Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I put my name on the waiting list for a Harvey's Minnie Mouse hipster and about a week later they emailed me that one was in stock. It should be here in a few days. I guess I did things a little backward and rewarded myself before the run instead of after. I can't wait to get it. And the heck of it is, I would have never know about the Harvey's bags if I hadn't been a member or not. I don't know whether to thank you all or not. Haha. ;-)

When it comes to Disney races, this is exactly how I do it - I almost always buy before! Reasons:

1. Good Disney stuff sells fast, so it might be out of stock again if I wait!
2. I can use my new stuff for the entire trip! (Well, I didn't actually use my 26.2 mickey string bag from etsy until after I finished the marathon - too superstitious.)
3. I've been to three runDisney expos with my three boys. It's not easy for me to shop there.

So I'm already wearing the minnie ugg slippers and my harveys minnie coin purse will arrive in a few days too! Still thinking about that 19.3 Raw Threads hoodie . . .

Hope everyone stays safe and warm in the storm!

Does any one think that 3 hours at the expo is a reasonable amount of time to be there? I was going to arrive at 10 and leave at 1 to catch a 1:45 ressie at BOG. I just need to pick up my racing packet and bib and then I wanted to buy a jacket. Those are my two goals

Magic Bands stuck or delayed because of snow storm!

Same. Both boxes in Tennessee. Sigh.

kelly...even if you don't get the DME packet, you can give the DME people your luggage tag receipt things and they'll pull the bags. But it means the bags will have already been on the carousel, and many people feel that you might as well just grab your bags anyway.

Thanks for everyone who gave me treadmill advice this weekend. I did a short run only to remember that in addition to being a treadmill ours is a treadmill that sucks and the belt sometimes catches when going faster than 20min miles so I had to do intervals and hold on the entire time so as not to kill myself. It was not the most productive workout but with 2ft of snow what can you do. I'm going to give the snow another day to melt and hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get back to running outside.

That's more than enough time. It takes about 30 minutes to get your bib and shirts. After that, you can spend as much or as little time shopping as you want.

This may be a stupid question, but I'm a little confused about all the luggage tags. The yellow DME tags go on my checked luggage, right? And then do I put the tags that we got with our magic bands on our carry on luggage, or should they go on checked luggage too? I think we are only checking one bag.

The cute tags you got with your bands are just for fun. There is no need to use them at all. Or do use them. Up to you. You got them because you booked a package. Not everyone gets them.

The yellow sticky luggage tags from your magical express packet go on checked bags at your home airport. They are what the DME employees look for behind the scenes to know what bags to put on the trucks to get the bags to the resorts.

My Magic Bands and Magical Express tags arrived last week making this seem very real!
I have made no decision on what I'm going to wear though. Am I the only one?
I know I will wear a sparkle skirt, and that I am comfortable in that for that distance. Just need to pick a color. And match a top to it.

Ok, this makes me kinda nervous because our DME tags/info packet have not arrived yet, but our MBs have. I used the website to link our flight info to our reservation instead of calling it in like I did last year, and this is making me think it didn't work... :(

That's plenty of time to get your bib & t-shirt and do some shopping at the Expo. I'd allow more time to get to MK for your ADR at BOG (wow, that's a lot of acronyms! lol), since the buses from the Expo don't go to the parks. They only go to & from the resorts, so you'll need to catch a resort bus and then hop on a MK bus from whichever bus you caught. If I were you, I'd leave the Expo at 1215-1230 at the latest.

called last week and checked ... cast member said we're in the system and should be getting our tags "any day now" ..... but we're in the same boat .... we received our bands, but no Magical Express tags .... a few weeks to worry about it still .... and worse case is I wait at the carousel and take my bags to the bus.

Just got off the phone (I love their bright & cheery attitudes!), and they said that it showed that they shipped our DME packet on Tuesday last week, so it should arrive by the end of this week. Since it is a standard envelope and not parcel post like our MBs were, they didn't have tracking info on it. But, she said "Rest assured, it's been sent to you and your Magical Express reservation is all set, so all you have to do is scan your Magic Bands when you arrive and you will be able to board the Magical Express bus to your resort". That's such a relief! I wasn't so much concerned about our luggage since we don't mind retrieving those (we had to do that in 2014 when our flight arrived after midnight), but I wanted to make sure we had transportation to/from our resort. I didn't utilize DME in 2013, and the taxi from/to the airport was almost $100 including tip each way!

What number did you call?

I always input mine online for what it's worth.

WDW Travel: (407) 939-1936

If anyone is nervous about Magical Express I'd call them directly as Disney contracts this service out to a transportation company. That number is 866-599-0951.
