Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

It looks like we're near the 60-day mark to make dining reservations! Tomorrow marks August 29th - so it's time to get planning on your pre-race and post-race meals in the next few days.

Where are you all thinking of eating? :)

For Packet Pickup (Thursday night), we are eating inside the park at quick service (not sure how long the expo will take, so ADR is not happening) so we can get a picture with the Dumbo Bib and the Photo-op Dumbo station.

The post-10K (Saturday) breakfast will be at Steakhouse 55. I am going to order the "two times four" breakfast with the french toast and fruit - it's the best!

For Sunday's half marathon, I think we're just going to scramble out of there as soon as possible and pick up In-n-Out Burger on the way home before we shower.

I think we'll do a lot of the same as we did before ...

Wine County Trattoria lunch on Saturday
Steakhouse 55 brunch on Sunday
Carthay Circle dinner on Sunday
Napa Rose Chef's Table on Monday

Maybe we'll add in a character breakfast on Friday after we all finish the 5K - B is running her first rD event, so that might be nice for her to get bling photos.

Hi everyone! DH and I are getting excited for our September trip and race weekend! This may be too early to ask, but from your past experiences, have any of you gone straight into the parks after the 1/2 marathon? We are only going to have Sunday and Monday in the parks, so wanted to make the most of it (we live on the east coast, and this is only our 2nd time to DL!), knowing that it will be crowded with fellow runners and Labor Day weekend guests, and that getting there first thing in the AM is probably a good idea. BUT, perhaps going right in smelly and sweaty post race is not so nice for the general public, and I know we will be tired. Maybe a better plan might be clean ourselves up, eat a lovely and large breakfast, rest/nap by the pool, go to the parks later in the day, and then make the most of Monday? Thank you in advance for your advice and ideas!! :)

After Tink this year, my friend went straight to the parks to ride Space Mountain (and ended up riding a couple other rides), then went back to her room to change. When we met up later she said it worked out really well. I would have gone, but I forgot to bring my ticket to the race.

I've been in the parks as soon as they open on Tink half before (back when it was in January though) and it was the emptiest we had ever experienced! So it's not a bad idea.

Storytellers has been consistently GOOD for character breakfast. It's been empty every time we go and the food is fantastic and fresh.

Now you're making me want to make a reservation there... hmm. Maybe I can convince the husband to do it after the half! :P

Storytellers is our go-to after races. We will be trying to get it for after the 10k this year.

I have! It's so much fun because you never know who may show up. I was there with Minnie, Fairy Godmother, Captain Hook, Chip (but no Dale!), Tigger, and Pooh. :D

I think that may be why she's interested! I really wish park hours would come out before I have to make ADRs. Grrrrrrrr.

Oooh fantastic! Thank you! All of this talk about dining is making me hungry too!

hey guys! popping in this thread real quick for a question. anyone know about deferrals for this race?

Boyfriend wants to defer his registration for next year a. so we can do it together and b. so he can save some more money after a student loan got unexpectedly refinanced.

He's getting kind of nervous he won't be able to, or he'll miss it.

Has anyone flown into SNA late? My flight doesn't land until 10pm and I'm trying to figure out the best option to get to the hotel.

Uber. It's VERY easy to use at SNA. You just tell the app what terminal you're at and it assigns you a numbered column to go stand in front of outside of baggage claim. A car can get you in five minutes or so.

I thought about Uber but since I'm solo it made me a little nervous

The SNA late arrival always makes me nervous because if your flight is delayed... they won't let you land. Sending you lots of pixie dust that you have a speedy arrival :)

And echoing the Uber --- us Southern California people are pretty chill. We won't mess with you!

That's not cool, I'm flying southwest so I might have to change my flight to an earlier time. Thanks for the heads up!

I think the cutoff time is 1030pm - it's because of the noise ordinances. You should be okay as long as you leave on time.

Please know I didn't want to scare you - but I never try to land after 8pm if I am flying into SNA because of that. I'd hate to have you delayed due to our airport's dumb rules. o_O ::hugs::

I think this question has been answered before so apologies for asking again- if one is staying at a hotel near the Katella/Disneyland Dr. intersection can you get to the start/from the finish via Disneyland Dr. or is it blocked off? I'm doing the DDD so this pertains to the 10k and 1/2. Minimizing walking after races is a plus! TIA for any wisdom!

No I'm glad you said something I would hate to be blindsided by it and since I'm flying Southwest I can change things without a fee.

I want to thank you both for this topic! My flight from Denver was due at 10PM- a time that has made me nervous since I booked it for several reasons.
Thus I just changed it to an earlier one and got some cash back!
Thank you!!
