Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Ok, so maybe I'm a bit confused. I found my bib number, and searched for a Glass Slipper Challenge corral placement list from last year which puts me in F. Is that just for the half? Do I get a different one for the 10K?

Yes...you will have two letters on your bib...one for 10k and other for half.

yes, you will be in a different corral for the 10k. You will have 2 corrals on your bib. Last year I was A/F (A for the 10k and F for the half)

Is this a separate link for the 5k or no?
When you search "Disney" in the events on the main Marathonphoto page, there wasn't a 5K in the listed events.
But if you want try this list and tell me if you pop up:

(I am not sure if this is the 5K list. But the occasionRef for the Half and 10K are "26802016WC" and "26802016WA"- so it stands to reason there should be a "26802016WB". Which produces a list- which is probably the 5K ? since it looks like the Kid Races lists all end in a number (W9))

UPDATE: This seems to be the 5K

This is kind of fun for me but I wish they would send us the official stuff already!

I should point out that even when we get our bib numbers for the 5K, they won't really mean anything because there's no chart for it like the other races.

Quick question. Are we able to send the merchandise we purchase a the expo back to our rooms? Im in the middle of planning my day and realized that I dont want to carry Dooney and Burke purses around. Thanks

I would be thrilled to be in A for the 10K. Is there a chart that shows 10K placement for the challenge from past years? I can't find one anywhere.

My or my BF wasn't listed in the 'WB' list ... looks like we continue to wait! :)

Cool. I would be "I" if the corral numbers are the same which is about where I estimated I would be. I'll have barely missed H though if that's the case.

It's cool, runDisney. I'll just keep waiting...

You're taking too long. I died already.

I would be in I too! DD26 would be in H. She is not dropping back to run with me lol. After trying that at "the horror that was W&D" we won't ever try to do that again. Unless I go to Colorado to run a marathon in October with her. Then I told her she has to run with me so she can pick me up and carry me to the finish when I die from running at high altitude! :)

That had me & my BF on it with different BIB #s ...we might be getting closer.

And did someone say if you are doing GSC, you get one Bib # but two different corrals for 10k/Half? Which corral grids do you go by?

You look at the Glass Slipper Corrals, and what that gives you is your corral for the half. There are far fewer corrals for the 10k, so its a different corral system and set up. I believe its A-E for the 10k vs, A - P for the Half. In previous years, I have not seen a release for the 10k corrals with bib numbers. You won't know your 10k corral until you pick up your bib. But as an idea, for 2014 and 2015 doing GSC I was B for the 10k and F for the Half. For 2015 my sister was C and I. So every few half corrals make up a 10k. Not sure of the breakdown, but maybe something like A to D for the half is A in the 10k, E - H in the half is B in the 10k and so on. I am sure that is not it, but its something on that idea.

Here is a link to the 2015 GSC corrals for reference:

This is my first runDisney event. How serious are they about not picking up packets for others? I fly in Thursday afternoon & was was going to head to the expo right from the airport. My niece is flying in Friday -- if I have her waiver, can I pick up for her? Do they check IDs with the waivers? (Most other races that I have done it is totally okay to pick up other people's stuff.)

In my experience, they're very serious about you having your ID when you pick up your bib. There were too many people reselling their bibs to people who couldn't get in, or because they could not run and missed the deferral window. Only possibility would be if your niece is under 18. ID is only required for those 18 and over I believe. I know I can pick up my kids 5k waivers without them there.

Edited to add: found this on runDisney.com. Looks like 18 is the cutoff:

Waivers
  • Waivers will be provided online approximately two weeks before the race.
  • You must have your signed waiver and a Photo ID with you to pick up your race packet.
  • A parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the waiver for any participant under 18 years old. No exceptions will be made.
Packet Pick-Up
  • You must pick up your own participant packet (which includes your event-issued bib number and timing device) during regularly scheduled hours. Individuals will no longer be able to pick up participant packets on behalf of others.
  • Download and complete your personalized race waiver on-line (available approximately one month prior to event).
  • Visit the Disney Health & Fitness Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to pick up your Race Packet
  • You must have a valid ID in order to pick up your packet (driver's license, passport, Military ID, Government issued ID.)
  • If you do not have a valid photo ID we cannot issue you your race bib. No exceptions will be made.

Does anyone have an Enchanted 10k Corral listing from last year? I was able to find my DS and my bib#'s (thanks sidrich), but I'm as curious though not as good a runner to do a half to find out corral possibilities!

Can we go back to shopping talk? I have never run with sunglasses before, but watching video of the half marathon makes me wonder if I am going to want some. Does anyone have a brand they can recommend?
