I won't make the half with what my schedule is looking like it'll be for work & school. I'm looking at days starting at 4:00 am to make it to class on time followed by working most of time until 1000 pm or later. Since I can do some studying at work it won't be too bad that way. I'm just not thinking that the 45 minutes I did get scheduled in fie the gym won't be enought to get to the distance of the half.

Hey, does anyone know what the discounts are on WDW hotels (and tickets) for marathon runners?

If tradition holds there will not be discounts on park tickets like other race weekends and they usually release discounts on rooms thru Disney but they are not just for runners they are open to the general public:(

Where do you see the counter that shows the percentage of runners already signed up for the full marathon? I've just about decided to do it and don't want to wait too long

You can’t see it until it gets over 50%, and then it’ll go up on RunDisney.com

I am so excited to be a part of this weekend! Do you guys usually have a disboards meet up at all during the weekend?

Actually you can get discounted tickets by going to wide world of sports after the race. You can only get them on the day of your race (not sure how that is monitored as we didn't purchase). When we went to the expo for the 2012 marathon, we went to the ticket kiosk at WWoS and the cast member explained the details and prices. I do not remember them now. This wasn't something they advertised, but it was available in 2012.

That is so cool! Maybe they will do this for 2013!

That's a rough schedule. However, you will still be able to do the half if you want. Last year I went from an all time high of 5 miles to a half marathon in just over 5 weeks using run/walk intervals and by taking one run a week that got progressively longer until I had run 10 miles in training.

Honestly - with a 16 min limit per mile...you can walk the vast majority and stay within the limit.

I did a post on the first half I ran and a fair amount of discussion on how I was able to ramp up that quickly at http://www.runningforit.com/2013/01/first-half-marathon-frederick-half.html

Here is a hint though - it involved Jeff Galloway. :-)

i don't plan on making this my "i need to get under my time limit" race. currently i'm running 9 minute miles so i don't think it'll be an issue. i'm going to want to take pictures of me with all the characters that are around.

I have run on and off for the past few years, but never ran an official race. This year some friends (some runners, some not) decided we should all run it together.

So...off we go!!! There are 12-13 of us and we are leaving the kids at home!

I can't think of a better place to run my first race! :cool1:

Looking forward to reading all the posts here on the DIS!;)

So jealous that you have a huge team going. All my friends think I'm nuts for even wanting to run let alone doing marathons and half marathons

This may be a stupid question. I am running the marathon, but I have not signed up yet. I am watching first to see if I can get a discount with the visa card. Its happened in the past. Any thoughts of it happening again?

I signed up using the Disney Visa advance purchase discount. The promo code to enter at checkout is the first 4 digits of your Disney Visa card. Payment must be made with your Disney Visa. The discount offer expires June 18. It gives you $15 off each event.

I don't have a special link I can give you because I deleted that email but I think there is a place to enter a promo code as you "check out" of your registration. Hope that helps. Good luck!

thank you. Wow. I never got an email. Thank you again, Can I ask what the discount was.

If you log into your disney visa cc site and look for limited time offers there is a link to register for the marathon. $15 off.

I found the information. Thank you. $15 is not what it was, but every little bit helps. Thank you :)
