Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

We had to pick a day when we registered.

Ah ha! My husband registered him while I took care of myself for the half - I never saw what he actually picked, I didn't realize there was a choice at the time. We're down for Friday! So excited!

I'm very excited about the routes. The only other race weekend I have done is Princess, so running DHS and AK will be new for me.

I was hoping that there might be some sort of after party or celebration announced, but it seems like that's not going to happen.

Anyone pick up on the opening letter in the event guide how it says 5k for Padawans, 10k for rebels & Jedi master for the challenge - um did the person who wrote it forget this is Darkside and those people aren't part of that theme! My mom who is running was really annoyed with it since someone didn't take them time and care to get it correct for the darkside theme (unless they copied from lightside which is just as bad) & I said whelp that's runDisney for you

Try Chrome or IE. It wouldn't work for me on Safari or Firefox.

Man, I had the worst time last night. I appreciated your advice here, and I gave it a shot - but no dice. However, this afternoon, no problems! No matter what browers and/or device I use. So now I can at least see everything

I wonder when we'll find out about the merchandise that will be available...

Has anyone figured out the active results url yet? I know that's how we often get our bibs early but I can't figure this one out since their is Dark Side and Light Side now.

I did not notice that, but that's pretty bad.

Dark Side Challenge should be Sith Lord, 10K Stormtroopers, etc.

I guess I am so beaten down by runDisney at this point that if cutting and pasting meant we got the event guide as early as we did, then yay. *slow clap* Well done, runDisney. You have officially broken my spirit.

Lolz. If only it were! I never said it was. I guess it's more beaten down in how little I expect from them at this point. I was just trying to be slightly humorous. Anyone who has the ability to complain about anything Disney theme park related they can afford to go to still has reason to be grateful. May the Force be with you.

I'm running the 10K: the 4m-5m portion looks BORING. I was really hoping for some scenery to get me through that part. lol

The segment between miles 4 and 5 was the exact same as part of the Wine and Dine course (only in reverse). It went by pretty fast, and it might be a spot where they choose to put some entertainment or character spots to break it up. At Wine and Dine, I seem to remember police cars and trucks that had music playing, which lifted my spirits and got my adrenaline going.

I think the courses look really fun! I agree with concerns about the Boardwalk and Hollywood Studios paths being really congested since they're at the beginning of the half course, but I'm so jealous! And even though it's a short segment, it's nice that the course at least enters a little bit of Hollywood Studios. This is now going to be the only half that enters 3 parks, since it sounds like for Wine and Dine this year the DHS segment will not be there (but I also wonder if this course is a one-year thing, and will change for next year).

I can't believe it's getting so close for all of you! I hope you have an amazing time and I will be jealously cheering you on from home.

First time Disney runner here. Kind of disappointed that none of the courses go through MK. Looking at the map, it looks like they won't be running by the AT-AT in DHS either. Bummer.

Any suggestions on how a spectator can see runners in multiple spots (besides start & finish, of course) for the half marathon?

It doesn't work on the PC because they set the CSS visibility to hidden - you can change it to show via Firefox, but it doesn't matter yet as it is not populated (as you said). I'm guessing iPhone is just crappy and the webbrowser does not adhere to the HTML standards as well as others.

Edit: just as I say this, it looks like they changed it, but it still shows nothing. Looks like they are working on it, so hopefully in the next few days we'll have bib numbers

I was disappointed too since I love running through Main Street in Disneyland but then I decided it just means I'll have to come back for another race that does go through MK!

So I'm looking at the expo info and if I'm reading this right, there will be 2 runDisney merchandise booths, one at packet pick up and one on the expo floor. Is this always the case for Disney World? That sounds great to me because then I can look at the Disney Merch. and get out before I stop at every.single.booth hahahaha

Yes. There's always one on the second level of the packet pickup area, then the second in the Jostens Center. Normally, the Jostens one will have more varied merch to choose from (plus whatever is at the other location). At least that was my experience for the WDW Marathon weekend.

Running through MK is great for sure but I'll take this course over the January half or Princess half that go through MK.The basic problem with a half at MK is that MK is pretty far away from most everything which means you'll end up running about 8 miles on World dr. with not much else.The Osceola pkwy stretch to AK is also pretty får but with DHS,WWoS and the Boardwalk in the area it makes for a more interesting,varied course.
