Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

It looks like we're near the 60-day mark to make dining reservations! Tomorrow marks August 29th - so it's time to get planning on your pre-race and post-race meals in the next few days.

Where are you all thinking of eating? :)

For Packet Pickup (Thursday night), we are eating inside the park at quick service (not sure how long the expo will take, so ADR is not happening) so we can get a picture with the Dumbo Bib and the Photo-op Dumbo station.

The post-10K (Saturday) breakfast will be at Steakhouse 55. I am going to order the "two times four" breakfast with the french toast and fruit - it's the best!

For Sunday's half marathon, I think we're just going to scramble out of there as soon as possible and pick up In-n-Out Burger on the way home before we shower.

I fly in Friday morning and have to pick up my packet at the Expo. I think I'm going to do the Aladdin's Oasis Paint the Night package for dinner, and will probably do French Market for lunch. Saturday, I'm doing DCA after the 10k and probably won't make ADRs. I'm debating the $49 Frozen pre-show, but I may just go with Fastpass. Not sure I want to commit to spending 90 minutes plus the show since I only have the one day. Depending on friends meeting me who have cars, we might go to Mrs. Knott's for dinner.

Right now, I'm debating what to do after the Half. Normally, it's a no-brainer to go to the park, but holidays are always packed. I think if my family meets me that day after the race, and I can convince them to drive me around all day, we'll probably hit the beach somewhere instead. If they can't, then I guess I'll have to settle for another day of Disneyland (such a tough situation!). At some point, I have to get my Tommy's fix too.

So far, I have booked:

Wednesday: 2:30 p.m. Frozen Pre-Show Package
Thursday: Dinner at Wine County Trattoria
Monday: Dinner at Napa Rose Chef's Counter

All that's left is a couple of breakfasts and dinner at Carthay Circle on Sunday night!

I literally just had this discussion yesterday.

I think I'm going to do Carthay WOC lunch some day Monday to Wednesday. And then, WOC dessert party on the Sunday after the half. Im wondering if I should book Naples or something on Friday or Saturday "night" (late afternoon ;))? ...hmmmm.

Everyone has selected some awesome choices for food! I'm still waiting for my post-10k breakfast day to open up. Which is this Tuesday for the Saturday of race weekend. It also happens to be passholder reg day for princess glass slipper... So a busy morning for sure!!!

Got Plaza Inn for breakfast post-5K! Trying to decide if we want to make a dinner ressie or will just wing it and have grab-and-go dinner before World of Color.

Also, debating booking Ariel's Grotto for lunch on Saturday as a surprise ... I think it's the only TS at Disneyland that I haven't been to and that lobster tail salad sounds delicious! Or, I could cave and go to Carnation for the love of my life - FRIED PICKLES. Decisions, decisions!!

Just an FYI. For the first few hours after opening on that Sunday, Disneyland is the emptiest I have ever seen it. The runners usually don't head into the parks till after noon so early morning right when it opens after the run is the best time to be in the park. That being said, the afternoon is crazy packed.

@camaker, @MommaoffherRocker and other singles - message me if you want to join up for meals! We're a fun group, and we'd love to have other people join us!

Also, my friends and their daughter tend to split off quite a bit, so if anyone wants to do a group dinner on Friday or Saturday night, I'm happy to organize!

Hey Keels, I'm going to be solo on this trip - I'll shoot you a DM. :)

Which Best Western are you looking at? We stay at Stovalls almost exclusively when we're not staying on-site. It's a quick walk down Disneyland Drive and then people will direct you which way to go. Lots of people will be walking from area hotels, so it will be easy to know where to go. :)

I somehow just saw this -- thanks for the response! I booked the Best Western on Ball and Disneyland Dr, which looks like it would be an easy walk to the start on a normal day.

I just didn't know if they block off certain areas to foot traffic before the race. Seems like I should be fine, though!

Got the Steakhouse 55 breakfast reservation at 8am, post 10K! :cool1:

I can't believe we're 60 days out. We're heading out for a great training run this evening to really get our butts in gear.

Thanks for that info. American changed my flight home that night from 5:30 PM to 4 PM, so I'd probably have to leave at 2, so if the morning crowds aren't too bad, I might have to do that. I got the Frozen pre-show booked for Saturday. I am leaning against the Aladdin's Paint the Night package now. Does anyone know how soon I'd have to be at the reserved area? If it's an hour, I can usually find a decent place to see the parade and the fireworks. Now I'm debating between a third day in the parks or having a post-marathon meal at Goofy's Kitchen or someplace like that and maybe a farewell Kungaloosh at Trader Sam's.

I booked my Storytellers breakfast for after the 10k. We do a little later, just before 10. Plenty of time for my slow pace (lol), showers, and maybe even a quick nap. lol. One of our friends will have a less than 2-month old baby for his first character breakfast. LOL. She's due any minute! :)

Don't know if anybody was on the fence, but if you're thinking about possibly doing the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose on Monday (Labor Day) Night, there are only two spots left for the second seating! Maybe you could be sitting next to meeeeeee!!

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely give it some thought. This is my first trip to DL and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the options at this point. Normally I just play it by ear and grab counter service when I'm solo at WDW.

Personally, I think the CS options at DL are SO much better than at WDW! I love that so many places offer healthy-eating options - great salads, tapas options, charcuterie. The lobster nachos at Cove Bar are seriously a top food of all time.

Was anyone able to book WOC dessert party for Sunday? Today is the 60 day mark for it and it's not available, in fact Saturday and Sunday are "grayed" out in the calendar.

No, I it's greyed out here too. :( maybe it's the universe telling me I need to watch Disneyland Forever on my last night before it closes. ;)
