**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

I'm surprised to see so many people taking phone chargers in their park bag. I'm curious as to where/when you get a chance to charge your phone in the parks?

When we stop and eat I always look for an outlet. Most quick service and table service places have outlets, and CM's are always really accommodating in helping me search for a plug. My mom and I rarely stay together in the parks since we like to do different things, but we stay in constant communication, plus all the pictures and facebooking kills my battery.

QOTW - QUESTION OF THE WEEK...

WHAT GOES IN TO YOUR PARK BAG????

Now that the kids are older we travel light. Cash, camera and chapstick, park tickets and room key in a fanny pack. No phones in the park for us since our Canadian carrier will charge us outrageous amounts of money for the privilege of using our phone outside of Canada. If they would let us share a US plan we would but at $30 a phone there is no point for just one week. We just have meeting times and places when we are not together.

Our anniversary is on the 9th, but we're headed down later in the month to do the 5k with the kids (DD12, DD9). It'll be our first runDisney event. We're at the DLH from 28-31.

Planing to have a couple of cameras, alternating between my go pro, point and shoot and an DSLR, no doubt have some sunscreen and possibly have a squirt bottle with a fan. Possibly ponchos but I believe the chance of rain is slim to nil? Not going to carry snacks because we want to try all the delicious snacks in the park! We had our photopass+ arrive today! Happy times!
What accessories have you used successfully with your go pro at the park? I'd like to dabble a bit with mine to film my kiddos on rides, but I'm no sure what to get.
Thanks, Tracy

This will be my first time taking a GoPro to a park. I have a pole that extends from 8 inches to 36 inches, a smaller grip, a head band and a mount that is for tubular bars. Hopefully I get some good footage.

Could you tell how I can get the count down ticker you have? I tried to use one of the dis ones but I did something wrong apparently. I really like the name tag one.

Click on it and will take you to the tool to make your own :)

Thanks!

Anyone tell me how I can get it to show up. All I'm seeing is the code. Do I use the HTML version or one of the others? Sorry I know this isn't the place for the question but I looked at the tech support page and didn't see anything. Thanks!

Grab the BBCode, not the HTML, and it should work.

Exactly! I refuse to even take my phone out of the country in case it starts using data in the background or something :rotfl: I've heard of people coming back from a trip to a $1000 phone bill :scared1: I just take my laptop and use the free wifi at the hotel for facebooking.

I know!! It's scary right?!?!

This will be our first trip to DLR where we'll be using phones. I picked up a couple SIM cards from roam mobility so DH and I will each have a US number. I used mine in March when we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Washington.

I need to look into our options too. We are away for 17 days so we just might want to use our phone in that time.

I plan to be there second week.

:welcome: Nice to have you ::yes::

ya, we use 2 way radios. We've used them for YEARS!!! At one point it was difficult because SOOO many people were using them in the parks we would often have other people using the same frequency as us but after that year celll phones starting picking up in popularity amongst teens and ever since we have NEVER had a problem using our radios.

I hope Mikes advice works for you. I needed someone to help me with mine too this time around. Not sure what the problem is but I've heard of a few people having troubles with tickers ::yes::

Of course it was the one I didn't try. Still not working though but it's not big deal. :badpc: Thanks for the help?

Got it. The page had timed out so had to redo it. Thanks mikedoyleblogger!!

Two way radios! We have not used those in years, thank you for the reminder! I have them away in a closet somewhere. We had the same problem with lots of users on the frequencies before but you are right, they will all be using their phones now. :yay:

Now that cell phones have taken precedent, this is something I've always been curious about trying with the two way radios. I doubt we'd have much issue now. It would be a lot of fun, too!

Would anyone be interested in doing a stroller share? We're hemming and hawing about whether DS4 should use a stroller on our trip. We could rent one from city strollers, but it's cheaper to just buy one from Amazon or Walmart and then ditch it or bring it home and sell it.

I know were're not supposed to exchange money on the dis, so if anyone did want to do a stroller share, the first person who gets the stroller would have to pay for it. We'll be there Aug 21-28th staying at Hojo from Aug 21-24th then DLH from 24th to 28th. We won't need it for the full trip, but more likely for the last few days.

Anyone interested?

I'm going to post this on the main board too.

we have taken our stroller every trip and will do it again this trip even though DS is 4.5 years old.....:scared1:

why buy one when you can travel with your own for free? unless you don't have one of your own
