I wasn't able to watch it but was getting updates on FB from friends. From what I can tell it was a fantastic comeback by the Canadians. They fought hard . Congrats to all!

I haven't read the whole thread but we have a family discussion going on (we are huge Olympic watchers). What are your thoughts about other countries paying their athletes and we have some of our athletes on gofundme just to get to the games after making the team? Seems a bit wrong to me.

It's not like the any country is prohibited from paying its Olympic athletes or backing them up with equipment and facilities and coaches. So who's fault is it when they don't? Some countries don't have nearly enough funds. But that doesn't apply to the United States. Who's fault is it that gold medal winning side by side slalom snowboarder won for Russia and not The United States? Who's fault is it that we didn't identify this guy and make sure he got some backing such that he had to go to Russia to get it. More power to them and him. Obviously, he fell in love with a Russian snowboarder. But maybe if the United States backs him, she moves here and wins her bronze one for us instead of him winning Gold for them.

Yes, watched the last period and the OT. So exciting. While I wish the US had won I was very happy and excited for the Canadian girls. It was very heartwarming to see them on the medal stand.
