**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

almost forgot to say...

ENJOY you spring trip!!!! Wish i was in your suitcase right now! :goodvibes

I don't think I was added to the first page :confused3

Less than 24 hours back home and already planing for August - we may do a quick cruise as well

it was HOT HOT HOT - 103 degrees (about 40 for us Canadians) - never had weather like that before

40 degrees is seriously grouchy!

Now I'm worried about August!

40?! Eek! I do hope it is cooler in August.

Is the Disney website the best place to get tickets if you are from Australia?

Me too!

There are heaps of places to get tickets. Search the forum for information on all the different agencies. Last time I just got them through the Disneyland website as it was easier, but for this trip we've bought the 10 day passes only available to Aussies and Kiwis. You can get these through Flight Centre and Qantas I think.

It depends on how many days you want and what passes you want.

For annual passes use the Disneyland website as its easiest but remember its US currency.

For 1,2,3,4,5,10 day passes go to flight centre as that is easier as that is in Aussie dollar prices.

I just bought two 10 day passes last week from flight centre and from memory they are about $360

Well, our school situation is a mess. My kids ended up on a track at our neighborhood school that has them in school for both our DL trip and our Alaskan Cruise next summer. But we are still planning to keep our trips and go anyway. Because we're leaning towards sending them back to the same school my oldest one has been going to this year. (If you missed that saga, we have one on traditional schedule and one on year round schedule). Then they will be on traditional schedule and this trip is the week before they start school and the cruise is the week after they get out.

But that means no annual passes for us either. :( And we have to go to Alaska instead of the Panama Canal Cruise we really wanted to do. (First world problem, I know).

I bought our tickets this morning to avoid the new price increase. Getting so excited. Three months from today we will be in the park!!

Yikes Yikes Yikes! I'm so sorry i went AWOL again!! I've been sick AGAIN!!! This is getting old already :( my latest was bronchitis and now a cold sore to top it all off. I have barley been sick other than a day here or there under the weather in the last 4 years and then WHAM!!! I get EVERYTHING!!! and am sick for coming on 3 weeks now :( I'm ready to get BETTER.

Anyway, now that I'm feeling a bit better I needed some Disney therapy so I'm back!

I am now at the double digits!!! :D

I just did the math and if I counted correctly, 95 days to go until we leave for Seattle, 96 until we get to Disney! :cool1:

yayyyy! Double digit happy dance!!! :dance3:

We're not very bold about lining up to meet characters, but I'm determined to get a pic with Minnie this time and my daughter wants one with Peter Pan. Although I have no idea where one would find Peter Pan for such a picture. Hmmm.... Anyone know?:confused3

I sure hope we can find him too. Our last trip to WDW we were taking pics on a bridge and he just came along behind dh (who had the camera) and was acting funny ,Dh was wondering what we were looking at and turned around to find him there. He then ran over to stand with us in the pic. It was SO awesome! and NO WAIT TIME!!! Gotta love it when the character comes to YOU for a pic!!!

I don't think I was added to the first page :confused3

Wooops!! Its fixed now. I have NO clue how I missed you and one other person. I had you in the little notebook that sits by the computer so I'm not sure how I forgot to add you in. I blame it on sick brain :confused3

Past faves for us have been...

pins OF COURSE :) We love our lanyards filled with pins.

DD got a drink that had a glowing tinkerbelle on it and we thought that was a real cool souvie.

I got a mug last time and definitely plan to get one on this next trip.

DD loves to get some sort of clothing :) she is looking forward to getting a sweater of some sort this trip.

DD also loves her ears. She only got the traditional mickey ears from when she was little and bought herself some black glittery ones with red bown last trip. she's content with the two so won't be getting more this trip.

I will have to see if I have some pics in my photobucket account of some of our souvies and will share if I do.

We have two. Every trip that my son has taken to DL we have bought him a new Mickey ear hat. He's got them all hanging from hooks on his bedroom wall but I think a shelf or some sort of better way to display them is needed.

The other thing we always get is a Christmas ornament with the year on it. When DH and I first went to DL for our honeymoon back in 1999 we got one and have continued the tradition!

Souvies are one of my favorite things too! My husband gets me a snowglobe every time we go, I have quite a collection. :) Nice ones are getting harder to find though. The first few times we went to DL they had a whole wall full. Now it seems they have so few.

We also get pins for the kids, a Christmas ornament and any Jim Shore figures I have decided I cannot live without. :rotfl2: This time I have my heart set on the Haunted Mansion Jim Shore figure. I have had a hard time finding one around here.

Have you done the Alaskan cruise before? We went last August and want to go back! It was so amazing, you will not be disappointed.

I get a picture frame from the same set each trip, and then put a family picture with Mickey or Minnie in it. I get the frame that's wooden with mickey heads in the corners.

The kids like to get popcorn and I spring for the cute buckets because they double as a toy holder. They're pretty tricky to fit in the suitcase though!

DS usually chooses a hat and DD really likes the blanket baby stuffies.

Favourite souvenirs... easy! My photos :goodvibes

Another particularly special one is my engagement ring  Not that it's a Disney ring or anything, but it reminds me of that trip all the time, and that's the idea of souvenirs right?

Other than that, I don't trade pins or anything, but I like to get one from each visit.

I usually end up with several items of clothing.

I have a couple of sets of Mickey/Minnie ears.

I plan to start a new tradition of buying a Jim Shore figure on each trip. And wrap them up good so they don't break on the way home :scared1:

Hope you feel better soon  I'm having a similar run myself and feeling pretty over it!

We are looking at 4 day hopper passes, do Flight centre have it on their website, I can't seem to find it.

Here are pins from my all of my USA trips where I have collected pins, also included is a couple of trips to Japan. Looking forward to more pins, but I also want to get a couple more prints, we got some pretty awesome ones last time we went.

Also want to get some vinylmation, lots of other random knick knacks.

great idea on how to display your pins! I've been trying to figure out how we could display ours! Now i know it can be just that simple!!! thanks for sharing the pic!

ok trying out photobucket after a LONG time away from using it. Hope it works.

I forgot about this cool souvie we got from WDW one year (a LONG time ago!). You build your own cup and fill it with a slurpie. DD has this on display in her room she loves it so much!

I guess that's all the souvie pics i have on photobucket.

:dance3:

It will be our first Alaskan cruise and only our second cruise ever. I know we will love it and it has always been on my bucket list to go there on a cruise. We just started getting our heart set on Panama as it would have worked out perfectly if we had gotten the school track we wanted. Such is life. Like I said, first world problem. I just have to get my mind wrapped around our new reality. Alaska will be amazing and we are so blessed to have the resources to go and that is what I need to focus on now. :)

For the souvenir, we always get a Christmas ornament. Preferably with the date on it. We have an entire disney-themed tree and I love looking at the ornaments and thinking back on each trip as I unpack them and put them on the tree each year.

I do have a son that loves pins but we usually get our disney clothing before our trips at the Disney Store when they have a special (like the ebates offer this last weekend).

So, for me, my must haves are at least one stuffed Mickey (2012 was the Obi Won Star Wars Mickey and last year it was an Indiana Jones one) and then something that is more pricey. In 2012 it was a new watch from the Fossil store (not Disney I know but it was from DTD) and last year it was a Dooney and Burke purse :cloud9:.

Mostly though, I wait until the last day or two to buy anything so I can make sure whatever it is I get, it is what I really wanted.
