Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I'm backing to jumping in my chair a bit every time I see that someone has posted on this thread...:faint: :rotfl2:

It's not cheap, but it sounds like an amazing experience!

That looks awesome! I feel like if DH and I had more time, we would do this, but we want to get as much out of the parks as possible. You'll have to report back on your experience!

OH, me too. Especially since the Dooney announcement.

Seriously though, I hope they post better Dooney pictures sometime this week. As for the medals, I really am wondering if they have decided to keep them under wraps until we get them at the finish line. :confused3

I was thinking the exact same thing about the medals. But realistically, if they do the medal design pins, we would see them then. I just don't see how they could completely keep it secret until then.

That's a good point about the pins. It's just odd to me because they seem to have been releasing pictures of the medals right around 2.5-3 months before the races...and here we are 2 months to the day until the half and nothing. :confused3

rD is reading this board and they are torturing us. That's got to be the explanation.

Or, just like everything else it seems like with this race, they're waiting until the last dang minute.

If we don't see them this week, I doubt we see them for at least two weeks because next week is going to be All Princess, All The Time.

Yeah, like...okay, we think the 5K is probably that scene with the characters in front of the castle (on the Facebook "In Training" photo). We know the 10K is the Magic Mirror and that Dumbo is pastel Dumbo.

I am trying not to get my hopes up too much but I have to think that them waiting this long cannot possibly mean that the Disneyland Half medal is simply the script "D" with a 10th anniversary banner. It's gotta be more than that.

Which probably means I am already setting myself up for disappointment! :rotfl2:

Watch them switch the D from solid gold to silver and blue and call it finished.

On the rD blog someone from runDisney posted how to Disneybound during a race as Anger from Inside Out - red shirt, black shorts and shoes. :rolleyes2 Truly ground-breaking stuff.

I left the following comment on the post, but I'm pretty sure it won't make it out of moderation: "Hi Aubrey [name of the author of the post], when are we going to get a better look at the Disneyland Half Marathon Dooneys, and a preview of the medals for that weekend? Thanks!"

Well week #10 is done on the DD program! Survived the back to back runs (2 miles, 9.5 miles). Dry conditions continue here smoke in the air from forest fires is annoying but no smell today just haze in the air. Foot held up, wrapped it with Vet Wrap kept it tight to give support around the ball of foot stopping the spread of foot. Looking forward to a lighter week next week but that short 4 MMiler. I go for more oezone shots next week in foot it seems to be helping just need to watch how much bending of ball of my foot. Went to Yoga last night I realized it is not good right now for foot . I have to make a choice which is more important ! Running main thing important I will have to do my own stretching cannot trust myself in a yoga class I do what instructor says. WHAOOO! ! Week 10 under my belt! Hope everyone is doing well with their training. Happy Feet just going along, well I keep telling myself that! Those medals are my carrot even though I don't know what the carrot looks like.

Hey all! Making final plans! So excited bc race weekend ends my 11 day first trip to California! Got my costumes planned out-10k I'm going as the TARDIS -no clue why except I love dr who-TARDIS dress headband and knee high socks. 1/2 I'm going as the Up! Mivie with a cute tank with the house and balloons and I'm making a balloon tutu out of tulle curtains I found on Amazon! I just need to get balloon knee high socks and headband and I'm set!

Some questions-is it possible to pick up your Bib the morning of the 10k before the race? I hate to take up park time to do it. Also, anyone staying at HoJo and want a walking buddy to the races? Finally, how do i get from HoJO to the corrals? Thanks all!

I recognise that question from the Facebook group ;) I'll say now what I said then - it really doesn't take that long to do packet pick up at the expo. Do it after lunch in the heat of the day when the crowds are at their highest, and you'll be pleased for a little air-conditioned break anyway. While I have also heard that RunDisney will give out bibs on the morning of the race, I think it's more for people who have genuine reasons for being unable to do it previously (eg unable to get vacation time, flight was delayed, etc). You would still have to go to the expo to pick up your shirt and any other merchandise anyway, so you may as well do it all at once.

Love your costume ideas by the way! Make sure you practice running in the knee-high socks before the day. Since you've got specific patterns, I assume you've just got cotton ones rather than running specific. It will be hot on the day, and cotton socks will get sweaty and uncomfortable, and could give you blisters. Personally I won't wear anything that's not tech or lycra, but there are plenty of other people who run in cotton, so it can be done :thumbsup2

Also-is one of the disneyland hotels clisest to HoJO or DTD? And what is the best restaurant in general closest to HoJO?

Thanks again and keep running!

The Grand Californian is the closest Disney hotel to HoJo - the entrance is literally in the middle of DTD. The Disneyland Hotel (where the expo will be) is not much further away at the end of DTD.

As for food, we always enjoy LaBrea café in DTD. It's the very first building as you enter from the Harbor side, so it's pretty close to HoJo. If you want to take a break from Disney, there's the restaurants at GardenWalk, which is about a (large) block from HoJo - DTD is closer.

60 days until the half!! :yay:

OMG OMG OMG!

Good work! So glad that your foot seems to be holding up!

Thanks! I did write it in FB too bc I keep hearing different things. I just hate using park time bc it's so limited for us. And dh gets annoyed when running stuff interferes with other stuff so was rely trying to avoid that. Thanks for the advice on the costume too and the meals!
