Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Last year's 5k I was in C and my bib # was 45983. Other years my bib number had 4 digits.

Thank you for that. We are 444xx so I hope that is C this year as well. We switch hotels that day from BWV to BLT, and I'd like to start the process early.

Frost in Florida in February is almost unheard of.

I only say this because for the second time in 10 years, my parents have a fire going in their fireplace in Orlando.

Weather is ... weather. You can't truly predict it, but you can hope to get close.

I find February to be very fickle in terms of weather. My two PHMs (14 & 15) have been worlds apart weather wise. And that same week is Massachusetts school vacation week, so I've been there frequently that week since 1986. Weather has generally been nice, but plenty of hot and cold years.

To top it off, for my freshman year I went to college at UCF in Orlando, and it snowed one day, in early February. It was hilarious. No one knew what to do or say. As a New Englander I enjoyed the show.

You can sign up for Runner Tracking too now, here's the link http://results.xacte.com/track?id=1202 or look under spectator on Run Disney's page.

I set up to track my sister in law !

One thing I always do is actually track myself. There are stories each year about issues with people B-tag not working properly. By tracking myself (I run with my phone for music) I also get a text as I cross the start, 5k, 10k, 15k and finish lines. My thinking is, if anything were to go wrong, I would know and could take care of it right away. It also serves as a back up in the event my GPS watch did something wonky and I couldn't rely on it for my time.

And while we are talking tag issues, make sure your tag is not covered as you cross the start. Particularly if you have a mylar blanket. Last year, it was freezing for the 5k and 10k to start. There were issues where people who had old mylar blankets to keep warm pre race and ran over the start line with it on did not get there start recorded correctly. The mylar interferes with the timing chip. They made announcements at the 10k because lots of people had them from the 5k the day before, but I still saw people wear them over the line.

Oh, I'm sure they will. They're notoriously slow, so I just want to make sure I get it handled sooner rather than later.
But man - I wished my corral reflected a corral he would be placed in!!! :cool1:

Anyway, looks like I'm in A for the 5K and H for Glass Slipper (which a quick Google search estimates B or C for the 10k). I'll take it!
And, really, I would love it if my bib says Princess "Husband's Name".
Good luck getting it all sorted out!!

I'm in Corral D for the half and I'd love to know what corral I'm in for the 10k. Last year I was in Corral A for the 5k & B for the 10k, so I'm curious to know. I'm dropping back to run with my BF for the 5k & 10k this year so it's more a level of curiosity than anything. Plus, I'd love to know what Corral BF gets assigned for both the 5k/10k.

Does any of you wonderfully tech savvy folks know of a way to find out all the bib #s (starting point, ending point)?

Bit of a random question, does anyone know if there is wifi in the Epcot parking lot? Or only in Epcot itself...

Yes, I do too! It's great knowing right away the B-tag works! It also really helped during the marathon last month checking the alerts to know I was under the 16mm pace officially (the struggle was real being sick). I had my watch splits going but I couldn't mentally handle calculating overall pace, so the alerts were awesome!

Good luck Princesses too!

I also track myself and any friends I have running. I forgot to track myself last year and it was a regret. Live & learn. I track everyone and their mother now!

I also set up my husband and my dad to receive tracking...whether they like it or not!

I was trying to figure things out, but can't find anything super useful. That said, I believe there are around 13500 runners in the 10k, 8129 from the GSC and if you look at the 10k list on MarathonFoto, I can't find a bib # higher than 354xx, which would equate to around 5400. Now I didn't go through every name, but I looked through a few hundred at least, so you'd think it would be a decent sampling of numbers. With 5 corrals, thats about 2700 per corral, but I believe the corrals start a little smaller and get a little bigger, though that may only be for the half. But what the mix is (i.e A has 1500 from the 10k only runners and 1200 GSC runners) is anyone's guess. I checked last years results, and there were 11K+ finishers then.

i now see my mistake the bib that looked like a G in the picture was actually a C. Ill leave the sleuthing to Sherlock lol
Thats the problem I am finding. I can find lots of pictures of bibs but I can't always make out the corral letters. I usually wouldn't have time for all this sleuthing, but we are getting a big snowstorm and its a snow day here. Kids are off playing, so I am trying to figure things out:)

Just to give people an idea of when there corral would go off, I did find a helpful guide to anticipated start times for the PHM corrals. I found it at this website: http://noguiltlife.com/2016-princess-half-marathon-event-guide-corrals/

I checked my Garmin history to compare and it is the same. Went off at 5:48 in 2014 when I was in F and 6:05 in 2015 when I started with my sister we were supposed to be in I but somehow got caught up with J when things started moving. Going to have to be pushier this year I guess;)

I am going to put a photo in from last year...we did NOT test these outfits before race day. I can't figure out how to make this smaller

You guys looked great!

Hey y'all! Long time lurker, but now I'm too excited to keep from joining the fun! My group will be in corral M. This will be our first half marathon, although we've each done many shorter races. We'll be the princess Minnie bunch. Counting the days!! ::MinnieMo
Welcome! Love your outfits  good luck!

I'm wondering since 10k corrals were not released if they are going to do the same as the 5k, we won't find out until we get our bibs.
you will not get corrals for 5k until you pick up your bib at the expo.

+1 for sending tracking info to myself. I actually get the texts to my phone as well as the emails and I keep them in my photo folders so I can look back at them. I have lost garmin info from runs, so I like having at least a pace overview.

I set my husband up for it too, lol. And he won't be with me on this trip, he will be visiting his daughters in NC, trying to sleep in on a Sunday morning. :rotfl2:

Hubby is in C and I'm in D, so we will be in D! ;)

I have a non-running question for you all... does anyone own a reasonably priced portable charger for your phone that you would recommend? I have an iPhone 5 and I know for sure the battery will not last me an entire day in the parks.

Does the tracking actually alert your phone with noises or buzzing? Is it like text messages you get throughout the morning? DH and the kids will have arrived late at night on Saturday, so I wanted them to sleep in on Sunday. But I wanted him to get updates in case he was awake and wanted them :)

It's just a normal text message.

I've had my morphine for almost three years now and it has held up very well. It usually can hold 1 1/2 full charges, and it is small and compact.
