Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Things have become very real now! Got the our hotel rate for Beach Club that's booked and done. Just booked our flight ! A lot shorter trip than I wanted but at least I'm going. Arriving Wednesday evening leaving Sunday afternoon after the half. So yippee! Can hardly wait!
Taking this week off from training resting from our wonderful time at dumbo double dare. Back in the saddle next week!

I have a question for those Resort (Grand Floridian & Boardwalk) pros!
We are staying at CBR for PHM Weekend and want to make sure we get different things in this trip. We still plan on doing 2 days at Parks, but also want to spend an afternoon at the Boardwalk and then dinner reservation at 1900 Park Fare.

My thought for Grand Floridian is from CBR is to take a shuttle to Epcot and then hop on the monorail for Grand Floridian (reverse to get back to CBR). My thought for Boardwalk is to take a shuttle from CBR to Epcot. However, what do I do from there? Can I walk over even though I'm not planning on going into Epcot, is there a walkway? Or do I have to take a shuttle from Epcot to Boardwalk Beach Club or Yacht Club resorts?

And another potential option is to walk around the Boardwalk for early afternoon and then head to Grand Floridian for our reservation. What's the easiest way to get from Boardwalk to Grand Floridian?

Am I understanding that right, or are there better ways to get there? TIA!

Honestly, if I didn't have a car, I'd just budget for taxis for those. Taking transportation isn't all that fun for me, and I'd rather be there earlier.

FYI the Transportation forum people tend to question many of the results that site gives. There is a big long "how do I get there?" thread there, and at least with that if someone gives you a bad idea, others will be there to correct it.

Being diabetic, I know I absolutely need to have a hydration and nutrition plan.

Oh absolutely.

(am I the only one jealous of the bathroom-needers needing said bathroom just for #1?)
(would say "TMI" but there's nothing TMI with runners, I've found)

You're a long way away then. I was going to say those trails in Fayetteville are awesome! Good luck to you!

I know your comment wasn't addressed to me, but when I see a fellow Arkansan I just have to say "Hi!"I grew up in NWA. Prairie Grove to be exact. I have lived in the Dallas area now, but my whole family is Razorback fans! WPS!

Nope. I just didn't want to be the first one to say anything, lol. Thanks @bumbershoot !
My race that will hopefully be my PoT submission is this weekend. Wish me luck!

Also, while this run won't end at a bakery it will end at a winery so I get a good reward.

That sounds awesome! Good luck!

Another Arkansan here. I was born in Malvern, but we moved around a lot while I was growing up. I went to UofA and my DD28 went to grad school there. I'm also in the Dallas area. WPS indeed!

No, you are not. All that bouncing around does a lot to a 46 year old body! Of course I'm also jealous of people who can run in jeans, buy any shoe at Walmart and not suffer, run without an expensive sports bra or run a mile without feeling the need to throw up.

As annoying as the super early starts at WDW are (and having to get to the corrals an hour ahead of time), I do find that it helps my body realize that certain things need to happen before the running starts...if you catch my drift. Coffee helps me with this, too.

LOL! Notice how I didn't specify why I was concerned about bathrooms on the race route! You are not alone my friend!

I just got an email that Southwest is having a sale. My return flight had dropped in price by about $60! I had booked it on points so I re-booked and got about 4,000 points back. :)
Awesome! Ours dropped a couple days ago, $56 both ways. $112 more to spend at the expo. Lol!

I'm so jealous of everyone that has an international airport. I have to fly out of Little Rock and it's just a national airport. Thus, none of the cheap flights for me. I paid almost $400 per ticket for our trip next week on Southwest. My DD25, coming from Denver International, 1000 miles further from MCO than me paid under $200. And she got direct flights. I have a layover in Chicago. Chicago! From Little Rock, to Chicago, to Orlando. Who plans these flights?

But very happy for you, lol! :)

Agree who plans these flights! We live in Vancouver BC . The only direct flight they say will start in January and it's on Friday but the price it huge plus it will not work for running the 10k on Saturday ! We are going on the milk wagon through the states. Best route I found on points was flying to San Francisco then to Orlando all day travel. Coming home I will not be a happy camper leaving on Sunday, around 5:30pm hopping over to Phoenix and home from there arriving home just before midnight. It will be almost 24 hour day seeing I will be up at 3 am Sunday morning before the half my darn nervous stomach. The worry warting about the transportation to the race. Hope I can sleep on the plane on the way home , so I'm not so grumpy or maybe those medals will put a high on me and I will smile the whole way home. Hope I can get late check out at the hotel. I will be really mixed up on the time changes! Well at least I'm going and that's what matters! Seems crazy, that long travel for 4 nights, but the Silver lining is this is the first leg of my C2C medal then Tinkerbell PDC to finish it off! YIPPEE!!

WPS! We are Arkansans by default, actually I'm an Okie. My daughter graduated from UofA and is an academic advisor there. She has lived in Fayetteville since 2006 and we have come to love it very much. It's a treat to go visit. She will be running the Princess Half with me.

My DD is 28 too, graduated from UofA and is now an academic advisor. She's running with me. I'm an Okie, but love love love NWA.
