Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Wow! That's dedication :thumbsup2

I'm not sure I could ever keep up with the training for a full marathon.

You're doing brilliantly Keels! By the time the Disneyland half comes around, it will just be a walk in the park for you :rotfl:

I've missed you, zanzibar!! That's all. :D

Does anyone know what the Half Marathon 10th anniversary party is that is thurs night ?? Get sports travel packages include a ticket to this but I don't see it listed as an event to register for?

Anyone know the cost for the Dumbo this year? Didn't see it on the runDisney site but I probably just missed it somewhere. Thanks.

$330+fees/tax...

I registered for Dumbo and also got pins for Dumbo, the half and the 10K and after all of that my total was $403...and I did the same for the 5K (race + pins). So when all was said and done I'm right at $500. :faint: Yowza!

Thanks! runDisney life isn't cheap. Trying to compare that GetTravel package to just booking on my own. Looks like they can get a decent discount on Disney hotels so we'll see.

Here is some info from an email I got from GetSports Travel for the 10th anniversary party on that Thursday.
Party Special Highlights:
-Entry into Disneyland® Park at 4 PM
(Special admittance wristband provided by GET Sports)
-Private Anniversary Party at Disneyland® Park (9 PM-12 AM)
-Exclusive after-hours access to Select Attractions only.
-Private showing of 60th Anniversary "Paint the Night" night-time spectacular featuring Disney characters and over 1.5 million lights
-Special Disney Entertainment
-Disney Character appearances meet & greet

I'm not sure how many people will end up attending but the private showing of Paint the Night would be pretty cool. (Its the all new night-time parade)
If you have the tickets as part of your package and don't have to wake up early for the 5K the next day I would totally go.

No, no it's not... :)

This almost sounds worth doing the travel package. Is GetSports one of the ones doing split payments? If I don't get in on regular registration, I'm definitely doing this. If anyone isn't using their party tickets, I'll take them off your hands, lol!

For some reason I lost all my subscribed threads with the new look DisBoards :sad2: I thought everyone was just being really quiet :rotfl:

That sounds AWESOME! Made me sad that I hadn't booked their package. Until I realised that it was on the Thursday night so I wouldn't have been able to go anyway (I'm doing the 5k). It's hard enough getting up at 3:30am without being up until midnight the night before :rotfl:

Go to "Watched Threads." They should be there.

Yep, they are still there. I just wasn't receiving any email notifications about new posts in any of them. The emails started again after I went back into all of those threads, so it seemed like I just needed to 'reactivate' it or something.

Weird??? Glad it's working again.

Yeah, me too :thumbsup2

In other news, I hit a bit of a milestone today - first 10k run with no walk breaks :hyper: Now I just need to build my speed to get that coveted corral I'm after!

Meanwhile, yesterday my parents did a sub 2 hour half...

congrats to both you and your parents! :cheer2: That's awesome! I'm working on speed to move up corrals too. My goal by summer is to finally break 2:30; I have a whole bunch of halves by June so hoping at 1 of them I can do it.

Just wanted to let you know that Once Upon A Time Vacations is also selling bibs for the race along with the Disneyland Marathon 10th Anniversary party and 2 day park hoppers. They also do a split payment option. Takes a little bit of the sting for paying for everything at once!

Oh man, the anniversary party sounds awesome! I wonder if it's only for the travel package people, as the only option I was given when I was registering was for the pasta party.

That's my goal too! Except I'm planning to do it in a 10k, so I'll need to get under 1:07. Currently struggling to break 1:15 lol!

Yes, the anniversary party is one of the perks of booking a travel package. I don't think there's any other way to get it.

Dang. I was planning on skipping the "special event" to go see my Rangers play the Angels that night because I thought it was just the Pasta Party. Now, I may have to rethink that. :(

Wow.....barely 24 hours to go before registration opens. Still on the fence about whether this is the year to do it and get our Coast to Coast medals too.
Wife and I took the kids to WDW in January for Marathon weekend but they wouldn't be able to come to DL in the fall so that's mostly a bummer.
Labor Day weekend can be tough for cross country flights.
And obviously it will be warmer than WDW in January was.
The cost is always a downer and registration is stressful.

But outside of that, I can't think of any other real reasons not to try.
Probably won't be able to do a RunDisney event after this year until 2018 (hoping to do Star Wars (with kids) and Wine and Dine (without).
C'mon people...give me some motivation here!

Come on, @Slogger. All the cool kids are doing it. ;)

Motivation: a 10th anniversary Disneyland Half Marathon medal + the Partners Coast-to-Coast medal. That is all.
