Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

I'm really frustrated with the expo. Had to wait in line for about 30 mins which cut into my lunch hour... so I couldn't get done what I wanted

Solution: booked a celebration breakfast after the 10k at Storytellers then will be hitting the expo after :rotfl:

That's one way to work it!

Had my last 6 mile run before the big run on Sunday.

Whose ready to do this?

Hubs and I are dressed and driving to Mickey and Friends... for finalizing of gear and a quick power nap. See you all on the course, corral B!

What? I can't keep hitting "snooze"??? Up and at-at'em!

Headed over to staging area then corral B - good luck to all this morning!

Note to Rundisney.... holes on the kids bib should not be on the tear off parent's claim tag so you don't have a hole to pin the top part of the bib on your child

I'm loving being an east coaster right now. Went to bed at 8 last night so this 3 am wake up wasn't too bad! Good luck to everyone running this morning!

I know right, I went to bed at 9 and woke myself up at 2:30, half hour before my alarm.

Right now I'm standing in corral F. At least it's not the last corral so I have a bit of a cushion. Here's hoping my left calf cooperates today.

In corral D waiting. Looks like I have a huge cushion judging by the sea of people behind! Can't decide if I will do photo ops or not.

13k racers today and 16k for the half-marathon tomorrow, according to announcers.

Good luck everyone!

10k done, half tomorrow. Nice that this year's 10K was mostly on property in the park. Was a bit dark in backstage areas, found a pothole near monorail section before 5k and twisted ankle - decided to get photo with BB-8 to rest/stretch it while in line and then back at it - Nike+ says my running time was 56 min. Not as many photo ops as prior years - hoping more during half.

Good luck to everyone running half tomorrow - B corral again!

I woke up at 1am and saw it was only 1, and decided to go back to sleep for a couple hours. The dark side will definitely be a bit rough though!

Cute medals.

Pretty sites along the way. The band did not start playing just as I passed by (always startling when they do).

And all the rest I have to say is negative. Ranting to the ether.....

Don't come to a dead stop in the last .15 mile to hug a spectator. If my knees were stronger and could handle an impact and I'd had a millimeter less room we would have ended up on the ground. If you're walking three abreast AND have wide tutus don't be stunned and rude about it when someone (not me; I just watched it) squeezes between you. Especially at the curve with grizzly to the right and churro carts and trash cans to the left and there is nowhere else to go for those behind you; a little self awareness goes a long way. They would have done well to read the course rules, too. Please people look the way you're about to move before going. Walk right. Run left. Move from side to side if you're doing both. Putting your hand up to indicate walking isn't helpful if you're just going to walk on the left.

Yeah. I wasn't a fan of today. Dreading tomorrow. Not looking forward to Princess.

Though my legs feel decent! I met Jeff Galloway on Thursday and bought a timer and he encouraged me to try 30 second intervals. I did it for the most part (walking and running on the correct sides as much as others would let me) and while my funky knee and the course congestion slowed me down, and moving side to side that much got irritating, my legs feel really good. Which is the point. But I'd like Jeff to run with me at my pace in my corral sometime so he can figure out how to help those of us who aren't starting in A. :)

We slept through 45 minutes of alarms this morning. Thank you to DH who finally woke at 4:15. Whew.

Tomorrow there will be a wakeup call if this hotel does those.

I had to slow down at Grizzly because it was so dark and people just fell to s dead stop. These were the fun walkers that lied and put themselves in corral B or A. It was so scary back there that I saw someone fall. I feel you on this.

Two complaints that I wanted to share:
- kids getting dragged by parents is not safe. The poor kids were obviously not wanting to be there and mom is dragging kid by the hand at tight turns
- light sabers, awesome flashlight but please hold them vertical! Sideways they're blocking the course path.

I just realized they managed to squeeze 6 miles inside Disneyland property. Pretty cool!

Better expo experience today. I got my "idiot" shirt for Rebel challenge - now I feel official!!

Running our first half tomorrow! We are staying at the Grand and was wondering the easiest way to the corrals. Do we go out to downtown Disney or go out to the street in front of the hotel. Thanks for any insight!

You may have 2-3 security stops if you do DD because DD is a secure area. Suggesting going out the front towards paradise pier and over to the corrals by the finusline - but maybe someone can suggest a more efficient route.
