Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Just curious - how many people ran Tink last year? I want that spinning Tink BAD and it is the tragedy of my life that I didn't do the inaugural Tink!

Well I have missed a lot while I was on a Cruise this week.

It sound like a lot of us are planning on getting out C2C with Tink and W&D. W&D is still my favorite race I have ever run. Maybe because it was my first Half.

I getting ready to really start training this week for my summer races. I gave my self a break after running the full in January and then decided to push it back even further until after I came back from the cruise. Well I'm back so it's back to training.

Hi everyone. I ran my first 10k yesterday and I was wondering how my time was in terms of a goal to train to for running a half. I keep reading on the boards that runDisney assigns your corral based on a 10k time. So, yesterday was the first time I ran that distance and my time was 1:17:53. Hopefully as my running improves that time will come down, but if I were to submit that where would I end up placement wise?

Here's the breakdown for Corrals last year. It can change year to year based on how fast the field of runners is that particular year!

http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/pdf/tinkerbell/2013-CorralAssignmentsTink.pdf

That's a little over a 12:30 min mile- so 2:43ish half (but that's not accounting for slowing down with the higher mileage- just the straight math!) If they gave you a 2:43 projected finish, you would have been in B corral this year. :thumbsup2 not too shabby!

How is your Fitbit going ??? Are you still using it ??? I am still interested in one--just have not had the time to get one.

Fitbits are the greatest thing ever :cool1: I highly recommend them. I cannot imagine that you would be disappointed if you got one.

I agree! I got everyone in my family one and we are having fun competing for steps each day. It's a great little tool that makes you aware of how active or sedentary your lifestyle is and what you need to do to up that.

Ok, need advice, what do you do in the midst of training when you get a head cold? I got hammered with a doozy last week, and I thought I was fine by today to run... Well... It wasn't pretty... Managed to squeak out 2 measly miles and my pace totally sucked cause I couldn't breathe and eventually I was feeling lightheaded!

So when you all catch the crud, do you take a break? Do you power through it?? I really didn't want to take a break, whenever I do it is SO HARD to get my miles back up!!

I got a really bad cold a month before PHM and was freaking out...running coach said to take a week off and don't even do that half marathon here in San Antonio that week:( He didn't want me to weaken my immune system anymore than it was with the cold so I followed advice and took the week off. Didn't impact my training when I geared back up...so enjoy a week off, drink plenty of fluids and watch TV or movies or read! Feel better soon!:goodvibes

Agreed! :thumbsup2 A week won't hurt you but pushing through and continuing to run might. Rest!

You're going to have weeks like this. Take them in stride, listen to your body, and when you're ready, pick up where you left off. Stressing over it will make it worse...physically and mentally. If you're really feeling the guilt, walk a bit, stretch a bit, etc. Don't push your body to do something it's not capable of doing at the moment.

Don't worry....Tink is spinning on both of my medals, the inaugural and the one this past Jan., only the ribbons have changed. Come out to the West Coast and get your spinning Tink you will love it !! :)

I think there were 17000 registered for Tink last year.

Good to know !!! :) I've got to pick one up soon.
Love the story too. :rotfl:

Vicki When you get it you can friend DVCDaisy and I on the fitbit community and we can support and cheer each other there also. :thumbsup2

You will really love it. I also use it ( along with my Nike+ GPS and RunKeeper ) on my runs to give me an idea of how I'm doing step and speedwise.

I ordered it directly from fitbit so I hope it will ship ASAP. I'll let you ladies know when I get it.

I also had NO clue that there was DIS friends group----that's wonderful.

Does anyone know if tinker's corrals are the same as princess?

Just solved my question it is. Crikey Disney you make me feel fast. I've never run over a 2:15 half I'm really not fast. I was hoping to run a sub 1:55 before my C2C.

So many Tinkerbell questions...

1. Narrowing down hotel choices - looking at Candy Cane Inn and The Annabela with a distant third choice of Camelot Inn. Any thoughts on these? Are any of them stinkers?

2. Do you get a choose a bib colour as you do at Princess? Like, you choose a princess and get a specific colour. Do you choose a pixie at Tink or are all bibs the same? THIS IS IMPORTANT for costume planning, LOL!

3. Why is registration later than Princess registration? Likely no one knows the answer to this, but I thought it was weird that Princess opens June 11 and Tinkerbell is not until July 9.

The Annabella is on Katella and very close to the start of the race which is on Disneyland Drive. I've never stayed there but it does look nice. Maybe even ck out TripAdvisor for more review info. At the Annabella, it's about a 15 min walk to the parks...cutting through the Grand Californian Hotel-then Dowtown Disney-to get to the parks.
I've also heard good things about the Candy Cane hotel but it's location is further out on Harbor. They do have a shuttle to take you to and from the parks.
The Camelot Inn is the closest to the park. Actually a 5 min walk to the park gates since it's right on Harbor. Have not stayed there since we tend to stay at the Best Westerns in the area. But you can not beat the location. It will be about a 10-15 walk through the resort esplanade and DTD race morning but also very easy to do.

No different bib colors. They have been the same for the past two years.

Hope this helps. :)
