I am registered for Dopey and I've never done a runDisney event or been to Disney. I know all hotels are host hotels, but are there some that are walking distance to the start and finish? Or are shuttles a must? Thanks for your help!

Recommend Shuttles.

However, Best locations for "walking to start area" will be the Old Key West, Port Orleans, Port Orleans Riverside. Never walked over but some Dis'ers have done it many times without any problems.

Only issue is if you are going to check a bag race day you won't be able to get to bag check with walking over, you'll have to take the shuttles.

Doing this 10K with my sister who has been up and down with illnesses and finally thinks she wants get well enough to do her first race with me. Awwww.

I'll miss my duck medal

Just noticed the latest percentages. Does the Dopey number include the marathon or will the percentage sold for that specific race be reflected separately once it goes over 50%? I haven't registered and I'm worried it might sell out shortly

The Dopey numbers posted is just for the allowance on that type of race package - if you are just signing up for the Marathon then it has not hit 50% yet

Technically, you can walk from Port Orleans - Riverside and Port Orleans - French Quarter. I wouldn't advise it especially if you aren't familiar with the area. It's super dark on race morning and there is heavy traffic.
