Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

When I compared Gettravel vs AP rate they seemed be almost the same prices.
I choose to book directly so I'm able to make changes if needed.

I scored and got two rooms at Stovalls for $69.00 plus tax per night! Thanks to information I got from this site and using LMT.com!!

What is LMT.com? Can you give me the information? I want to try to rebook my two rooms at the rate you got. Your rate is much cheaper than the one I got for $109!

If folks are still looking for accommodations, the Del Sol Inn (on Harbor right near the main entrance) has special prices and AP holders. I just booked a room with 2 queens for $90/night. :) You have to go through their website to find the discounts.

So (I know this page & the DL page have many of the same followers...but I have to ask to see what other answers I get)..

Is staying on site (for the sole purpose to gain access to EE) possible?
Do they have EE on race days?

They were not cancelled last year.

EE (Magic Mornings) are usually cancelled on race weekends, so no need to pay the $$ to stay onsite if that's your only reason to stay in a Disney hotel. However, the Disney hotels are closer to the starting line than most other hotels. We stay over on Harbor in a non-Disney place. We consider the walk over to the start to be our warm-up for the races.

:confused3 two helpful people...two different answers.....anyone else know if they have EE on race mornings??
I would be staying onsite for that PERK!

Here's what I answered on the other thread:

Nope. It was definitely happening last year. They did not cancel emh that weekend.

We stayed on site and my plan was to get into DCA after the race to ride rsr before the rush! I didn't go but that was my original plan

It also explained the change in route from 2012. 2012 you ran DL first and them streets of Anaheim, finishing up by running DCA at end. That's because DL had emh On Sundays- Or maybe no one did. Don't rennet. Anyway, changed up the schedule for emh and DCA now had them. So the route changed and we run through DCA first now.

I remember all this because I was so upset about the route change at the time. But the emh made it necessary.

I dug up my old post obsessing about the EMH and possible course change (which it did change) It's on the DL thread. HTH

If we start at 5am, and EMH are at 8 like they were last year, then yeah, you could finish, head to DCA and ride if your post race process is a fairly quick one! Mine tends to be drawn out and long- so I'll probably miss the EMH totally. But it's an option.

Well we had a snafu. One of the ladies in my group was scared she might not be able to do the half and so signed up for the 10K. Did she call us first to let us know? NO!!! She about died when I told her the 10K is on a DIFFERENT day!

So we are traveling from Texas as a group. She will run on Saturday and we will cheer her on and then she will have to cheer all of us on for the half on Sunday.

Look at the bright side, now you have a pack mule to carry all your bags on race day!

Are the start/finish lines really at Stovalls?

It's really the parking lot at PPH across the street for the finish and staging area. The start is DL Drive under the DTD overpass, going the opposite way of the DL 1/2, w/ the corrals lining up going back towards Stovall's. but yeah, if you're at Stovall's you're basically at the start and finish.:goodvibes

Thanks for the explanation. The map looked like it started under the DTD overpass but wasn't sure.

wow....the kids races are sold out already!!! guess if DD wants to do the 5K we need to get registered!

Hi everyone. I am registered for the 10K only and I'm leaning toward making this a family trip. We've had several other family trips to Disneyland, but this is my first time doing a runDisney event, so there's few things I have questions about.

1. How many discounted park tickets can you buy from GetTravel. We have a family of 6, possibly others may join us as well. Are there any other limitations to the discounted tickets? Is GetTravel the cheapest option?

2. How busy are the parks that weekend? Our state has Monday off of school for Martin Luther King Day. Do the CA schools have that day off as well.

3. I'm looking at staying at the Best Western Park Place Inn, 3 nights in a mini suite for about $530. Does anyone have any better suggestions for a family of 6 on a budget?

4. What exactly do you get with the Chear packages? What's the differences between the complimentary, silver, bronze, etc?? Do the Chear packages sell out?

Thanks for the help!

I can only help you with a couple of your questions...

2. Most CA schools have that Monday off. I did Tink last year and I felt that Saturday was a pretty easy day in the parks as far as crowds go. Sunday morning felt ok too but by late afternoon it was starting to feel pretty crowded. We were out of there by 5 I think. I can't speak to Monday because we were driving home that day. So yes its crowded but not unbearable would be my verdict.

3. The mini suite at BWPPI isn't a true suite. Theres a half wall that seperates the area with the beds from the area with the pull out coach and TV. You might want to look into Desert Inn and Suites. I've found they run a little cheaper (usually) and they do have some options that are true seperate suites rather than just a half wall seperating the areas. Desert Inn and Suites is about the same walking distance as BWPPI as well.

GetTravel was the best deal I found. You shouldn't have any problems getting multiple tickets. My DH and I each have an AP but we are traveling with friends for the DDD in September and purchased 8 tickets for family and friends.

1. We bought regular Disney discounted tickets for Tink this year since they were only $15 more per person and we received the magic morning early entry. You don't receive that with the GET travel tickets. We had 5 day hoppers so the difference would probably be more if you had less days.

2. Monday was busy due to the holiday, but the hours are the same as Sunday and they have the fireworks. They probably have Fantasmic as well, but it was under refurbishment this year.

3. We stay at the Eden Roc Inn & Suites. This is not a Good Neighbor hotel and it is very no frills. I don't mean to sound snide, but if you are picky about your hotel this would probably not work for you. They have two room suites that come with a kitchenette for about $90 a night. We spend all day in the parks (open to close) so the hotel is not a big deal to us. For us we can't beat the price.

4. First, the chear squad is only for the half. Personally I don't think the chear squad is worth the cost especially if you have 6 people. You can see the runners between the parks at the esplanade and in downtown disney. There are other areas you can see runners on the course. Here is the link to the packages.

Jeff- is that the one on DL Drive on the other side of Katella across from CoCo's? When we go we're like you at the park or DTD until nighttime, so we'd be there just for sleeping. I know you said no frills, but how are the beds and bathrooms? If that's all you use it for sounds like a great price!
