**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Robin Hood

Loved it as a kiddo, still do today.

That's my DH's favourite Disney movie too! When he was a kid, he and his sister spent the summer at their dad's house and he had Robin Hood and Police Academy 3 on VHS, so they watched those 2 movies over and over!

Wishing you a very speedy recovery!!!!!

Thanks :goodvibes I've just booked the surgery for Friday. Looking forward to getting it over and done with!

As far as Disney movies go, it is always the first thing someone asks when they find out I'm a Disney enthusiast, and I can never answer them :rotfl: I know it's a cop-out, but I just can't choose!

Hi!
I just spent my morning reading this thread and now I'm so excited for our trip!

We are in Nova Scotia and will be flying into LAX on July 31st. It will be my family: me, DH, DS12, DD6, DD2, and DS 7 months at the time of the trip. My parents will be coming with us and we will be meeting DH's family who all live in northern CA. It will be my MIL and FIL, BIL and his gf and 3 kids and my other BIL and his pregnant wife and toddler.

We are staying at the doubletree suites Anaheim resort for 3 nights before moving to the Hilton Los Angeles/universal city for two nights.

July 31st: fly in at noon and do the grove and then have a lazy night
August 1st: disneyland - doing bibbidi bobbidi boutique that day
August 2nd: DCA and Goofys Kitchen for dinner
August 3rd: we will switch hotels and do a TMZ tour and the beach
August 4th: we will do universal studios
August 5th: drive up to Vallejo for the rest of our trip in the Bay Area.

We have done dlr 3 times but my parents never have and I think this trip will be extra fun as my DDs are at such fun ages. I hope DS will be a little more adventurous than he was on our last trip in 2010!

Last time we went I was pregnant so this time I plan to ride the rides I had to sit out last time :)

Time for a new QUESTION OF THE WEEK...

:mickeyjum:tink::simba::stitch::ccat::sulley:
What is your FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE???

That is a tough question. Probably Beauty and the Beast overall. As a kid I was obsessed with Jungle Book and Mary Poppins.
Wait. No. Sleeping Beauty! I LOVE the art of it and love the songs and score. Hated it as a young girl but love it now. I would love to find some artwork from it on my next trip for my bedroom. Inexpensive artwork.

Ok. That was a long answer to a short question. :rotfl:

YAY! Welcome!!! I will add your information on to the front page. Thanks for joining us :thumbsup2
Nova Scotia is a GORGEOUS place!!! Whereabouts are you? We visited there once and fell in love with it - well, the whole east coast actually!

I missed two questions being busy for the past two weeks. Rides I will not go on are Star Tours and Space Mountain. If I ride either of those, I am done for the entire day.

And it's so hard to name one favorite movie. Two favorites that haven't been mentioned: Sword in the Stone and Bug's Life.

I love Finding Nemo and I still remember the first time I saw the trailer for Lion King, how powerful! But right now, I really love Frozen! Mary Poppins holds a very special place in my heart, especially since my son loves it as well. So hard to pick just one!

Edited because I just remembered...the very first movie I remember seeing in the theatre was a Disney movie, Candleshoe!

Thanks! :) I was born on cape Breton so a lot of family is still there, but we live in the Annapolis Valley. DH is from California and we toy with the idea of moving there but it was enough of a headache to get him here. I can't imagine the paperwork and hassle for myself and 4 kids!

Can I get added to the group pls?

We leave for our May trip in 3 more sleeps and already am planning our August trip – our dates will be Aug 23 to 29 staying at HoJo!
Can’t wait to chat with all of you!

Welcome! Another British Columbian, hooray!

We're taking over the parks this August, it seems!

Planning an August 10th-15th stay in Anaheim. We'll be driving down from Oregon, so it'll be a little ways and we drive straight through without stopping for anything but gas and food. Thinking we'll go to Disneyland/DCA with 3-day park hopper passes between the 11th and the 14th depending on which days look better. We'll be staying at the new Marriott Springhill Suites for five days, so hopefully the reviews it's been receiving are up to par. I've stayed at the Courtyard, the Residence Inn and various other locations, but never this type of hotel, so I'm excited.

