Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I will be doing the Hot Chocolate 15K in Denver next weekend for POT. Will anyone else be there?

mmmmm... hot chocolate!

Yesterday, I ran at the canal as it was a gorgeous day. As I was heading to the parking lot, sweating, breathing hard, and realizing I had to go uphill to get to my car, this adorable 3 year old boy said "wait! I get it" and he turned on the mister for me to walk through. It totally made my day!

Cool! How do I do book and get this discount? I have a Disney Visa but didn't get an email or anything.

Just call Disney and ask for the DV discount to be applied. Not sure if you have an existing reservation or are booking today but either one should be fine as long as there's availability. My CM was excited to save me money. :)

I got my discount applied today too! It didn't knock off very much since I'm staying at Pop, but I agree that every little bit helps!

Also, I was able to sneak a run in this morning, so I have running endorphins and discount endorphins making me a little happier this afternoon! ;)

I seem to be plagued with bad luck for half marathons! I hope the Princess Half will break the trend. I had food poisoning before the Tinkerbell Half and spent it in urgent care and now I am running a half on Sunday but I have come down with a terrible cold. I'm hoping it goes away and doesn't turn into anything worse before Sunday! Anyone have advice for running with a cold? I'm planning on slowing down a little and just trying to hydrate in these few days before. I have another chance for a PoT submission so I'm not really worried about getting a good time, I just really want to finally complete a race!

I contacted my travel agent and she wasn't able to find me a moderate for less than what I'm paying at Shades of Green so I guess I will keep that reservation. I may call Disney myself later and see what the values are running with the discount.

Today should be a run day but I'm making it a walk day instead. My shins are really hurting this week. Plus I have tons to do today and don't have time to shower again!

I am so sorry! Food poisoning before a race just sounds awful! Good luck this weekend. I don't have much to add other than rest as much as possible and get as much liquids in as possible.

FYI for anyone interested. I was able to book a F! dining package this morning for February. I'm not sure why it wasn't available until now.

Me too! I'm thinking it had to do with finalizing the Star Wars entertainment. Yesterday afternoon the Disney Parks Blog came out with closures for DL due to SW construction and said that DHS info would be coming out soon.

I'm so jealous of everyone that has an international airport. I have to fly out of Little Rock and it's just a national airport. Thus, none of the cheap flights for me. I paid almost $400 per ticket for our trip next week on Southwest. My DD25, coming from Denver International, 1000 miles further from MCO than me paid under $200. And she got direct flights. I have a layover in Chicago. Chicago! From Little Rock, to Chicago, to Orlando. Who plans these flights?

But very happy for you, lol! :)

I live on the FL panhandle, a six hour drive from Disney, and I pay a little over $300 to fly on one crummy airline that flies direct. (Otherwise I might as well just drive.) There is something seriously wrong with that!

I used a Running Buddy for quite some time. I liked it as long as I didn't have a lot to hold. I got it to hold my phone when I ran as I hated the armband. As long as you don't put a lot in it, it works. I tried to squeeze sunglasses in it (my eyes are super sensitive so I needed them when it got lighter for the end of the race) and it flapped forever so I ended up carrying it for 6.2 miles. I wear Sparkle Skirts now and that has eliminated the need for one and solves my sunglasses issue.

If you qualify for the military discount that should be out shortly and you could look for a moderate that way.
