OFFICIAL 2014 WDW Marathon Countdown: WE DID IT! Congrats everyone!

That kinda sounds almost like what I'm doing,I'm doing ToT in early Oct.,I'm doing the Miami Beach Halloween Half marathon in late Oct.,the Disney full marathon in January and the ING Miami half marathon in early Feb.

:thumbsup2 I keep telling myself it's no different than having a few 12-14 mile training runs lined up... but I'm actually pretty intimidated, lol!

I'm so excited right now!! One of my best friends just surprised me and signed up for the marathon!! It'll be his first full marathon, and I'll be running Dopey, so who knows how fast we'll be, but it's going to be so helpful and encouraging to have him by my side for all those miles! Yippee!!! :D

Hi, all! I'm super excited to have the Disney World Half Marathon be my first Half Marathon! I have been running for a about 5 months and I know I have plenty of time to train and be ready for the race come January. I need a good app to help me. What do you veteran runners suggest? I know I will have tons of questions between now and then, but right now, I'm too excited for all that!:thumbsup2

:welcome:

Hi Pluto - no not this year. Maybe in 2015. I was trying to get a better understanding of registration for these high demand races because I'm trying very hard to get my act together so I can do Tink/Princess/Glass Slipper. The lure of 4 medals in one weekend is just toooooo tempting. We'll see if I can pull it off without getting hurt. :lmao:

 I can't even THINK that far ahead! :lmao:

This will be my first marathon too! I am running ToT, a 10 miler on Oct 27, W&D and Space Coast Half! I'm using Hal Higdon's Novice 2 plan (I've always used Galloway for the halfs but didn't want to go up as high this time) and most of the races line up nicely (ToT I should be running 11 miles so only 1 off, for the 10miler on Oct I am supposed to run 14 but I will switch with the 9 miler the weekend before, for W&D half he actually has in to run a half, and for Space Coast its a 13 miler weekend....so pretty perfect)

I use the HH plan but with the Galloway method. "See" you at SC 1/2!

You'll rock it! A race instead of a training run will definitely keep your mind occupied.

What a wonderful surprise!

I'm in! First 1/2 and first Disney run

Welcome!

We're in! It will be my DH and I's first Disney run and first trip in January. We just started running last Aug and are very much looking forward to running through one of our favorite places on earth! We still have to book our room, so hopefully when I go to do that there will still be places to stay.

Amazing how quick things can change.

I ran Disney in January and had a rough go with it (for me). My body still wasn;t recovered from an Ironman in November and I tried to push the front half of the marathon a little too hard and paid for it with every step after Wide World of Sports.

I was actually supposed to run the Rock N Roll Marathon in March in New Orleans, but decided during Disney I was just too tired and needed some down time. So, thats what I did.

I rested and started back with alot less distance. Gradually increased my weekly mileage and inserted some speedwork and tempo runs while I prepped for a BIG 10K we have here (I wanted a PR bad).

A week before the last tune up before that 10K was an 8K I was planning on running at my 10K desired goal pace and all went off without a hitch.

The next Tuesday I felt a pain in my hip that wouldn't let me run at all. Stretched, ice, stretch, massage, rest, then finally, saw a doctor. MRI revealed a torn labrum but it wasn't so bad that it wouldn't heal on it's own.

So, here we are two months later, still in pain, just got a cortisone injection into my hip socket today and am looking at surgery sometime this summer. 6 months to resume normal activity. My triathlon and marathon season ended in the blink of an eye.

We'll still be in Disney and I'll still be supporting and probably volunteer this year, but really going to miss being able to compete.

I had to miss 2011 because I tore my rotator cuff so unfortunately, I have experience coming back from injury, this one just stings a bit more right now.

That stinks, sorry to hear. I tore a ligament in my thumb skiing (well actually falling) last season and the surgery and rehab cost me the beginning of the season. Luckily it was a thumb and I just needed to be comfortable to break on the bike before getting back to it.

This may have been asked before but where is the expected course for the 10k?

If its been asked before I apologize but where is the 10K thought to take place?

I thought I read it is planned to go through Epcot, but the actual course won't be announced until a future date.

No official transfers, but there's a guy named Craig with a list of sorts that you might want to look at in the fall.

No offense, but this is a terrible idea. If you get caught (and you might, since a lot of people selling their bibs are actually Disney trying to catch people) you and the other person are banned for life.

Made my plane reservations tonight and by next week I'll have enough points for the room reservation. I'm so excited!

Unless the policy has been updated recently, the blacklisting is not for life. Last time I asked, it was for a few years.