I'm mostly excited about getting down there and visiting family (though mostly excited about Disneyland). It'll have been over a year since I last went down in June of 2013.

Hey! We'll be there the same week, also driving down from Oregon :) !! We LOVE Springhill Suites, haven't stayed at that particular one but since we are way up in the northern part of Oregon we always stay at a Springhill in Bakersfield to break up the drive. It's perfect for our family of 5!

I have NEVER heard of the movie Candleshoe!! Now I need to look it up. LOL

ooohh!! We loved Cape Breton SO much. How on earth did you bring yourself to leave the place?? lol. We never got to Annapolis Valley though but close!! We went from Fundy In NB down to Ovens Natural park where we stayed for a few nights. We then hit Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove, Halifax and then headed to Cape Breton Island which I found to be THEE most beautiful place in Canada that I have seen!!! We hit Louisburg, Sydney, Cape Breton Highlands National park, Cheticamp, and Inverness. I would definitely go back again some day if there weren't so many places in the world that I need to see ;) LOL I wish I had more money and more time to travel.

Can I get added to the group pls?

Welcome! I will add in your information! That's a LOT of driving to do at once :crazy2: We were going to drive from Saskatchewan Canada so that would have been a LOT of driving too! But we would have split it into 3 days of driving. We found a decently priced flight though THANK GOODNESS!!! lol

Very nice! We'll either be coming down from Portland or possibly Vancouver, WA where my friend lives. Whether we break up the trip, however, depends on who I'm driving with. When I'm with my mom, we break it up into two days. But with my brothers or friend, we just go straight down unless we're way too tired and just pull off into a fast food parking lot that's well-lit and sleep for an hour. But it's a 15-ish hour drive depending on traffic, and we'll probably leave later in the afternoon (like 1-2 p.m.) and get into Anaheim at around 7 or 8 a.m.--that's counting all the stops we make for food and gas.

I can understand why you'd need to stop and sleep coming from Saskatchewan. That's much further than Portland! And thank you. :D

just wanted to say to all you moms in our August group....

:love1: :rainbow: Happy Mothers Day! :rainbow: :love1:

I hope you are being spoiled, loved, and appreciated to the MAX today! You deserve it!

Time for the

QUESTION OF THE WEEK :goodvibes

WHO IS THE ONE CHARACTER YOU MUST SEE/VISIT/MEET N GREET/GET AUTOGRAPH FROM IN A DISNEY PARK?
::MinnieMo:earsgirl:::MickeyMo:earsboy:::MinnieMo:::MickeyMo:earsboy:::MinnieMo:earsgirl:

and yes, I know some of you have a very difficult time narrowing it down so go ahead and make a list o the top 3 or top 5 or whatever you need to do. LOL

I'm here!!! :yay:

It has been the most insane few weeks in my life, here is a brief rundown.

My fully vaccinated son got chicken pox. Three days later our office manager goes on a 2 week vacation to get married. Her temp had 1 day of training. One of our staff got into a pretty serious car accident and is off work for almost a week. The day after that happens, my husband ends up being rushed to the ER with a very serious infection that got into his blood stream and he ends up in the hospital for almost a week. Right in the middle of this, I put my back out and had to take care of our 8 year old by myself through insane pain and I can't take either Tylenol or aspirin.

The good news is that because he was vaccinated, our son's chicken pox was a very mild case, our office manager (who I now know I cannot live without!) is back today, our employee is back at work, my husband was released from the hospital on Tuesday and he is back at work today and finally, thanks to taking it as easy as possible and thanks to some pretty kick butt anti-inflamatories my back is feeling much better.

I hope that is all of our bad luck for the entire year!

I'm not a huge autograph/character meet and greet fan but my son LOVES Captain Hook!
