Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Someone in my running club got an email back from Disney saying all resorts will be host resorts. Hoping that is true!

Still waiting on our club to get our allocation. I can't believe Disney is being so slow about it this time. I'm #2 on that list so I should get in no problem but I hate not knowing.

I was curious so I just checked. The half, 10k and 5k are still available for early registration. Nuts! I really thought it would go sooner, so I hope that RD doesn't take this as less of an interest when judging whether or not to have any extra parties/events that weekend.

Also just started thinking if this falls during season of the force, that may be why no after party or no night run. If they already have something going on at the park...

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I realize the race registration is non refundable however, I am looking to get pregnant around December and would be 16-20 weeks pregnant at the race. I am a runner so no problems there my Dr. said. However, last pregnancy I went into labor at 22 weeks and put on bedrest the rest of the pregnancy. If this pregnancy was to experience problems I would have to not travel and run. I am signing up for the challenge 10k and half. Will Disney allow you to defer for medical reasons or would I lose the $330? Are there any insurances you know of that I can purchase for medical reasons that refund race fees? Thanks!

If by 'season of the force' you mean Star Wars weekends, then no - those start in May and go thru Mid June. Usually there is something on 'May the Fourth Be With You Day' but still a few weeks after this....fingers crossed for a party!!

Season of the Force is the new event they announced at D23 that will happen in the first part of 2016 at both Hollywood Studios and Disneyland. Many people think it is going to start with the Disneyland Star War Half and end with the Disney World Star Wars Half.

You can book your travel through runDisney and buy insurance through them. I am not sure what their policy is on pregnancy etc but it is worth calling. They told me from Wine and Dine their insurance covers everything including cost of bib which most insurances won't core.

Adding to what @wilkeliza said above, you will not get money back from this, but you can defer to the following year. I think it opens a couple of months before.

I had not heard this theory yet, love it! I hope they announce more info soon!

My POT 10k is in the morning. Don't need to be fast...just faster than my last 10k (in the rain, with 60k people). Undertrained but this kicks off my training for DL SW race.

After I am stopping by target to load up on Disney gc with my 5+5 discount to pay for wine n dine and SW DL trips.

@Sammyjo199 another note on deferrals - it will close at some point and there are only a certain number of spots available for deferrals. And it Will's be an additional cost for you to do so...FYI.

Are you talking about 5% for the red card, plus 5% pharmacy rewards? I thought I read they weren't giving that for Disney Gift Cards anymore? I'd love to find out whoever reported that was wrong!

It's odd...some people told me no...but it rang up that way.

I hope that this is true. =) I already booked a 2 bedroom villa at BLT.

Im in. (well not till tuesday. lol) We have a DVC in estoppal...why couldn't it have already closed so I could pre-register?? lol. This will be my first disney race. We are planning on flying in friday or so, running saturday and sunday and then getting on dream monday and coming back the next weekend to parks with less craziness to actually tour the parks. Our twins will be 14 months. Of course this will all be moot if I don't get a spot in the challenge. What time does registration open? I need to be online right then!

This is our first RunDisney race, and we're trying t decide whether or not to shell out the $$ to stay on property and take dis transportation on race day or to stay off property for free at my parents condo.

I see some other races have finished at Epcot, so parking was at Epcot with shuttles busses taking people over to WWoS for the start. Since this race starts at Epcot and finishes at WWos would the opposite be true?

And also, do we know which resorts are host resorts, or are ALL resorts hosting for this?

They might not have a huge bash, but most of the day races have beer trucks in the post-finish area. Grabbing a few beers, taking pictures with the characters, and listening to the music is not a bad way to wind down after a race.

I agree that's not a bad way to end a race. We just finished Disneyland 1/2 weekend events and they were awesome! ( I know that was a special event due to 60th celebration- but now I'm spoiled :wizard:
