Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

That surprises me. I thought those were already banned. Perhaps just not enforced?

Yes, they should have been banned, but I saw plenty of them. I was surprised, because in my previous two PHM weekends, I don't recall seeing full masks, but I saw some spiderman masks that were over the whole face, and Captain America and Batman that covered the majority of the face.

Did anybody see the photo New Balance posted on IG? It's about the new shoes and there is a black feather, a yellow bow, and what appears to be the shell necklace that Ursula traps Ariel's voice in. So I'm guessing Dumbo, Belle, and Ursula or Ariel?!

Didn't see it, but very interesting. I'll have to go look for it;) One model of the NB shoes is my type of shoe, neutral cushioning. I can't remember which it is. But I have never been a huge fan of the designs available for that style, so I am always anxious to see the new styles! Thanks for sharing:)

Trying to plan park hours before my FP time opens tonight. Anyone know what the expo hours are for Thursday?

Sorry if I said all this 6 hours ago. Weight Watchers changed their program, I'm trying to get back to goal so I'm following it as they tell us to follow it for the first 4 weeks (my choice, they say nothing about 4 weeks), I'm HUNGRY and cranky and not having fun, and all this change is Not Good for my wimpy little soul.

Not to go OT here, but I didn't even make it 4 days. I'm done.

Can anyone tell me if I buy a cheer squad package (looking at the gold) will my husband be able to get into the finish line area?
I'm not wanting to buy a park pass for Sunday seeing we are leaving in the afternoon. All I care about is that he can be at the finish line for me.
It's just a matter if we buy a 2 day park pass or are we forced to get a 3 day. I'm just a nervous Nelly, I have a brain injury so that's why I really need to have him at the finish line to get me back to the hotel.

The finish line is not in the park. It is in the parking lot. He can get better viewing if he has a cheer pass. There are bleacher set up at the finish just for cheer packages. He can view your finish without a pass but he will have to cram his way in. Your finish time will have an effect for him too. If you are fast, less than 2 hours, then the viewing is not so bad. After two hour way more people. He can also see you run down Main Street at MK without a pass..again very crowded as more time passes.

Once you pass the finish line you will still need to walk through a roped off area. First you get your medal, then you pass the drink area where your are giving a bottle of powerade and water, then a finisher photo area..which can be skipped, then the food stop. At this point you exit and he can be waiting for you once you pass through the bag check tents. It is best to have a meet up point. Respond if you need more info. One more thing there is a medical tent right after the finish should you need it and also many helpful volunteers.

Thanks so much! I am not fast wish I was but it's OK just going for finishing. As long as he is there at the end to catch me that's all that matters. So looking forward to our first trip to WDW.

I just caught up from being a few days behind, but I had to respond to this post. I'm 56, 20 lbs overweight and a new runner/walker. I have been using the Galloway method since May. I trained for a 10K first and am now training for the Dark Side Challenge. I use a 1 minute run/45 sec walk ratio. I am slow, but that's okay. All of my friends tell me how great they think it is that I'm doing this. They wouldn't even try. Do you have access to an elliptical? I've found that it works my hip joints better than a treadmill so works well for your walking stride. Keep working, you'll get the speed.

On the survey, my husband received it but didn't care to complete it. I did it for him:)

This costume thing is news to me. I wore a full costume (Red Queen from Alice) to a MNSSHP before and had a great time. This is very disappointing but I do understand the reasoning. Safety has to come first. I've Disneybounded (is that a word?) also. It's loads of fun planning your outfit and shopping for themed accessories. Our outfits are more of a Disneybound. My DD24 and I are doing Scuttle and Sebastian for the 5K. For the 10K we're doing the pink and blue Aurora outfits. We're using running tops and sparkle skirts with some embellishments. My DD is making crowns for us.

I can't believe it's so close! I also can't believe Christmas is next Friday! Yikes!
Hi Briar Rose, I don't have access to an elliptical, but they may actually have one at the senior center I joined last year. I'll have to check that out and maybe use it at least once a week. I had a good training week this past week, and feel a lot better about the speed coming. I'm doing the race with my daughter too. You realize as of today we're just 60 days out. Oh, my.

Just finished making our FP+ reservations! We finally get to ride 7DMT and Peter Pans' Flight! I know those are kiddie rides, but with BTMRR (supposedly) closing for reno's during that time, and the fact that we normally ride Splash Mtn during Wishes, I figured we'd try something new. Still got a FP+ for Space Mtn, though.

All that's left between now and my Christmas break is a 5mi long run tomorrow, and a dreaded final paper that's due for my psych class on Monday.

We were able to get fast passes for BTMRR for 2/24 with no issues. When did you hear refurb was gonna be? Should I change mine just in case??

Dang! I had heard "early 2016" and thought that meant during our trip, but I see now that refurb doesn't begin until 4/16/16 for BTMRR. That's ok, though, we usually ride it during EMH anyway. We'll also be there on 2/24. :)

I'm sorry. There's an app DH used to use with his Fire phone that couldn't get the WW app. It still uses PointsPlus. If you don't know that app and want to still follow PP, I'll ask DH for the name. He's trying to get me to do that so I stop complaining about it all the time. He hasn't even started SP yet, the stinker. He was traveling the week before and after it started, and hasn't yet been to a WI for it, and doesn't want to start it until he's been to the meeting. I actually think it'll work wonderfully for him; I think his metabolism, which all his issues, is super-slow, and he just needs less food. Since that has been what smartpoints has done for me (negatively) I think it'll be decent for him. We'll see.

Your question was answered above (finish line is outside of the park! while some do watch from inside the park, that's not where the finish line is), so I just wonder if you wear identification that states that? I bought a RoadID bracelet that gives my info, allergies, and that I have exercise induced asthma. Might be good for you, IF you don't have something like that already.

Just realized I can do online checkin. Not sure if we have any parks planned or not, so I don't know if FP+ madness will be in my cards.

Well it could be a little nice later today for an outside run but with Christmas in less than a week, I went for the TM this morning and did around an hour and 50 minutes. TM was having some issue, as in the screen read out went blank TWICE, and I had my iPad parked in front of it and so I don't know exactly when it happened...it was a real temptation to just quit the second time but I pressed on. Time to power down until January 1. Travel, family etc.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

I like how they have rides marked for refurb on the fast pass site now. Makes it much easier to break down and figure out. I have been checking a few other sites for refurb updates too.

Is this your first rundisney event?

Yes I do have Road ID, my husband doesn't let me out of the house with out it.
It states I have a brain injury ,in case I'm talking really funny people know I'm not having a stroke. It is just normal speech for me. I have a condition called Foreign Accent Syndrome , I don't have control of my tongue so people hear many accents. My husband never knows who he is going to wake it with a Russian, Brit, Scandinavian LOL! I also have memory problems so never remember the races even right after I have ran them, I just follow the crowd. Huge step for me running on my own the past year I must make my self do it! Oh well just a bump in the road if life. As long as I know my husband will be there to catch me at the end that settles my nerves.

No, this will be my sixth rD event. I did the PHM and W&D in 2012, then did the PHM again in 2013, 2014, 2015.
