Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Probably biting off more than I can chew, but @Keels can you PM me the TA info so I can inquire about a GSC bib? How does it work if you already had a half bib? Anyone know?

Basically, you buy the new bib from a TA and they will send you a form to fill out to get a refund on your original race purchase, as long as it came from RunDisney.

I don't understand why they can't give the rest of us waivers anyway? It's not like new additions will be put anywhere but the last corral since POT closed so long ago. :(

If you buy via a TA, regardless of when you buy, you still get the opportunity to enter in a PoT. But it's just a one-shot thing - if you don't give them a PoT when you purchase, after PoT submission closes, then you can't submit a time.

Good choices. I only went to Il Mulino the first time last year, but loved it. It's on our must do list now. I have Il Mulino pre 5k and the Wave pre half. Citricos is pre 10k, that's Dd7's pick. She's doing the 5k with me and said to celebrate she wants Citricos chocolate crown dessert. Clearly I'm creating a monster;)

Love it! I've created a similar monster in our oldest son. :)

I have the RoadID fabric sports band. I have 6 lines of info on my tag. Name, city, 3 lines of I C E names and numbers and 1 line of med info.

I have one from Pro Compression and I LOVE THEM!!

I wore them for all four races during Dopey and they really made a difference.

Quick question for those of you who use the compression sleeves....do you find that they cut into your ankles and legs just below the knees? I have tried to wear them b/c so many runners rave about them but they are just so blasted uncomfortable-I even got a different size thinking I had gotten them too small; but still hurt.

Boo on no bibs. But yay my shoes arrived! Same kind as my current shoes but different color- and less about 500 miles! Gives me plenty of time to gradually put miles on them before the race.
And FWIW- if anyone needs a distraction, the menfolk are having a really amusing conversation about chafing over on the Running Thread.

Oh, please tell me the name of that thread! I need some distraction and laughs!

I only have Pro Compression sleeves/socks, but even within the same size, some of mine are tighter around the knee area than others. Some I can comfortably wear to bed all night and some I can only wear for a couple of hours before they start bugging me.

I have 4 different brands... The 180's are ok for not digging in but don't help with my shin splints. I wear these to sleep in after long runs. The Skins are tight. Don't care for them. The Injinji are good for running as long as I'm not on lots of concrete because they don't do well for shin splints, but I like to run in toe socks and these are my only pink or girly color ones I have. They are a little tight around the knee.
And finally I have 2 pairs of zensah which are my favorite and the only brand I will buy from now on. I love them for running and recovery alike although they sometimes get itchy when I sleep in them overnight after a long run. They do not bother me during runs.

Phew!
Okay running skirt ordered from Rock City Skirts (Cinderella) and the fabric for the rest from Fabric.com!
I'm running as Ariel for the 5K, Rapunzel for the 10K, and Cinderella for the 1/2.
For the 5K my mom and sister will be joining me. Mom is running as Flounder and my sister as Ursula :)
They should all get here in time to make the 4 skirts and do a practice run in.

Our Magic Bands arrived earlier this week so I'm good there! Just need to finalize my packing list and start doing laundry/packing :) I'm going to be super busy between now and when we leave for WDW so I need to get started.

I asked this earlier but it got lost in the bib # talk. I really want the Flounder things for the running shoes from New Balance but none of their shoes work for me. Can I buy them seperately? If I can, do I need to sign up for time like with the shoes or can I just walk up to the booth?

Thanks for this recommendation! I have been wanting to check these out and see if they improve my running and recovery.

I can finally cross "buy road ID" off my mental to do list! I decided against the fitbit one, so I will have my magic band, road id, and fitbit on during this trip! All are needed though, so it's all good! :)

I am planning on the exact same costumes for the exact same races! And you can just walk up to the register and buy the flounder clip ons. No signing up necessary!

Lol great minds think alike!
Yay! I love the flounder clips and had already plotted whether a friend with an embroidery machine could make me some but buying them would be easier! Thank you!

As long as you can get in the food court tea is super easy since they have the tea bags out and you just need hot water. I'm a tea drinker too, but have taken to caffeinated Nuun when I run. A short run I can wait for the caffein till I'm home, but my long runs I have found it helps prevent post run headaches for me.

Thanks for all the input about hot water/tea before the race.
I use the caffeinated Nuun too- but I need tea to start. Esp since I am coming from the Mountain Time Zone- that 1:00AM wake call is going to hurt!

It's probably just me but I can't stand hot tea made in a coffee maker. I hate coffee and it just tastes like coffee to me. There is no way to get those hotel coffee makers clean enough so the water doesn't make my tea taste like coffee. But I'm weird lol. I won't even use a commuter cup for hot tea if my DH has used it for coffee. I can always taste it. Unfortunately he has figured this out and has "accidentally" used my super cool commuter cups. So now I only buy them in pink, lol! I am very happy to hear that the food courts will be open! I eat toast w/peanut butter before every race and was trying to figure out how I was going to manage it this time. :)

I am the SAME WAY! LOL- I can taste it too. We have separate cups for tea and coffee in my house and I can always tell if there was a mix up! I have broght small travel hot pots with me for tea when I travel, but am trying to go carry on only for this trip.

I completely understand. And I would never drink tea made with water from the coffee pot. Otherwise I might as well just have coffee! I made the mistake once if grabbing a Disney one to make tea to go for school drop off and couldn't drink it because the mug was contaminated with coffee!

Does anyone know if the food court at AoA will be open or should I plan on bring a toaster? I love having peanut butter toast!

I just checked out Road ID (I've been meaning to get one, but my absent mindedness makes me forget all the time!) and was wondering if anyone knows if they fit on Garmin watches? It would be soon much easier to do that than wear another band on my wrist!
