:offtopic: It's finally beautiful out here in NH and I just fell off my stairs sideways onto the ground. The railing broke and down I went. I'm sure I"ll be bruised tomorrow. I'm going to take a Tylenol. :headache::sad2:

ouch. hope it doesn't hurt much.
On the bright side you do have a nice day...we have light snow falling here...just picked my kid up from snowboarding lol...time for spring now

So I know that most people have decided, and it makes sense, that it isn't the best financially to book a mod and only get QS FD. What are people's thoughts on booking a value and getting QS FD? Has anyone decided that it may be smarter to use RO discount and pay out of pocket assuming you use all of your snacks and QS credits? I tried using the dining calculator, but I think my brain is mush at this point o_O

You're assuming a RO discount is offered. And, if it is, we don't know what the discount might be. As mentioned before, it's all about the math. As far as QS being offered at the mods, that sucks. But it's better than nothing. And you can always upgrade to the regular dining plan for roughly $21 per person. I just can't imagine a room discount would make up for the dining plan at a moderate. But I'd have to crunch the numbers though.

Thanks for the welcome!! I love it :)

Oh yay! This is the first time joining this site looking for some details on the free dining plan and saw all of this and figured he was but wasn't entirely sure!

I been to Disneyland twice when I was younger (1990/1991) with my Mom and Grandma and can still can remember so many things incredible things about it....so I am beyond excited to finally be able to visit Disney World for the first time with my children. We actually have 18 of us going! 10 kids ....8 adults! Wish us luck! lol ..... We are staying from 9/1 - 9/9 at Caribbean Beach Resort. We have 6 park days that include the hopper and water park package ..... any helpful tips is always greatly appreciated!

18?!?! You must be a glutton for punishment. Were you able to get the gift card that was offered at CBR? Well, for what it's worth, I'm excited for you. The first time I went with my son, being able to see it through his eyes, was probably the best vacation of my life.

If you don't mind a value, I wouldn't even upgrade to TS. I would use the money I saved from not upgrading and just buy a couple of TS meals oop. Then you've still got your two quick service meals per day to use as well. Tons of food. :)

CBR doesn't bring up room options for either of the dates we want. After USA Thanksgiving and early and mid DEC before the Xmas crowds. I am looking 8-10 days. POR always comes up. You think they would stick FD there to fill it up...I guess the gift cards helped CBR draw people...would they not put out all rooms if they planned for FD and CBR? I am wanting to add 3 days and shift dates and I can't.

Oh no!! I hope nothing else broke! Hope you're okay, ThistleMae. :(

So, after crunching the numbers it looks like we may be priced out :( I'm trying to stay at no more than $3k for the trip since that's all we can afford. It's really unfortunate that Disney is becoming completely unaffordable. We'd love to take our kids back while they're still young and enthralled with the characters, etc.
For our 1st family trip we stayed offsite. We had 2 children at the time, who were 4 & 10. The hotel was very close to Disney, very family friendly, and awesome! There was free scheduled transportation to the parks, free meals for the kids, free activities for kids, etc., etc. You can purchase discounted tickets on Mousesavers -- base tix if you want to save more $. While Disney isn't cheap, there are a lot of ways to save.

Yes, we were offered the gift card as well .....so very anxious to see how that applies to FD offer.

Well, I think you might be in luck. All signs point to if FD is offered, and CBR is included, those guests will get both the GC and FD.

Ok, maybe this is just me. I see people talking about staying offsite a lot. I went with a group once and we stayed offsite. I'm sorry, I just didn't enjoy it as much. Having to drive back and forth to the hotel that wasn't nearly as nice or as clean as the resort. Not being "immersed in the magic" the whole trip. I dunno. It just wasn't the same. For me anyway.

If we do get FD when it is offered and then we have to change the dates of our reservation to one or two less days, does Disney cancel the reservation and then make a new one for the new dates, or the reservation just gets modified?

You just love working with numbers don't you? Some people just have this kinship with Math. I guess bottom line will be, making a quick decision once FD drop...so get ready with your backup's 1,2,3 and 4! I feel your pain.
I'm an engineer, so yes, I love math!
