Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

So what is everyone's opinion? Hydration belt or hand held water bottle. I haven't worn a hydration belt but carried a hand held during my first half. Thoughts?
Neither. I usually don't bring water on my training runs because I can't be trusted not to drink the whole thing during the first mile. Easier to just not bring it and run home every so often when I need it. I usually need water every 3-5 miles.

Ok. For those of you who have run the PHM before, how far in advance did they release bib numbers and corrals? I know this year has been different with things like the medals and such but I know the WDW marathon and Star Wars run coming up had their bibs and waiver out significantly earlier than the two weeks it specified on the site.

In my experience, it has always usually been at the 30-day mark. At least for the waivers/bib numbers, anyway. The official event guide with corral assignments may take a little bit longer to be released.

I don't think the half marathon shirt will be yellow, if it were then the ribbon would blend in completely and they usually seem to like to make them stand out looking at the past ones.

I agree. I'm hoping the shirt will be purple or teal. That would pair nicely with the yellow gold color. Now trying to plan my post-race day outfits to go with the ribbon! Cuz I'm :banana:.

So I noticed the marathon shirts were all long sleeve. Is this normal? Any shot PHM will ever get long sleeve shirts?

My take on the PHM medal is that the crazy different yellow ribbon is to make it stand out from the other race medals, since it's the marquee event of the weekend. They want to make it really different. :)

1 month ahead of time. They won't be out until after Star Wars in Disneyland.

PHM shirts are almost certainly going to be short-sleeved. I don't think they have been short-sleeved every year, but they have been since at least 2011.

Yup!! No "no" means YES!!! At least in my house that is!!!

Great minds think alike!

Keah…I am also going to defer the 10K. I diagnosed with cancer on Nov. 13, and I am scheduled to have chemo earlier that week, and there is just no way that my body will be able to race by the weekend, let alone train for the race. It is my hope and prayer that I will be recovered enough to race in 2017.

Do you know when deferrals open up? I emailed runDisney back in November and they told me it would be today (Jan. 5) but didn't give me a time.

Praying @MaryJ that your treatments are successful and you kick cancers butt and are back to racing soon!

I use a Nathan handheld bottle. I love it! I like my water when I want my want vs waiting it out for the water stops and it's easy enough to fill during the half. I won't carry it for the 5K but likely will for the 10K, especially if it's warm. I honestly don't even notice mine is there.

I would guess that there will be no pink shirts. I think they'll be in the same color scheme as the ribbons.

I'm also hoping for no yellow shirts, but if we get one its not the end of the world. At least it'll maybe match one of my sparkle skirts!

As for medals, I am in love with them. I was expecting a return to gold, even if I prefer silver. But I actually love the bursts of color and how they tie in to the race theme. Can't wait to have that stack in my arm for photos!

I'm thinking the half ribbon is more the color of sand instead of orange. At least that's what I'm hoping!!

Our situation is kind of complicated: my bf & his brother will be running the 5K together, then four of us (me, bf, his brother, brother's gf) will be doing the 10K, and then me & brother's gf will be doing the half (going for the GSC). Registration this year is going to be a major pain! Thank goodness I'm only registering the two of us, rather than all four of us. I had considered doing all three races so I can go for the Triple Crown (ha, I love that term), but since this is my first time going for the GSC, I want to see how my body does with two longer races back-to-back first. Maybe I will in 2017.

Luv2Run, could you please add me to the roster for half marathon and the 5K? Thanks!!

Are the corral assignments only for the half? Or do they apply in general to all the PHM races that weekend?

There are separate corral assignments for 10K, half marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge participants*. The 5K gets corrals assigned as well, but they won't be released ahead of time like the other events.

*Glass Slipper Challenge participants will get one corral assignment for the 10K and 1 for the half.

What are you guys all planning on doing for breakfast after the half? I don't have any specific plans but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it until our lunch reservation at noon on just the finish snack box. Does Epcot have any good options for quick breakfast?

France for a quiche/pastry and a delicious mimosa! They open to serve breakfast when the park opens.
