Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Also, and sorry for the newbie questions, if we manage rooms at Boardwalk or Beach Club, we could walk to the starting line, correct?

Epcot won't be open that early so no, you can't walk through in the morning.

If you have a ticket you can walk *back* through Epcot after the race.

So glad I found this thread! :D

My mom and I are doing the PH- first race for us!!! :yay: I am a little nervous about registering, as I'm an AP, but mom is not. I hope it all works out and I'll be joining in here for all the wonderful tips you all have :)

Welcome!! I think EVERYONE is nervous about registering! :faint:

I am very happy to have found this thread. I just finished the EEC (the last of its kind) in May, and got hooked!:eeyore: Significant other :stitch2: now wants to do a 5k and has a long way to keep up to me, but I am supporting him every step of the way. Even challenged him to say...if he does a 5k - I'll do a ten. Needless to say the PHM weekend is our next trip! One day I hope to be as good as some of you guys and do the half, but for now I'll settle for rooting him on, and slightly upping the bar for myself. A little nervous thought about space filling up on registration day. I have to do three- his 5k, my 10k, and then double back and hope I can get in the 5k with him. Cross your fingers for me! :guilty:

Welcome and good luck! Here is some pixie dust for you pixiedust:

I know I'm joining the party late, so forgive me if this question has been asked and answered, but here goes...Does anyone know if Disney offers discounts on registrations for Disney races? Being as I need to pay for three races I just thought I'd ask.

While I'm not as brave as those doing a half marathon or the GSC, I am worried about registering my significant other for his first 5k, myself for the 5k as I'm going along for support, and a 10k for me as well. I'm hoping most others are going after the half and I will have time to double back and register for the 5k. Does this sound doable?

No discounts for races.

If I were you, I'd register in this order:

10K - you
5K - significant other
5K - you

The 10K will easily be the first race that sells out, along with the Challenge.

Create an Active account that has all of your information saved in advance (for both of you!). Be ready to register 15 minutes before it opens.

Have your CC information in a Word/Notepad document or email draft so you just have to copy and paste when registration opens.

If you're online at the time registration opens, you should have NO problem getting in to all three races.

I'll provide a backdoor link as soon as I can find one - that way you can bypass the "queue" that comes from clicking the Register link on the RD site.

What are the best resorts for PHM, I plan on doing GSC. This my first Disney Run

All of the resort hotels at WDW are considered host resorts, so they'll all have transportation to/from the Expo and races. It's pretty much whichever resort is your favorite. That being said, I've stayed at the All Stars as well as POR, and found that transportation to the start line was faster when we stayed at POR. We'll be staying at AKL for next year's race, because we have always wanted to stay there, so that was our deciding factor (not transportation time).

Ok, I have an active account and will set one up for sig other, but how does this help with registration? So sorry for being so new and so dumb.

As far as all the resorts being a "host resort" for PHM weekend, do you still call the rundisney number for special room rates like we enjoyed when staying there for the EEC '15?

Hmmm, not sure I can answer that since I always have utilized the Armed Forces Salute room discount since I save more doing that than using the runDisney room rates. I'm not even sure they offer that during PHM weekend, but maybe someone else who has used it can verify?

Not dumb! You type your info out ahead of time (address, etc.) so you don't have to type it on registration day. :)

Yes, there will be a runDisney package available. But check the general discounts too, sometimes they are better!

For race weekends I've stayed at the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Grabd Floridian, Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter. I'd stay at any of them again.

Ok, so when registration day comes up, and I click into do the actual registration(s) there will be an tab or button that asks me if I want to use my active account info. and short cut all the typing? Sorry, neglected to say I was tech inept too. My kids fear I'm hopeless, and I just don't remember using it to sign up for EEC in December.

If I remember correctly your stuff should just pop up since you'll be signed into your account...or you may need to select it by clicking. Something like that!

Significant Other's sister-in-law works as a Disney travel agent or something...when I signed up for EEC and went to book room the quote rundisney gave me couldn't even be touched by her so called "wonderful" discounts.

Significant Other's sister-in-law (otherwise know to the family as Mrs. Disney) works as a Disney travel expert agent or something...I know when I signed up for EEC and went to book room through rundisney the quote the gave me couldn't even be touched by her so called "wonderful" discounts. :P
