Having an existing reservation is not going to help you get FD. It doesn't matter if you're booked at CS or FQ. When FD comes out you will have to make a new FD reservation based on what is available, just like everyone else. My point was, if you don't get FD and your preference is FQ, you should keep that reservation for now.
I know that my resort choice won't help me get FD.

I was wondering if it made sense to move the reservation now to make it easier to add FD later.

I'm going regardless but will definitely want to take advantage of FD. It's more important than resort choice.

Okay, yet another "modify" question.

I made my own reservation online some time ago. Never made any changes. Didn't have a modify button.

About a week ago it shows up "change reservation".

But when I click on that button, all it does is circle back to my reservation page. I don't see where I can actually do anything.

If I click on the "show details", I also have a "Change" button. But it does the same thing. I just end up back at my main reservations page.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this a glitch?

I'm really thinking I'm just going to book a new reservation, but if there were an easy way to modify, I'd just do that.

Instead of getting a gc for staying at CBR I was moved to SS for the same price. I have been told that I would still be eligible for FD and be able to keep the SS room at the same price. It would essentially be the "double dipping" like the gc. My question is would it be better for me to book another reservation and then call to have the price changed? And how would the gc/room change stuff work if we changed dates?

Is there a special number to call GR or do we just go through the main modify reservation number?
Neeky 78, Thank you for the information. I plan on doing exactly what you're doing.

I'm wondering the same thing about which number to use. I don't want to wait unnecessarily with other people and be transferred , when I can get direct access. Is it Guest Relations for Disney World or CBR? I don't even know if there are two guest relations.

This is exactly what keeps happening with mine!! I try 2-3 times of day, on my laptop, iPad and phone, and with different browsers (chrome, safari, Firefox). It's driving me NUTS. Anyone know of a solution?

Us too! My thoughts are that the TA has all of these other people to take care of so she may not be able to get to everyone!:rotfl:

2013 I recall a lot of frantic DISers who did not hear from their TA for more than 24 hours after FD dropped. Sounded like TAs were calling in, waiting hours to speak to someone and then spending a long time taking care of all their clients. I think they call got their FD but did not know for a day that they did.

Hi, joining in. We're planning to go from Dec 16-23 and am wanting free dining. We booked through a TA in January and locked in the old rates for tickets and dining plan originally at Pop but with the gift card offer we moved it to CBR. However, she has said she gets up at 6am and according to what this thread is saying free dining will open up at 4am. So should I get up at 4 am and try to book it myself and if I do can it then be transferred to her to still have the locked in ticket rate and gift card offer on CBR? I'm so worried! I got a TA so I wouldn't have to worry about it but she is saying there will be less rooms for the FD this year due to all the construction so it isn't a guarantee. I have a hard time leaving it to someone else, I'm worried she won't get it as fast as I could. Any thoughts?
I would book yourself just to make sure

If you make your own the TA can then take over the reservation; you just have to give her reservation number and fill out a form
Thank you! I wonder if I will still be able to keep my locked in rates for the tickets and the room GC at CBR or it will be a new reservation?

So since the actual booking date was beforehand I would assume so.. since you are only modifying and not making a new reservation.
Your reservation number, dates you have to pay the trip by etc. all stay the same so I believe you would lock in that GC... If not and there was an issue I would basically complain my point until I got my way.

Oh my gosh this is great. I do all this research and think I know all there is and then someone tells me something great like this!

I just bought Touring Plans for the first time last week. They are so great, the only thing they could be better about is making it easier to find their different services. I didn't know they had the hotel layouts and room pictures until I read about it on here. I've heard about the ressie thing but haven't run across it yet. The layout could be better.

I'm with you, I don't think I could give up the control to a TA. Especially when I've read that some TA's won't get up early to try for free dining. On another note, isn't there a certain terminology you are supposed to use when requesting connecting rooms? I think it is either "adjoining" or "connecting" but one means having the door in the rooms that opens up and the other just means that they are right next to each other. I remember the last time we went the cm on the phone asked which I wanted. Just wanted to make sure you request the right thing if that's what you were wanting :)
I used a TA in 2014. She was amazing and sometimes up with me texting/emailing @ 3am......but for me, being one who wants to build spreadsheets and control most every aspect.....I feel the need to do it on my own.

If you type in Dining Reservation in their search bar it will be the first thing to pop up.. your allowed 2 active searches at a time

And you're right. . . I believe connecting rooms have a door in the middle connecting them, while adjoining rooms are just in close proximity of one another, not necessarily even on the same floor. Thanks for the reminder!
Unfortunately for me, I've requested connecting rooms and never been successful.....I need better luck? lol

I have a TP membership and I love it! Although their crowd level prediction calendars seem to be off. Always assume there will be more crowds than what they say. The lines app is great too. It has the real ride wait times, not the ones disney posts for crowd control.

The FD promotion normally does not allow double dipping. If you change to FD, your ticket price will increase to the current pricing. As for the GCs at CBR, no one knows what they're going to do with that. The fact that the offer of GCs no longer exists seems to say that when you change to FD, you're making a new reservation, and those will go away. OR they may not include CBR in the free dining offer at all. This is one that will have to wait until it happens.

Coronado Springs doesn't do FD, either?

And I'm not sure what you mean by getting FD any easier? I'm looking to take advantage of it if it shows up...just like everyone here, I think?

CSR does normally offer free dining. POFQ usually does not. If FD is your goal, then I would probably change any current reservation to CSR and hope you have the "modify button" that will allow you to make the change online without calling.

The problem is there is no way of predicting which resort, which rooms within each resort, and how many of said rooms will be available, if any. That's why it is suggested that if you're going no matter what, you book at the resort you really want to stay in and make changes when/if FD comes out.
