Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I'm very excited and my Mom is a tea drinker so it's perfect! Our reservation is at 12:45 so I'm wondering whether to get the Classic Afternoon tea or upgrade to the one with a salad and champagne (because who doesn't want champagne? lol). I'm also wondering whether or not to get lunch before or if the set-up we get will be enough. My Mom isn't a huge eater so I think she might be fine. I'm thinking we'll get breakfast after the 10K and then be fine for tea time.

The upgraded tea comes with salad and champagne... and a pair of farewell truffles. The cost difference I think is only $10 -- so it's worth it.

We had no breakfast before the tea and were stuffed at the conclusion. The entire spread was a huge meal - so don't eat lunch and maybe skip the breakfast. It's a full spread for sure. Here's what we had at Valentine's Day - the salad plates were taken away before we got the picture.

Awesome! That is just what I wanted to know!

In other news, what is everyone doing for costumes for these races? I've decided on Wendy Darling for either the 10k or the Half but can't decide what I want to do for the other one. I have a two toned blue tutu from a Princess last year that I thought about using for the winter fairy along with getting some wings but now I'm not sure... I'm not really into the whole fairy thing but I'm confused about whether or not I should take advantage of the theme!

I'm right there with you, I have 2 in soccer and of course their practices can't be the same day. I tried to get a jogging stroller so I can run with the little ones during the day but that wasn't for me. I see other moms run around the fields while their kids practice I might have to try that.
Thats a great idea!

I'm wearing a black tank top that says "earning my wings one stride at a time" and the back has an imprint of wings and some cute designs. I'm wearing boring running pants to complete the outfit.

No wings or tutus for this race. I'm on the quest for the 1:18-1:20 finish for a great POT for DDD in September.

This is my 5K outfit...not Disney-related but it (the phoenix shirt especially) is meaningful to me since it'll be my first race after a pretty significant injury earlier this year. :)

And this is my 10K outfit (I think...not totally decided on the bottoms yet). Not Disney-related but I think it looks cheerful and colorful and spring-y, and it makes me happy!

(Everything is from INKnBURN - I'm an Ambassador for them. :))
I'm pretty sure I won't need the arm sleeves both days (or maybe at all) but I think they look cool and they'll at least keep me warm in the corrals - easy enough to take them off once I'm warmed up and keep them in pockets. :thumbsup2

Does anyone out there know the size measurements on the Tinkerbell Dooney purse the letter carrier ?

Well spring is here and baseball season is underway so last week and this week its been impossible to get my 2 runs in during the work week. I'm just managing the one during the work week and then the longer run on the weekend. I know I'll be fine as I just did RnR SF a week ago but still, I don't like slacking on my shorter runs this close to the Half! Anyone else? I've already looked into next week and that week looks better and I know I can get my 2 week night runs in then.
I was away for a week and a half without being able to run so I have to get back in race shape the way I was before I left. Luckily I have two local races to encourage me before Tink.

So when do you think the bib numbers will appear, and the igift bag, and the program?
On more question for those of you in the know...From LAX, what's you opinion on super shutter vs greyline "disney" bus?

RE: Dooneys, the Star Wars Dark Side ones are apparently nylon with leather trim (per response on Disney Parks blog), so I'm guessing that the Tink ones are the same. To me, the price tags of the race Dooneys therefore seem a bit...spendy for such materials. Am I wrong? I don't own one, so this may be ignorance on my part.

I'm guessing there is NO WAY we will see any Tink stuff until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest! They posted that they're closing Tink half registration on 4/18, so I bet they'll finalize stuff after that.

The only time I've gone to DL from LAX, I took the SuperShuttle - a shared van. It was cheap ($34 RT or something like that) but there were multiple stops involved. It wasn't bad, though - I was the second stop at Paradise Pier after Grand Californian. I can't remember what it was coming back, but that's what I'm planning on using for Tink.

I'm guessing the same for Tink as far as the bags being nylon.

As far as the price...if it's not nylon, it's coated cotton with leather straps, piping and corners. It's still the same amount of leather, so I'm not surprised about the pricing. It they were 100% leather bags, they would be WAY more expensive.

For what it's worth...I did briefly own a nylon bag and I liked it. It was decently easy to clean and I didn't have to worry about the pattern chipping (which sometimes happens with the coated cotton bags). But I know some people feel the same as you do that they shouldn't cost as much. :confused3

Ah, thanks, that makes sense! I guess I was under the impression that other Dooneys were of better quality material. Probably because I sometimes get handbags at the Coach outlet (I'm not proud) and can get a nice leather bag for $150-200. Of course, it's not Disney, so I guess that's the selling point of the Dooneys. FWIW, I'm not against nylon (I'm happy if things are easily cleaned!), it's just that a $270 pricetag seemed a bit high for that (I'm eyeing the shoppers).

No, I get what you mean! I just know what too much about Dooneys. :teeth:

Here's one that is NOT nylon...I think it's the same size as the crossbody that is available for Tink weekend. If you hover over it with your mouse, it'll magnify and you can see that it's sort of got a pebbly texture - that's coated cotton. The description is sort of misleading because they don't mention that ($198):

Whereas this one (again, similar size to the Tink crossbody) actually IS all leather, and is reflected in the price ($228):

I get excited every time you post because I am anticipating a big announcement about bib numbers or special merch :)

Is that link for the program working for you all?
Not me and I went to rundisney site and tried as well
