Official 2016 5th Anniversary Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Flights = booked! And a slight change of plans ... no more Mr. Keels this week (well, at least during the run portion of the weekend), instead I'll be having two ... and possibly THREE of my girlfriends join me for race weekend!!! I'm so stoked.

We ended up switching over to Paradise Pier in a Park View room because I NEED all the World of Color in my life that I can get.

For anyone still looking for a hotel, there were rooms available via RunDisney for all three on-property hotels. I'm arriving super early on Wednesday morning (into SNA), so I'll be staying Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Fairfield Inn before moving over to Paradise Pier for Friday-Monday! So freaking excited.

For booking through run Disney, were the prices reasonable? I have a great deal at the new holiday inn express, but might splurge on a room as this will be my first trip ever to Disneyland and I decided to make an actual vacation out of it so I am staying after race weekend

Thanks for the information. My friend and I got bibs through Marathon Tours. I can't believe it...we're in for Pixie Dust!!!

Congrats!

I was tempted, but I'm already running the half and I'm not really trained well enough to tackle the pixie dust. I would probably be walking the five and the 10 and the majority of the full. Or running the five and the 10 and half and walking the whole full. I just don't think I'm at the point where I could successfully run or run walk the majority of each of those races in the weekend. Maybe next year.

But definitely psyched that you were able to get it, if I'm not mistaken, the challenge sells super quick when it goes live?

Is wasn't so much a "deal" as it was that it was available and nobody else (TAs, etc.) had any availability.

There's three (possibly four *coughcough* @mbwhitti *cough*) of us going and sharing the room, so it will work out, cost-wise.

So I was trying to figure out how I was going to get the C2C medal (GSC in a month! ahh!) and kicking myself for not signing up for the Tinker Bell Half (since the Disneyland half is just a little too close to the DL Paris Half and for some reason work will not give me unlimited vacation days - rude) and it turns out there are still spaces available! So I'm in! Just the half (no Pixie Dust Challenge available ), but I'm excited!

Now I just need a flight and a place to stay. Oy! :confused3

I'm trying to decide if I should do my extra days before the race or after. Anyone have any insight on if the parks are more crowded in the days before the race or the days after? Are they pretty much the same?

Crowds start to come in on Thursday for the Expo and most people leave on Sunday.... I'd probably do earlier arrival and use it to "warm up" for the big events. I'm walking too much like a baby giraffe after to enjoy it.

Last year, I got there early Wednesday morning (this was for Disneyland Half) and left midday on the following Tuesday. That Monday was Labor Day, so it was crazy nuts.

But going forward (2016 Tink and DLH), I'm arriving again early on Wednesday morning and leaving early evening on Monday. I tend to frontload my park time and then spend Sunday and Monday relaxing by the pool or at/the bars in Downtown Disney and DCA, not doing many rides or park touring.

Oh awesome. This was my plan so I'm glad to see someone with experience thinks it will work out. :D

Hows training going for everyone? I did 6 miles this weekend. I know the training plan said 4 but I have another half the first weekend of April so I'm modifying a bit.

Zero training for me...just walking and lifting right now. 95% sure I'll be deferring PDC to next year, but I'm hoping to be ready for the 5K this year. :)
As sad as it is that you may have to defer it it's probably at least somewhat cheaper and definitely healthier than not deferring and trying to run it and doing it again next year with your deferred GSC.

I did 10 miles these weekend but it was 6 miles on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. I wanted the 4 to be longer but I had places to be.

Exactly. Since the pink C2C is already out for me this year, it makes the decision to defer PDC WAY easier! All about that bling. :)

Training wise I've been okay. I have two halfs before Tink so I have an 8 mile run tonight/tomorrow morning (depending on when my head clears up a bit). I'm well under Disney pace so just working on more endurance now.

I updated our estimated pace per minute and made sure that our addresses were correct on file. We're actually much faster and doing much better than in July when we signed up. :)

I'll have 5 official 5K races and 6 half marathons through Rock n Roll to run before the big TinkerBell 10K.... just working on endurance and pacing over the next few months. Strength training with my personal trainer will also help build stronger muscles too. I'm so ready to rock this run!
