Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I am from what I loving call the arm pit of South Texas. I am from Corpus Christi, along the coast. When I have traveled out of state, you would not believe how many times I had been asked that.

The Sparkling City by the Sea on the Texas Riviera! My husband is from Corpus!! We like to vacation down in Rockport and Port A with friends quite often during the summer!

Ok guys. I trust y'all's opinions. (yes, Texas girl here, and no I don't ride horses to work. You wouldn't believe the questions I have been asked!) I am considering wearing my husband's faux pro (our knock offs gopro) for one or both of the runs. Realistically, other than YouTube or a blog, neither of which I do, should I chance discomfort to catch it on tape? I am running by myself and desperately wish my husband would be with me but dang, he likes food and booze too much, let's just be honest. Honest opinions please!!!

Wow!! That's amazing! Its a small world!! (Sorry for th goofy humor, just so excited!!). I live in a suburb called Calallen. In city limits but still a ways from the beach. Where do y'all live now?

I probably wouldn't do it, but you can give it a shot on a training run! I just took my regular camera and got little snippets of video at certain points.

The only worry I have about that is that I have one of the iPhone's with the least amount of storage. Even when I wipe it clean it seems to tell me no more pictures.

I know exactly where that's at! My husband grew up in Corpus (he went to Carroll), and almost all of his family still lives in Corpus proper.

I was born out in West Texas (Lubbock), but now we live in Fort Worth!

I only use my phone for selfies. I use my regular camera for everything else. I'm with you! My phone is VERY tiny, storage-wise!

I even half contemplated bringing the iPad mini along. Heck, I have a iPhone 6+. It's not much smaller! Lol!

They wiped the results from last year a couple of hours ago - so hopefully we may see something tomorrow! For the past four or so race weekends (Disneyland, W&D, Avengers, Marathon, and maybe Star Wars?), it has worked for those on mobile before those on the website. It links with Runner Tracking, so once they link up this year's registration database, it should be populated with bib numbers for the 10K, Half and Challenge - if all things stay the same from the past race weekends!

Yea something is up with the site. I was on early today around lunch and it had all the results. I see movement!!!

I checked earlier today and was able to pull up my results from last year. Just now I got a blank white box on the screen where presumably the info/form would go. Eeek!!!!

There's so much more room on it than a phone (unless you have one with a huge memory), and it doesn't drain your battery!

I've run eight rD races - and, honestly, I've never taken more than four pictures or so during a race. I usually just grab a selfie or snap a quick picture on my phone and then keep moving on. I'd save my picture taking for the parks when I don't have total struggle face, look like a normal human being and don't have people jumping in and out of my pictures!

People are idiots! I would happily move back to Texas any day of the week... where people drove giant trucks instead of horses! Although it was the only place I have lived where I had wild boar running down my road.

With all of those electrolyte things you need to take them with water!

My water was several miles back. It just sort of dawned on me that I wanted some jelly beans and I shoved three in there. Probably one at a time would have been more tolerable. These are more for energy than anything else. I save the Honey Stinger Waffles for after a run because they are so yummy and it is my treat! I keep them in my car and no one in my family knows they are there ;-)

PEAR IS MY FAVORITE FLAVOR, TOO! (Yes, shouting was necessary, lol). I just wish the pear flavor was caffeinated, too, otherwise I'd only buy those. Green apple is good, as well. But, I need my caffeine. Candy with oomph.

Ohhh the caffeine messes me up. I stick to the ones without it. I love green apple too.

This is me, too. I don't know if it's because I'm so fixated on truckin' along or looking at all the magical Disney stuff, but I'm not big on taking pictures along the race course. I ran with my friend and her husband in 2013, and that was the most I stopped for pics, and it was only because they brought along their digicam and there were no lines where we were. And even then, we only took a handful of on-course photos (at the start, in front of the castle, with Mrs. Incredible, and after the finish). I'm more of a ham for the MarathonFoto guys. My friend taught me to spot them well ahead of time so I could prepare my smile.

I have discovered Gu Salted Caramel gel. It tastes like caramel frosting!

Those are my absolute favorite! I look forward to my long runs so I can eat them!
