Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I am on week 6 of the Dumbo Training did my 4 miles at the MM Pace. Still not sure about this. I run in kilometers so held a 6:00 to 6:30 pace for my 6.5km. It was a push but do able. Having a problem with heat not sure if it is the aftermath of getting over heated at Tinkerbell.

Be sure to stay hyrdrated and pace yourself with the heat.
With heat and humidity the temperature is about 100 degrees (F) here in Virginia. Looks like I will be logging some quality treadmill time this week. :beach:

I found this info on the MM - I don't think you needed to do the whole run at that pace! That's awesome that you could though. :)

I think we all struggle with the heat - it's tough unless you're really, really used to the weather. This is a quote from Galloway's website: "When the temperature rises above 60 degrees F: runners slow down by 30 seconds a mile for every 5 degrees above 60 degrees F." I'd guess that the heat combined with pushing your pace today did a number on you! :(

UGH. No, not until I read your message.

They aren't coming to DL this year! :( Probably good for my wallet but sad just the same.

Lotta chatter on Twitter that SparkleSkirts got pushed out/was not given a spot at the Expo because they needed to accommodate corporate sponsors. Seeing as they're always at events - and we're just at Tink! - as well as Disneyland last year, this is kind of disappointing to me. I'd hope that rD would basically give right of first refusal to repeat vendors. But, also, what do they have that means they're turning Expo vendors away?

I read something similar on Facebook. From what I read, SparkleSkrits WAS offered a booth, but only after the bigger corporate sponsors got their booths assigned. The booth they were offered was 10x10 or something. Per the person that posted (have no idea how knowledgeable they are), "it does not make financial sense for SS to travel across the country to only have a tiny booth." Which totally makes sense to me - pictures of their booth at Tink made it look HUGE, and the cost to transport the skirts plus flight and hotel for their employees needs to be offset somehow. If they can't bring as much stock with them to sell, they don't make as much money.

It really, really stinks. :(

Uuuuuuugh! They don't have the new medals here at the expo!!!!! They just have the 2014 medals displayed. :sad2: They said they thought they would have them by now, but they're just not ready. So disappointing! Sorry team.

Thanks MM very help full I guess easiest thing is to drive to the track. I think I will move my long training runs to mid day to try and get a little heat exposure. At Tink I was 2 miles from the finish on the half, the last time through the tunnel where the heat got me pulled into water station stopped , a man from the back of the table came in front and started dumping water on my shoulders and neck. He talked to me and was so nice made sure I was OK. He cooled me so I could finish! I guess this is still fresh in my mind have to get past this mental memory. Training is going great! I'm lucky to have a great running partner my husband. This will be his first half!

10x10? Seriously? That's all that was available to them? That's a pop-up tailgating tent, basically.

I'm guessing someone corporate bought a massive bulk space allotment that made them reconfigure things.
But they should really honor the space of what past vendors have used before a new vendor, regardless of status. That's how most markets do it.

I know space at DL isn't as infinite as it is at WDW, but still. That kinda bugs me.

No mid-day runs for me! I'm gonna try to get them done as early as possible. :)

Yeah, if true, this is pretty crappy. And I don't blame them for skipping the expo this year. :(

My training is sucking lately too. I've been doing 5km and have done it a couple of times without walking (I was running 21.1km/13.1miles without walking before surgery!) On top of the sucky cardio performance, i'm not allowed to lift anything over 10lbs for another month! At least I got the green light for yoga today.

Kelly, report back on the Seatle RnR. I did the Vegas RnR last year. I'm contemplating signing up for the Vancouver one this year. I'd like to hear people's experiences outside of Vegas.

I'm not doing the Seattle RnR. It's a good thing last weekend I did a run in Victoria and it killed me. It was a 10k loop twice for the half. I didn't realize there were different surfaces I wore my road racers not suitable for gravel and hills on gravel. After the first 10k loop I pulled off I decided I'm not running on that! So worried about falling and sliding on the hills so I walked them. My feet are still sore!
I have never done Las Vegas was looking at it this year. If I can get a cheap deal out of here I may just pop down.
I ran RnR Vancouver last year beautiful route the only thing the girls didn't like was the fact that the hills were all on the last 3rd of the course through Stanley Park. I loved the course. My complaints were the field they had the concert in was, a mud hole. It had rained very hard a few days before . I had mud coming over the tops of my runners I left right after run. I realize it was the first time for the Vancouver site but it was put on very poorly in my opinion. But the course is beautiful. I am going to the Portland Marathon Weekend The first weekend in October they do a fabulous job and the food is great! I am running the half there. Great girls weekend shopping, eating, and the run!

@Kelly1, thanks for the tip. I was thinking about that too. Not sure how I will take pictures with those giant 4 finger gloves? They will be great to "high-four" the crowd! Probably need some practice runs with them to figure out how to drink and take pictures.

I've run in the gloves for basically every Disney race I've ever done. The aid station volunteers laugh every time, it's great! They love breaking up the monotony of passing out cups by trying to squeeze one into the glove or balance it.

Kelly, thanks for the info! We're actually debating between the Vancouver RnR and the Victoria Half marathon. I should probably just assume it's going to rain on the Vancouver race, it's always raining in Vancouver!

Yes rain! But last year RnR was beautiful and sunny I wore shorts and a tank in October . But the days before it rained and rained! This year it is so dry here wishing for a little rain can't believe I'm saying such words! I have never done Victoria friends have they have just said it was OK.
