Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Any idea on when waivers will update for those that signed up after 4/11? I upgraded at the expo for Star Wars.

10 days out!

DH mentioned to me that for this Cali trip he'd like to do the touristy see-the-sights tour kind of thing (Hollywood landmarks and such). Has anybody done any of the bus tours from Anaheim? I found one that leaves about a block from our hotel and does the main points we want to see. My only concern is that we'd have to do it Friday and the tour is 9 hours, and I'm starting PDC on Satuday. Has anybody done a Hollywood tour and if so, did you like it? Would you recommend? The one I found is Starline bus tours and the reviews on Trip Advisor are all over the place.

If you want to see all the sights in Hollywood I'd def do a bus tour. We drove down Hollywood Blvd and got out to walk up to the Chinese Theater but that was it. Go during the day as as night it's kind of creepy haha. From the mall that houses the Dolby Theatre is a good view of the Hollywood sign. There are some other ways to get up there if you want to drive. Griffith Observatory has great views as well. One of the things we loved was doing the Paramount Studio Tour. We even drove up to Burbank by the Walt Disney Studios! I wish I could go in. If you do a tour it's kind of hit or miss and really just depends on your attitude about it, as is the case with any tour in any city. If you go to the Blvd during the day you can see the Chinese Theatre, El Captain, Hollywood Wax Museum, etc. Be aware of the traffic on both the 101 and the 5. It can get REALLY backed up. Driving from Hollywood to Anaheim at about 5:30/6ish took about two hours! There are lots of things to do around the Anaheim area as well.

Question re: security: Is it near the starting line or the chute(?, where the arrows for runners is pointing) between corrals D and E? I'm staying at the Desert Palms and it is the same distance from the shuttle/chute and hotel/chute. If I have to check in at the starting line, I guess I'll just take the shuttle.

TIA!

It is basically near the finish area/pre race area/bag check area is.

I upgraded to the PDC from the half at the last minute and I realized after I registered that I had a typo in my POT (I put 2:30 instead of 2:40). I was so nervous they were going to put me in the last corral because my times didn't match or because of a last minute registration! But looks like everything is ok!

The only things I have booked are the World of Color Dessert party Friday night and then Steakhouse 55 Saturday morning.

I'm hoping they put out a merchandise preview soon so I can stop checking the parks blog multiple times a day!

Thanks! Yeah, I thought our best bet to get the most bang for our buck was a bus tour and I think we'll just do that. We'll have 3 days in DL/DCA but since this is our second trip, we also wanted to get outside the Disney bubble just a bit since it's much closer than from Florida! But we won't have a rental car since that seems to be more of a pain than it's worth for us. There's one bus tour that stops at La Brea Tar Pits, and since DH is a history buff and I'm a natural history buff, it seems like a perfect little stop for both of us. My only concern is that return trip because I have a feeling we'll be finished mid-afternoon and have to wait for the 5pm return bus (which, like you said could take a couple hours) and then I have the 10K on Saturday morning.

Nice! We only have one reservation at Blue Bayou for after the half marathon. Otherwise we're going to wing it with CS or Downtown Disney. There will also be a quick stop to In 'n' Out at some point since we've never been and want to see what the hype's all about.

Me too! Sadly, looking at past posts for DL races it looks like the staffer who posts it there (Michelle Harker) generally doesn't post it until a day or two before the expo opens. The only exception to that I've found was last year's DL Half which was posted a week before. :crazy2:

Carnation Cafe - Friday morning for Mickey Waffles.
Boardwalk Pizza/Pasta - Friday afternoon for the "last meal" before race.
Steakhouse 55 - Saturday morning after the race. Cannot wait to order the 2x4 with french toast!

Saturday dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Sunday dinner at Wine Country Trattoria for the WOC package. Breakfast will be free at the hotel since Stovalls puts on a pretty good spread. Lunches will be whatever sounds good at the time. Hoping to hit Trader Sams on Saturday I think. I've never been and its just me and a friend this time so sounds like the perfect time to check it out!

I know :( I wish they'd post sooner! Even though I'm not planning on buying anything other than a wine glass, I still want to see stuff!

Just some helpful information... If you are eating outside the parks for sit down (disney resort hotels, downtown disney), i would highly recommend reservations if you don't have them already. The popular places like Dinner at Napa Rose or brunch at Steakhouse 55 are probably already gone... Esp sunday at steakhouse since its mother's day as well.

If no reservations, you may be able to get in walk in but you will probably be waiting a long time. I believe at Napa Rose on Saturday night for disneyland half they were just turning people away without reservations.

DL Half was an anniversary ... and Tink is, too! So - maybe there's a chance??
