Sorry for the delay on qotw all!! I was a little TOO relaxed on Easter Sunday. LOL.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK,

:tink:What is your FAVORITE DISNEY RIDE?

Hmmm. I think this has changed as I've aged. Space Mountain was my fav (pre Splash Mountain days) but going in August I'd have to say Splash.

Can I join please

Our dates are 30th August to 11th September - Desert Palms and then staying at a private apartment in Hollywood.

You most certainly can! Welcome!!! :thumbsup2 I will add you in right now!

You can only join if you agree that Splash Mountain is better than Space Mountain! :thumbsup2

ME - Splash Mountain
I'm normally a thrill ride junkie - I love my coasters and drops but Splash is just my "happy place"
DH - ToT
DD16 - ToT

Since we are driving to Seattle this trip, I think we are going to try and surprise DS this time. We were really hesitant about surprising him the first few trips, he's ASD so surprises are not always a good thing. Our trip last September was a spur of the moment, planned in less than 3 weeks trip so we didn't tell him until we woke him up at 4:30am to leave for the airport. Once he figured out that we were seriously going to DL, he was so happy!

I guess we will have to tell him at the airport since every time we have flown down, someone has asked him directly where we were going, but I think we can keep it quiet until then!

Anyone else planning on a surprise trip?

We will be there in August as well! A quick trip this time from August 3rd to August 5th. We will be in town for my DS's lacrosse tournament. My DD, 18, and her boyfriend will be with us too. We haven't been to DL for a couple of years, so we are very excited to be going again. We are staying at PPH, which we love!

We are planning a surprise trip!! We are driving down to Minneapolis and flying from there ($1300 instead of the $3500 to fly from Canada). We are going to tell the kids (DS14 and DD13) that we are going on a road trip. Then sometime on our way down or once we get to Minneapolis we will tell them the real plans for the week! I was actually thinking of putting the Disney vacation DVD on in the van while we were driving down and watch as they figure it out. We also have a DS2 who won't quite understand even if we told him ahead of time. We have been to WDW a few times and this is our first trip to Disneyland :)
I'm having a hard time keeping the secret!!

Sounds fun!!! and wow!! that's quite the discount you got on flights. Have you figured out the discount once you add in travel like gas, food, and accomodations to and from Minneapolis?

To those of you planning a surprise I sure hope you'll fill us in on EVERY detail of how it goes down!! I have to live vicariously through you because i can't keep a secret so no surprise trips for my DD.

Hotel is booked! HOJO!

My daughter will love the pool area and walking distance is wonderful.
My meals are planned already as well...I will add those when hubby sends me the plan on spreadsheet.

SO EXCITED.

It will be me, DH, MIL, DD(7) and DS(2).

QUESTION OF THE WEEK,

:tink:What is your FAVORITE DISNEY RIDE?

Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. Have only done them at WDW....looking forward to trying at DL

What do you think the chances are for a discount at DLH or PP for August 20-27? If there is a good chance at a discount does anyone have a guess on how much it would be? I've been looking at Orbitz and Cheaptickets and found codes on Mousesavers for 5% and 10% off but I think I would need at least 20% off before I would be okay with the extra cost. Is there anywhere else I should look for discounts or do you think this is a lost cause?

Something about this ride made me a bit nauseous so I avoid it. So sad cuz it's SUCH a cool ride!!!! DD and Dh usually hit it twice though :)

Me too - I've only done them at WDW so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it is in DL!

Not sure but i sure would love to know about some discounts there too. Would love to be able to spend even ONE night at one of the DL hotels but they are SO expensive!

Doubtful. The last 2 trips we did down there were on that week, I think because it amps up for the 1/2 marathon that weekend. Discounts usually end mid Aug.

.

I sure have! Gas will be about $200 round trip, accommodations $250 (2 nights with park & fly) and $100 for food. That gives us a total outright savings of $1600-1700!! Well worth it :goodvibes

So excited, going to Disneyland Aug 12th - 18th!!! We haven't been anywhere for 2 years due to job loss. We are doing a Disney/Hollywood/Beach trip!

Cheaptickets discount codes have not been working for DLR hotels lately. Orbitz currently has a code for 15% off. It is SPRING15 and expires tonight. It should work fine for your dates. If you miss it, I am sure there will be more offers.
