Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Also, I have a RoadID that I wear that has pertinent info and two emergency contact numbers, between that and my insurance card, I'm pretty set if something were to happen to me at Disney.

I also wear a RoadID. Been wearing it for 3 years now all the time. It is the best 20 bucks spent. I think everyone should have some type of an ID bracelet.

I totally just booked brunch at Cali Grill after all the talk about it! I was thinking of California Grill for our anniversary dinner that night (or just drinks if we can't get a reservation). But maybe we should try brunch and then head to Disney Springs for drinks that evening?

Ooooooh ... I'm liking your thinking! At Disney Springs, I LOVE Hangar Bar and the bar upstairs at Morimoto. That's what we usually do on casual nights - start at Hangar, then head to Morimoto and have a couple drinks and split some dim sum if we get hungry.

Thanks, guys! I'm going to bring the headphones and be prepared just in case. I usually run with one in/one out for safety reasons, regardless.

Since we are all waiting for corrals -- what are your favorite Disney songs for your running play list? I have some Disney dance/house mix CDs that I haven't listened to in years. I might need to review those for inspiration!

I always run with headphones at home, and I always run with them at races. (Disney and non-Disney races.) I don't listen to my music super loud so, knock on wood, I've always been able to hear any announcements.

I have Under the Sea, I Just Can't Wait to Be King, Step in Time, Let It Go (at the end of my playlist), I've Got a Dream, Almost There and Dig a Little Deeper on my playlist. I'm thinking I might need to add a few more because my playlist is a little short for a half and I always have to repeat the later quarter of it.

Where the heck are the waivers/bib numbers and corrals?!?!?

For serious! That email someone posted said it would be this week...they're really cutting it close.

Ugh ... such a #FirstWorldDisneyProblem, y'all. I have two brunch reservations for after the Half and I can't decide which one to keep! Narcoossee's or Cali Grill?!?! It's like the Sophie's Choice of brunch.

Hmmmm...I LOVE Cali Grill. It is my favorite restaurant on property. I was unsure on the brunch menu though. I would definitely wait for reviews and then decide which one to keep since Narcoossee's is a tried and true choice and Cali Grill is a wing and a prayer at this point. But seriously, Chef Brian doesn't seem to steer us wrong. I was nervous about the menu changes at Cali Grill, and everything new I tried was fabulous so I do trust him!

I have been trying to decide what I want to carry on the course with me, and I was wondering, is there any reason I will need to have my id with me? Do you need it to check in to get the GS medal?

I don't often carry ID with me unless I know I'll need it for post race adult beverages. I'll have mine with me so I can get a glass of champagne to celebrate after the race! (Also, I thank every person who cards me. Being one year away from 40 I am so grateful they want to keep asking me!)

I am sorry if this has already been asked - I have tried to search, and look at posts but to no avail yet. I am staying at the Buena Vista Suites (~6 miles from Epcot) - how bad is the traffic trying to get in? I tend to worry about things like this, so wondering how much time should I budget.

If you're driving, follow the directions listed in the Event Guide - especially for the Half Marathon. You will most definitely want to take I-4 and then exit off I-4 to get to EPCOT. We did this and left my house at about 4:50 and were in the parking lot at roughly 5:05.

Thank you for the ideas! You might just see us there! ;)

Does anyone know if they take the dining plan at Hangar Bar or Morimoto in the bar? My friend and I are staying at POR and I would love to try something new at DTD. Otherwise we'll probably due Wolfgang Express on our arrival night, but I love trying new places so if I could use credits there I would consider it!

Thank you for your reply! We normally take the 536 into Disney from Buena Vista (Epcot Centre Drive) does anyone know if that will be closed?

Your only way in to the parking lot at EPCOT will be if you take I-4 and take Exit 64 (that's for 192) and then follow the signs for EPCOT. That's pretty much the only way. The corrals are out on Epcot Center Drive, as that is the way you go from the start line to Magic Kingdom for the Half Marathon.

We have reservations at Portabello on Friday night but I've read some reviews that were less than stellar. I'm wondering if I should cancel and just eat at our hotel or somewhere else in Downtown Disney (I just can't call it Disney Springs!)

@Keels Stop! You're making me hungry. Drinks. Brunch. Dim Sum. Dude. Tonight is NOT a training night. I can't afford to be this hungry. LOL

Thank you! Are spectators allowed to park in the remainder of the Epcot parking lot while waiting, or is it only drop off and they'll have to park elsewhere?

I'm going to have a rental that weekend. Can I totally drive and park at EPCOT before the race? My only experience is W&D where you had to drive to EPCOT but then jump on a bus over to WwoS....

Road ID....how quick did they ship? Do I still have time before Princess? It would have to be in hand by like the 16th....

They can park in Epcot's parking lot to watch the run. They will not have to pay to park as long as they get in there before the stated time

I keep thinking I need to get one. More so for training runs than anything.

That was the main reason that I got the road ID bracelet. When I go out and run I go by myself. So in the event of something happening they know who to contact and on the bottom line I have some medical info

Sure can!

On long runs here at home, I will carry cash or a credit card with me occasionally if I plan on grabbing a post-run beer at one of the food trucks along the river or if I'm meeting people after I run. But that's really it.

That's a good point. I wear mine all the time, so I forget I have that extra layer of security. I run with my phone too, which has the emergency info complete, so it can be accessed from the lock screen. If one has no emergency contact info (you are supposed to fill out the back of the bib) then I'd probably suggest an ID.
