Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

Has anyone get their ME info yet? I am one month out and anxiously running to the mailbox everyday. :worship:

Is anyone else doing ToT and training for WDW Marathon using the Galloway Experienced training plan to finish in the upright position? Reason I ask is for ToT weekend it calls for a 15mi. Any suggestions on how to adjust accordingly or would you not worry about it knowing you'll get plenty of mileage in walking the parks the next week? I'll post question in Marathon thread as well. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

i'm not running the marathon. however, do you ever listen to the Mickey Miles Podcast? Jeff was on recently for Q&A. he did say that, for long runs, it is most important to get the mileage in versus worrying about being the fastest you can be. you wouldn't want to tire yourself our before the race, so i'd say you'll be fine. also, they talk often about how you keep your fitness even if you miss a week for illness or injury (or other reasons). so, not to stress out if you are light on a week. as long as you keep maintaining, you should be okay.

note: i am not a trainer. i am just repeating information. ;)

Weirdly, I got it something like 2 months ago. But I do it through disneysmagicalexpress.com, which redirects to a normal WDW page, and I found out about it through sites like hotels.com, travelocity, etc. So it seems like as soon as I did it, they generated the ME paperwork.

I paid off my rundisney package on the 20th so that's all set.

Just count the race as your 15 miler and have a great time. You could try to add the 5 miles but in all honesty, the race will tax your system a little harder than running from your front porch.

Options you may think about...
You could attempt to switch out the following or previous week's run with the race but that adds a couple issues. Running too far over race weekend and then two long runs back to back. The third option would be to lower the 17 miler to 16 a couple weeks later and then get back on schedule.

Again, just go and have a great time and then get back on the plan once you get home.

I'm in full-on waiver watch mode... I'll post if and when I find something! :magnify:

I must share with folks who understand... I am SO glad I booked through Travelocity last week, instead of holding out for AP rates for TOT weekend! With a $50 off coupon code, $10 Target gift card and $18.xx in cash back through Ebates, I came out $53 less at CSR through Travelocity. There are no rooms left at all at CBR and POFQ and only royal rooms at POR at the AP rates. Feel like I dodged a bullet! :yay:

Thanks, now I am also....

I just the old tricks and they still do not work. I expect them this week since the crew is back in FLA and we are almost a month out.

Wow... that is a LONG recovery... :( Glad you're back on track! :thumbsup2

Is that the kind of thing that some people are prone to get and recurs? Can you tell I'm getting paranoid after having knee/hip issues?? :rolleyes1

I have had issues with PF a couple of times. Both times I quit running and it went away. This time, so far, no issues. Building up distance slowly and good shoes help.

Thank you all - I was getting hard on myself when thinking I could just do the race, but since you all suggested it :). Will probably get up that am and do 30min or so just to get the legs moving and give myself a nice reason for a nap that day (no parks, just breakfast & expo).

I have a silly question. I was looking on the rundisney website, and while the site scrolls through the pictures for the TOT event I see the phrase "run until you drop".

So I have to ask...does the race end running through the ride, or WITH the ride, or something like that? I'm having images of riding it and THEN running to the end or something, and although I know that's ridiculous it won't leave my mind.

Anyone care to help me get reality in my head? Thanks. :)

I did the ToT last year and we finished the run in a non-descript backstage area near the ToT but I don't recall seeing the ToT. After the run, we entered the guest area of the park through that chute where people line up for Fantasmic. If I made a right, I could've walked down to the ToT but the ride was not integrated into the run or the course.

No running through the ride - it's sort of on our right as we head through he finish, but if you don't look over there you could totally miss it.

Not sure if I'm prone to it but was definitely from overuse at the time.
I had done a duatholon, then a trail run, then had to work a week in Vegas (lots of on my feet) and mid week flew to Disney to meet family. By the end of the week, I could barely stand on it. Sucked!

Rest, rest and more rest helped but now I've got little time to get back into a decent condition to run

We were joking about "run until you drop" last year because of all the people we saw pass out or get sick from heat exhaustion, myself included.:sad2:

The finish line could have been better as it came out at the side of the TOT

Thanks to all who answered!

I had a feeling that no ride was involved. It's just...that's how they make it look. So boo to them.

I'll look at the map later on, gotta go to the gym!

It's been a year since my last Disney run. I've forgotten. Do we receive an email regarding the waiver?

Was going through my running shirt box this morning and noticed my Wine and Dine shirt from last year was long sleeve. Anyone do Tower of Terror last year and can tell me if it's long or short sleeve? Really just being curious, it was earlier last year and is still a month ahead of W&D.

We are suppose to... but so far nothing. :sad2:

While we are helping Molly work on reality vs advertising, what about the rides that are open during the party?

I've been thinking that it's ONLY TOT, RNRC, and TSMM, but now I see they say something like "rides such as" those. Are there others open? I'm sure nothing would thrill DH and DS more than the Great Movie Ride, for instance. ;)
