Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Hey guys! Here's to hoping that we get our bib numbers and corrals today. I just thought of something about the waivers though. If I'm doing the 5k and the GSC will I need to print out two copies?

My guess is two waivers. Last year I did the 5K and 10K and had to print two waivers so I would think this year I'll print one for the 5K and one for GSC.

Yes, one waiver needs to be handed in at the counter where you get 5k bib, another at GSC counter.

I was so determined to get 5 miles in this morning, that I wound up running an extra 1/4 mile because I was in the zone! LOL I probably could have kept going, but 1) I had to get to work, and 2) I didn't want to overdo it. It was a very frigid 28*F when I started out, but it felt really good to not be on the treadmill. I'll take having to wear tons of layers and be cold over having to be stuck on the treadmill all the time.

My fiancé has come down with the creeping crud, and yesterday I started feeling a tickle in my throat, some sneezing and the sniffles started. I put myself to bed early last night, and felt well enough to run this morning, so I'm hoping I can fight this off. With three weeks till our trip, I can't afford to be getting sick now.

One GSC waiver, one 5K waiver. Two different bib pick-up stops.

I posted this in Running Costumes but only got one opinion... I know all of us on here have opinions (lol!) so can I hear some??

For Princess I am running as Mrs. Incredible. I have a red tank that I am putting an iron on patch on. The directions say to "set" the patch by washing the shirt on hot water. I am nervous to do this as we all know what happens when you wash a red shirt in hot water! i have already washed the tank in cold water. Wanting opinions on whether it would be fine to just put the patch on and run Princess without washing it with the patch on it first? My DD26 thinks I should just put the patch on and wash in hot water like the directions say. I do have some color catcher sheets I could wash with it. I'm nervous about the shirt shrinking too. Decisions, decisions! And I'm running out of time to decide!

What material is the shirt? Is it a Dri-Fit or more of a cotton mix? What type of Iron on sheet is it? I have had minimal issues with red Dri Fit material colors running. Cotton is a whole different story...
I have made plenty of shirts for races that I have not washed before decorating. I think for this one, I would probably pre wash the tank in cold water, air dry, apply the heat transfer and then not wear it until race.
I have heard that a vinegar rinse helps keep the color, but I would hate smelling like vinegar for a run.

I've also read about setting dyes with salt. Either salt or vinegar- you would treat the shirt before you put on the decal- so no worries about smelling like vinegar on the run.
But I think it is a bit odd that they say to wash it in hot water- usually that's a big no no with iron in transfers- in case the high heat from hot water or a hot dryer melts the decal. Warm water maybe?

It's a dri-fit tech tank top. No cotton at all. I have washed it once in cold water and hung to dry. Yeah, I am reluctant to wash it in hot! The iron on is like a paper transfer? I got it on Etsy and that's what the printed directions say to do. I want to do a run in my costume this Saturday. Maybe I will wear it, wash it in cold water with vinegar, hang dry, then put the decal on and wear it for the race without washing again. I don't have time to order another decal if I mess it up lol! I did order 2 but one of them is too big for this shirt. Seriously, if this is my biggest problem I am probably ok lol. Thanks for the input @sidrich & @Fruto76!

I have been in Zombie Mode for the last week. According to my doctor, there doesn't appear to be anything bacterial, so I just have to wait for the virus to run its course. Pretty much my entire day is working, putting the kids to bed, and sleeping. I've missed my last 2 weekday runs, but I did manage to somehow complete 12.5 miles on Sunday (then went back to sleep, woke up to put the kids to bed, then went back to sleep).I can't get over this soon enough!

Just as a warning, the red tech shirt from one year's Indianapolis Mini Marathon is the reason I now have a pink runDisney shirt and visor. >:(

Hi all, I'm new here! This is my first half marathon and RunDisney race, and I'm getting super excited!

I'm trying to plan out my schedule for the morning of and I'm a little nervous about the transportation. Do you think I'm okay lining up for the shuttle bus at 3:45am to make the 4:00am cut off time? I may have trouble sleeping the night before, so trying to squeeze in any extra time I can! (Staying at All-Star Sports, if that makes a difference)

Thanks, and apologies if this has been answered before... Everything in this thread is very helpful, but there's so much here it would be easy to miss!

That should be fine to catch a bus. Don't freak out when you see a line of princess waiting for the buses. And if you are nervous that way then plan to be in the bus line earlier. They send the buses around pretty steady. Also your friends and family can ride the bus with you....but it is nice to let runner board and if there is room then others and also let the runner sit rather than stand if the driver allows more on bus than seats.
