to try and get into that race but it's such a whirlwind trip for us and I don't even know if we'd be able to get to bib pick-up before Saturday morning. I do like the Half medal, though.

Did one run this weekend. Made it to mile 3.25 before the IT band got tight and I stopped. Going in for another ART session today. I'm pretty confident I'll be fine by SW. Fingers Crossed! Ugh being injured sucks!

And just like that, DD is in for the 10K! I knew she'd want that medal lol! I'll be starting and finishing later for the 10k now so that means no shower back at the room before the kids races with DS. I guess we'll just hang out in DTD and my mom and DS will meet us when they get down there. Hmmm I bet if we stayed at PPH I'd have time to get back to the room for a shower.....

In other news, a friend took the opportunity to sign up for the 10K yesterday! I have my lodging set (DLH). She doesn't want to spend that much. What off-property hotels are closest to the start?

In other news, a friend took the opportunity to sign up for the 10K yesterday! I have my lodging set (DLH). She doesn't want to spend that much. What off-property hotels are closest to the start?

Best Western Stovalls is one of the closest to the start. Looks like they're sold out on their website but you can still book them through the rundisney travel page. They open their breakfast room for runners early on race days which is nice. Most likely this is where we're staying again. Eden Roc is on the opposite corner so also very close. Annabella is just past that one. Those are all on Katella and you just walk down Katella to Disneyland drive to get to the start. She could also stay on Harbor and walk through the esplanade/downtown disney to get to the start. BW park Place inn is right at the crosswalk on Harbor, as is Park Vue Inn. For race weeekends (and other weekends) I've stated on Harbor at the Hojo, they offer a runners discount if you call them direct. I'd say there a 20 minute walk to the corrals but longer after the race as security is open and you're moving slower.
