Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

@Ariel484 hoping it's not too serious and a speedy recovery. I've got 6 miles planned for tomorrow but don't know when I'm going to get it in. It's already terribly hot and humid in Mississippi. I've found that I can deal better with higher temps and lower humidity.

I did my 8-mile long run today. Normally Saturdays are my long run days, but we're getting thunderstorms tomorrow...I'll run in the rain but I draw the line at thunder and lightning.

I had really great weather (not humid, overcast, temps in the low-mid 60s) and the first 6 miles were great. Then I stepped on a small, fat branch at the 10K mark and rolled my left ankle. :headache: PANIC (and an f-bomb). The pain went down after a few minutes and I made it home doing 1:1 run/walk intervals (I was using 3:30/1:00 before that, which felt really good), so my overall pace was shot, obviously. But I'm just glad I finished and didnt seriously injure myself. I've had a compression sock on all evening, have iced and taken Advil...it's a little achy but not awful. And all this after getting hit with a pretty sizable plumbing bill...just one of those days. I think I need some wine now. ::yes::

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Hope it's just a minor thing and you're back out there soon.

Yikes. Hopefully nothing serious. Wine should help with your recovery. Hope you're at full strength soon.
And after all that...I FORGOT to drink my wine. :faint: But husband did get me a peanut butter shake and it was delicious and did make me feel better!
Just did my long run for the week. I'm going by time rather than distance, and today was 1:12. It worked out to be nearly 9km. It went well and I'm feeling pretty good now.

Did a weigh in this morning and pleased to report that over the last 2 weeks, I have lost exactly 1kg (which is just over 2 pounds) :goodvibes Just have to do that about 10 more times now lol!
Way to go!! :yay:

I would say...not too serious but it is a little more sore than I was hoping this morning. It woke me up a couple of times last night because I'd roll over and it wouldn't be supported anymore and that would hurt. But I'm walking around okay and stuff. I was supposed to go to yoga today but I decided to cancel that so the stupid ankle can heal. I have a short run scheduled tomorrow...undecided as to whether or not I'll do it yet. :confused3

I agree with you, humidity is the WORST. Hope you found a way to get your run in.

Thanks! :goodvibes I think I got lucky this time!!

Hope you are okay! Sending healing thoughts! Yes wine will help and a recliner!

Ran 35 minutes today, and other than one funny step I took (where the concrete met the grass...oops), no pain! :thumbsup2

The bigger issue was the weather - mid-70s, sunny and humid. :crazy2: Summer running...and I know it's way worse other places!

Glad to hear that your foot wasn't too injured!

At least you'll be prepared for race weekend this way, right? Speaking of summer temperatures, I had to switch to running in the early morning before work... I'm surprisingly loving it! (I am normally a night owl.)

Me too...whew!

true! That's the one silver lining...

I switched to AM runs a couple of years ago and surprisingly really like it too. I like getting it done first thing and then being able to come home from work and sit on my lazy butt in the evenings. Still need to get the bedtime WAY earlier though (constant struggle).

I'm so relieved to hear this! I was so worried!! But sounds like you had a great run.

If you ever want to come experience "Summer in Texas", I've got a delightful spare bedroom you're welcome to stay in. Also, margaritas.

Phew!

Apart from the daily struggle to get out of bed when it's still dark and close to freezing outside, I've grown to like my early morning workouts too. Mostly because then I can relax after work :thumbsup2 But I'm also finding it's a great way to wake myself up for the day, and start the day feeling a bit more energised!

Thanks!! Yep, it was a good one...I did pass out for about 30 minutes on the couch this afternoon though. This Ohio girl is not used to the heat yet (which is sad, because it isn't even THAT hot here).

Margaritas you say...:scratchin
EXACTLY. :faint:

I so agree that getting out of bed is the worst part. And you're so right about it being energizing, I definitely find that I am more sluggish at work on days that I don't work out first.

And if you really want to have some summer running fun, come on over to the Middle East. Actually, summer running here isn't too bad because most of us just take the summer off. :rotfl:

Thanks! I actually had a much better run than I thought I would. Hit the road about 7am with temps in mid-70s and 95% humidity (yuck!) I wanted to straight run 6 miles, but I got to 4.5 and knew that if I didn't start some walk breaks, I wouldn't make it. So at 4.5 I started 2:00/:30 run/walk. Ended up with an overall pace of 10:04. I was very pleased for the first day of summer! Now if I can just keep this going through July...
