Yes I realize I'm ridiculous.

I confess that I've given up on checking ... only because I know that you are enthusiastically doing so and you'd share any updates with us immediately

That's my way of saying that I'd be doing the same thing if you weren't already :)

...but what if I give up?? Then what will you do? ;)
The struggle is real.
I mean really...if my biggest problem right now is that I don't know what the 5K and 10K themes will be for the races I'm going to run in Disneyland - of all places!! - things must not be too bad. :)

Well ... because I'm totally bored as a gourd, I called runDisney to ask.

The web group has no ETA on when those files will be added to the site as they're still waiting on another department to give them an ETA on when they'll even be ready to go online.

So.

BAH!

Yeah, tell me about it. The poor guy I was talking to was so confused - he was instant messaging with the boss of the website to try to get me an answer. It will be really cutting it close if it's not out by the end of this week, since next week should be Week 1.

Yeah, and then people will be like, "well the plan will be the same as last year - just follow the first few weeks of last year's plan!" REALLY just looking for the theme here! :teeth:

No worries, RunDisney won't let us down. Right! I mean......right????!!!

They are probably just securing more diamonds to make sure they have enough to hand out during Race weekend and hoping people with names like Ariel, Keels and Slogger don't take their cushy jobs.

Hold up. Keels poses no threat! She's retired and plans to stay that way!

I asked about that, too! And he's like - "oh, it's the original one!"

So, I kinda just gave up at that point.

It has been discussed in previous year's threads. If you do a search for the official thread 2014 you should be able to find it.

Here is a brief rundown of what I remember without searching for the thread myself (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I think the corrals went up to J. The last corral is basically people who don't have POT or are expecting to take more than 3:30. The second last corral was for people with a proof of time between 3:15-3:30. The third last corral was for people with a POT between 2:30-3:15. And the 4th last corral was for 2:15-2:30 I think. That was the one I was aiming for, but it's not going to happen - I'll have to be content with the 3rd last corral (based on last year's placements). The last 3 corrals contained nearly half of all the runners with about 3000 in each - they were massive!

The corrals are usually opened about an hour before the start time - so 4:30am for a 5:30am start. They release the first corral (which is basically people who actually have a chance of winning the race) at 5:30am, then every few minutes until everyone has gone. I didn't do it last year (just the 5k and 10k), but I imagine with that many people in the last corrals, it would probably take a while for everyone to pass through the starting line. It's highly likely that the last corral wouldn't actually start until after 6am. This is a bit of a catch 22, because if you are in the last corral, you really want to get there nice and early so that you can at least be at the front of the corral, but then you'd be standing around waiting for at least an hour and a half to actually start running!

There was not much in the way of entertainment until about 5:15am, when the race announcers got up on stage (last year with Stitch) to get the crowd going. Once they start releasing corrals, they basically go through the same spiel for each one, so it gets a bit repetitive! Most people stood up the whole time, but my legs were tired so I sat down until the race announcers appeared.

If you want to improve your corral placement (so that you're not standing around for so long, and to give yourself more of a buffer from the sweepers), you have until 2nd June to lodge your POT.

Hey thanks Zanzibar, I never thought to JFGI!

Here's the link for anyone who is interested in 2014's corral times: http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/pdf/disneyland-half/2014/2014_DLHM_CorralAssignments.pdf

I'm really looking forward to the corral assignments. In my last half, I had to dodge walkers pretty much right off the starting line. I spent 13 miles trying to run around people!

I think those people underestimate the OCD-ness of the average DISboarder. I NEED to download the plan into my calendar don't you know!

Part of me thinks I would LOVE to work for runDisney...but as my husband pointed out, if I worked for them, I wouldn't get to actually participate in the races. :(

Yeah, what? :sad2:
I love this entire conversation! The anticipation is killing me.
Me too! I definitely think it's approaching the point where whatever they post cannot compare to what I am anticipating in my head...:faint:
INCONCEIVABLE! That's a trick question; you would never give up!
:teeth: True!

Ah yes, good point! ::yes:: I'm a Higdon gal so I'm just in it for the theme!
