Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Cover pages for the training plans...in the past these have given an idea of what the medals/shirts would look like.

Looks promising! I hope we get a medal preview from Tink this weekend...

omg, I love those logos for the training plans! If the 10K medal looks like that, then I'm extremely jealous of any of you running it!

Words cannot express how much I wish I could register for Dumbo. But between work, hotel availability and flight prices, it's just a dream.

I will scream with happiness if the 10K medal is Genie's Lamp

That was sort of the vision I had for the medal. Like Genie and Aladdin sitting on the lamp or something. I'd love a side of Iago thrown in for good measure, but he's more on the villains side. (I'm still waiting for Gilbert Gottfried to narrate the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT one of these years!)

I will scream with happiness if the 10K medal is Genie's Lamp. Like ... YES. It will make up for me not getting that amazeballs Mirror Medal last year.

I would too and suddenly I'm very sad I'm not doing Dumbo!!

They came out pretty late last year - I think less than a month before the races. They may release them earlier this year to try to stir up sales for the half/Dumbo though.

Hi guys! I'm looking at booking a hotel the night before the race (I'll be staying with my sister in LA the rest of my trip), and I'm hoping someone can help me out with a question:

I found a pretty good hotel deal at a Best Western that should only be about a 15 minute walk from the start of the race. Does anyone know how feasible that walk actually is? I'm assuming Disneyland Dr will be closed off for corrals, but is it possible to enter the pre-race area via walking down S Walnut St and turning onto Magic Way? Or am I better off splurging and booking through Disney so I have access to their shuttles?

Thanks so much! This will be my first trip to Disneyland, so figuring out the logistics is new to me.

And side note, I did the Princess Half this February (my first runDisney race & first half!) so I'll be earning my Coast to Coast! Anyone else doing the same?

We usually stay near the convention center and walk down Katella to Disneyland Drive. It's a pretty easy walk to the corrals from there.

Which Best Western are you looking at? We stay at Stovalls almost exclusively when we're not staying on-site. It's a quick walk down Disneyland Drive and then people will direct you which way to go. Lots of people will be walking from area hotels, so it will be easy to know where to go. :)

If anyone is on the fence about registering for the still-available DDD - Acclaim Travel sent out an email tonight that they're offering DDD bibs for a flat $299 ... no fees, no ticket, no hotel room. $299 gets you in to the race! That's over $60 cheaper than general registration right now!

If you're interested, let me know and I can forward you the email.

Hey guys! It's been a while since my last appearance in this thread...and I just wanted to say "hi y'all"!
Can't wait to actually complete my first rD challenge with my friend @pamster ! Looking forward to meet you too, @Keels , and all of you Disers! :)

That's an awesome deal, @Keels -- I'll ask a few friends who may have been interested in running with us but weren't thrilled due to cost.

THis is so, so tempting...if only my bank account would agree :(

Great deal! I keep thinking I should just switch to the challenge and then I have to remind myself I already have a non refundable flight that doesn't get in until Saturday at 11 ha
