Good luck!Running my first 5k this weekend! Its held by the school I work at and proceeds go towards the band. Pretty excited to see how I do with this one compared to how I will do at the Princess 5k
My training has been non-existent. I am still rehabbing this injury, and I'm not sure whether I'll be running any time soon. I'm hoping I will be at least able to start training with walking if I have to by October.
Hope you feel better soon. You're smart to focus on rehabbing instead of trying to come back too soon.
But I'm also considering the NH Marathon
Where is the 10 miler? I still need a proof of time race, and that would be right around the time I'm due for a 10 miler for my Avengers training.I am running the 10k at the NH Marathon with my sister. We're also probably doing the Granite State 10 Miler on the 18th.
No that I have seen. The only discounts I've seen available are at DTD during PHM weekend.
I got in a run today after all. I'm learning stuff about myself during all of this. A) I prefer to run alone! B) I prefer an out and back type trail. C) I don't like running a loop because I feel like I'm on a hamster wheel and the scenery never changes. D) I prefer a trail with fewer people but more runners/serious walkers. Today I was at the park and kept getting stuck behind the ladies chatting and taking up the whole sidewalk or the moms with their double wide strollers taking up the whole sidewalk, or the little dogs that the owner didn't control and nearly tripped me! But at least there was a working bathroom and it looked like only one person had been murdered in there.

No, I haven't, but I want to. I know lots of people that have, and they love it. I've heard it's very well run. I may do it next year. But I'm also considering the NH Marathon, which is often the same weekend before Columbus Day, like Smuttynose.
How is everyone's training going? Beautiful weather here in New England right now. I did a 12 mile training run this morning. It was my last long run before my first half in two weeks.
Yes, Smuttynose. Have you run it before? I've heard it's a nice flat course so good for a first timer. All my routes here are pretty hilly so I'm looking forward to a nice flat run.![]()
Seeing other NH runners has dragged me out of lurkdom! Smuttynose Rockfest is such a fun race! I've done it for the last three years, but this year I'm running the New England Half instead. One thing I love about the Smuttynose course is that the last 5k is back along the ocean. It pumps me up for that last stretch! I hope you have a great race!
The beer is good, but I am all about the lobster roll at the finish!Best thing about Smuttynose is the free good beer when you're done![]()
You are hilarious.
If you haven't done a rundisney event yet, pack your patient pants. There will be ladies chatting and taking up the bulk of the pavement (even if they aren't all together...pack of 2, pack of 3, another pack of 2, you've got gridlock and none of them know what they are a part of), there will be wide, scratchy tutus, there will be people with far-too-wide wings that hit you in the face... (and I wonder why I hacen't yet had a GOOD run with rundisney...why do I keep trying?)
Just be aware of it and try to be OK with it. Try to be more OK with it than I tend to be. (most people are more OK with it than I am...I am a highly irritable runner!)
But at least there are no strollers allowed, and no dogs with rundisney. I did a 10K the other weekend where despite those rules there were both! Why do people bring the most unruly, crowd-afraid, dogs, with them to run at events? Why?

Ack! But I would think by the 10k they are at least moving at a good clip and not just strolling and talking on their phones... right? I could see the 5k being a total disaster.
Beer and lobster rolls? Now I'm trying to figure out how to get up to NH. Thanks guys. The beer is good, but I am all about the lobster roll at the finish!![]()

Stop giving me ideas. It's dangerous.Go solo or find some people to join you in a triathlon relay and head up to Maine for the Lobsterman tri. They have free beer and a full lobster dinner after the race. Great goodies too.
I won't argue with that! I don't have an issue with anyone who is slow because I'm slow. I would rather see someone who is slow and working hard than see someone not working at all.I wouldn't count on it. Unless you're in one of the first two corrals, you're more than likely going to be not moving at a good clip for some parts of the race. One of the great things about Disney races, and the Princess ones in particular, is they attract a lot of people who are new runners, fun runners, and runners who are not as fast as those you might see at some other events. It's a far more inclusive atmosphere than other major races have, which is wonderful, but with that comes crowding and the potential for people to not be aware of normal race etiquette. As frustrating as it can be at times, it's a small price to pay for seeing so many people out there who might not have been out there doing the same thing at one of their local races.
