Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I'm so jealous of all you people who are already there or are leaving soon. I have to wait until friday.

I, too, wish they would let you pre-order race shirts and other merchandise, but not blindly like they offer for the few items now. Show us pictures darnit!

It's travel day! It's travel day!!

Taking the pups to the kennel in 90 minutes and then it's off to the airport! See you all at the Happiest Place on Earth!!

I still have another 2 days of work before I leave Friday morning. :(

"No, I don't want to attend a bunch of strategic meetings tomorrow! My brain in on hiatus until next Tuesday!!!"

There are even some items I'd blind buy. I definitely wanted an "I Did It" shirt for my first marathon. Now, I have one that's much too big, and my wife does not have one at all.

Here's a crazy question... how many pairs of shoes are people bringing for the Dumbo Double Dare? I was going to bring two pairs: one for the 10k and one for the Half. That way if something happens during the 10K (like I fall into the Castle moat), I have a clean, dry pair. But then, my wife asked me if I'm going to bring a 3rd pair just for walking around the parks. I don't know! I didn't think about that!

If I fall into the moat on Saturday, then I'd have a fresh pair for Sunday. But Sunday will be 135 degrees, so those shoes will probably get sweaty... Am I going to have to bring another suitcase just for shoes??? (Well, if I buy some Disney New Balance, then I'll DEFINITELY need an extra bag coming home...)

Add me to the list of jealous people that doesn't get to go until Friday. Of course I'm thankful that I'm on that list and not on the staying at home this weekend list.

I'm going to bring 2 pairs or running shoes. I have a pair that's getting close to the point where I'm going to retire it. I'll use them as my walking around shoes and may do the 10k in them. I'll put my half shoes in my carry on. I'll also bring a pair of chucks or flip flops to wear in case I don't fell like putting running shoes on. I'm trying to keep my packing super light because I have to bring back a crapload of 60th merch to family and friends.

I'm bringing one pair of shoes I'll wear for the entire weekend including the Dumbo Double Dare. If I fall in the moat, I fall in the moat.

Yeah, I'm really only packing enough clothes to fill a medium-sized backpack, but I'm taking my largest suitcase because there's A LOT of STUFF that will need to come home for me. WITH me. I meant "come home WITH me." Because it's all for me. I MEAN "OTHER PEOPLE." It's all for OTHER PEOPLE.

(but mostly for me)

one pair of running shoes for 5k and DDD. Flip flops for walking around. Do plan to buy a pair of recovery (Oofos?) slides at the expo. Packing real light as well to leave room for shopping !!!

I'm being overly cautious and bringing an abundance of shoes, 1 pair for the 10K, 1 pair for the half, 1 pair for walking around the parks, and a pair of flip flops for after the half. Somehow I managed to get it all fit into a carry-on.

I'm only running the half, but if i were running the 10km, i'd do them both in the same pair of running shoes. 23ish hours should be sufficient drying/recovery time. I'm bringing 2 pairs of walking around shoes though (old running shoes that don't cut it for pounding out 21km anymore), and a pair of flip flops.

I don't see Oofos on the exhibitor list. Do you know who will be selling them? I'm intrigued.

One more reminder, if you are reading this you are invited to join the grand Tiki Room meet-up where you might easily meet three or even four other participants. Oh, and you can have a Dole Whip and visit the pretty birds while they sing and dance!

Thursday - Sept 3rd - Waiting area for the Enchanted Tiki Room 4:30pm'ish.

I'm easy to find. 6'3" wearing Red RunDisney Mickey shoes, Blue Shirt, White Hat, Cargo Shorts, carrying a Dole Whip.

.... Couldn't you have brought this dilemma up sooner?! :rotfl: I didn't even think about the likelihood of falling into the moat and now I'm worried, too. And it's too late for me to do anything about it; suitcase is in the car and I'm going straight to the airport after work.

I'm not doing the Dumbo Double Dare, but I think 2 pairs would be sufficient: 1 pair for 10k and another pair for half marathon. Even with the scenario of diving into the moat, the first pair should dry in time for the third day. You can stuff wadded up newspaper into damp shoes and even wrap them in newspaper to help them dry out faster. :)

See y'all there!! :hyper:
